The thing (haha, pun) that killed me about this movie was not so much the story. They painted an tale on what we basically already knew what happened. I thought it dragged a little but what really killed it for me was the CGI. Bad CGI at that, at least in my opinion. Maybe I need to see it again because the Carpenter version is one of my favorites if not my favorite movie of all time so I guess no matter what they did I wasn't going to be completely satisfied.

I liked the story and thought it was a great movie.

***SPOILER ALERT***

I liked how towards the end of the movie it showed some of the scenes in The Thing with Kurt Russell.

I have to agree - prequils usually suck, especially since you know how they are going to end. i love the way the plot followed along the same lines and the Russel version, yet the handling and the monster were totaly fresh and cool. You really root for the main character, just like Russel! And the "I know you are/aren't human because... -are cool, not cop-outs and believeable! Very good job!

I'll admit, I was worried at first also. I thought it was a remake at first, but as a prequal, I was so stoked.

I thought this movie was great even though I didn't like that knowing it was a prequal, I also knew everyone was going to die. :( I mean this movie literally plays all the way up to where the first one began.
But the suspense was just the same as the classic that some of us grew to love and the special effects really rocked this time as well. Plus there are so many things that are shown and answered from the original that I think this is a must for all fans of John Carpenters The Thing.

P.S. - I even bought the Playstation 2 game The Thing because I really enjoyed this concept that played on our fears of the unknown and not knowing who was infected. :D
