Hi!

My son just turned 6 months and i'm ready to get back at it too! Today is my first day on Spark so i'm really motivated looking for anyone else who wants to be my "buddy" to go through this challenge with. I weigh about 176 and would like to get down to 145 as my first goal (might adjust lower, but that's my initial goal). I'm also working full time, which is an added challenge!

I would love to connect with anyone who is in a similar boat as myself... anyone out there? Send me a message, or stop by my page to say hi!

Hello Everyone. My name is Carlee and I have a little boy at home who is 6 months old! We are so lucky to have such a good baby boy! He has always slept through the night and is a very happy boy! Since my husband and I both have full time jobs I spend any extra minute I have with my family.

I am trying to lose the baby weight but just dont have the motivation that I need to do that! I would love to have another working mommy buddy so we can help each other going. I understand how hard it is to leave your family when you dont see them all day long and maybe we can help eachother through it.

Right now I weigh about 160 and would like to be closer to 135. My goal is to lose the weight before December 10th. If you are looking for a buddy too- Message me! :)

Hi All,

I'm a FT working mother of 2 little ones. My daughter is just over 2 and my son is almost 3 months. I'm a registered dietitian and work at a small community hospital where I'm the sole RD and have many tasks - in-patients, out-patients, coordinator and certified diabetes educator for our diabetes program, cardiac rehab, PR and so much more. :) I LOVE my career and LOVE being a mom. I'm so glad that I get to do both!

My very supportive husband also works FT while going back to nursing school for his 2nd degree. So we are BUSY!

I'm really trying to get this baby weight off, but I'm exclusively breastfeeding so I'm starving ALL the time! I think my key will be exercise but I need motivation! Our lives or so busy right now that I'm exhausted 24/7 and have nomotivation left for exercise! My current stats are 53 and about 133#. My pre-pregnancy weight was 129#, but I was still heavier than I would like to be. My ultimate goal weight would be 115# where Ive felt my healthiest, but Im okay with not getting down that far, if it pushes me too much. Id settle for 120#-125#. I just want to be healthy and active.

My health & fitness interests include running, yoga and Im really open to buying a workout set like p90x or something if someone else has it and wants to virtually workout together. Our family is into organic living and we love learning about ways to become more organic wit the food we eat AND chemicals we use in our home.

Ive had poor success at finding a buddy on SP in the past who will really commit to motivating each other, but if I sound like someone youd like to buddy up with Id love to hear from you! Feel free to send me a pm! I dont get on SP daily, but can and will if I have a buddy to check in with!

I recently joined this team and am looking to join the buddy system. I'm a fulltime working momma of a 12 month old spunky boy named Jacob. I also battle thyroid disease, making it difficult to lose weight. I am working to lose 30 lbs of post-pregnancy weight and the initial 65 that I wanted to lose prior to. I'm taking these in small doses, 10lbs at a time. I find it extremely difficult to get a workout in, especially because I feel guilty for leaving my baby in daycare and being gone 7am-5pm for work. To combat this, I walk 30 minutes during lunch on 3 days per week and have arranged with my husband to alternate workout days in the evening. We recently bought a Nordic Track treadmill and a friend gave me her LiveStrong Elliptical trainer, so we are equipped to workout at home. Please friend me or buddy up with me if you're looking :) Thanks!! I know we can do this!!

Hi all! I'd love to join this team. I am a mommy to a 4 month old baby boy named Chuck. In preparation to get pregnant I lost 40 pounds several years ago and kept it off for a year. I was at my lowest weight when I got pregnant, but was not at my "goal" weight. So I've got 22 more pounds to lose to get to pre baby weight, but 42 to get to goal. I'm feeling like I've got a decent handle on working and having a baby, but I really need to stay focused and remember my goals when I'm tired and just want to get fast food for dinner! I'm going to be 26 years old in a few weeks and would love to buddy up with anyone who's interested! Would love to hear about any progress that people are having, also, since I can see people have been posting on here for quite a while! Best of luck moms!

Hey guys. It's nice to know that other people besides me are having a hard time fitting in exercise while they have a little one. My little fella is just under 2. I work full time and my husband works 12 hour shifts, 3 days on and 3 days off. So it can be a challenge working out. And yes, I too suffer from guilt. When I get home all I want to do is spend as much time with that little boy as possible before the day starts again. I think all of us as parents do that. From my pregnancy I had gained 10 lbs.. and I was overweight before so I have some pounds to loose but lots to gain. :) I'm 30 years old and 'm looking for a buddy to help keep me motivated who is about the same age as me, possibly in a similar situation, and in who has similar amount to loose. Oh, and someone to challenge myself with. Send me a spark message if you are interested.

Hi my name is Rachel I started a new job 05/01/2013 and my baby was 9 m/o at the time. I was getting great exercise, before I got this job, almost every day! But now I don't want to do anything by the time I get home I hardly feel like cooking dinner most nights. I was going to the gym to get my workouts in but now working full time I don't feel right leaving him with a sitter. I know it's weird but I feel like he will forget who mommy is :( so I need a lot of help figuring out how to fit in exercise.

My name is Jennifer and my son, Christopher is already 20 months. I went back to work full time as an engineer when he was just 8 weeks. I've also had a hard time getting exercise in, doing some videos at night after he goes to sleep, but I think lunch time walks are a great idea! I've been having a quick shake for lunch which let's me use the whole hour.

Hey mamas!
So my little one is 10 weeks and I go back to work in 2 weeks, which I'm dreading! Fortunately I'm only going back 32 hours a week, so I'll be able to spend more time with my daughter... however I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get a workout in.

I plan on starting to run in the mornings (when my husband does the morning feeding) and then walking with the family at night (after dinner). I'd love to start swimming, but I don't think I'll be able to get away from my little one for that long... so maybe once she can come and float with me.

All I know is that I want to get into a routine...any suggestions on activities to do with my little one?

Hi! My name is Cari and my son Carter is 17 months old. I work full-time, regular hours (8:30 - 4:45 M-F). My husband works VERY long hours and is going for his master's degree through an online program. Between school and work, he doesn't have a lot of spare time for much of anything, and it leaves me on "baby-duty" almost all of the time. He spends what time he can with us, but that time is limited and we try to make the most of it.

I have recently (as in, for about a week) started going for walks on my lunch break. I used to use this time to go home and clean while I didn't have a toddler attached to my kneecaps, but it is the only time I can find that I am able to get a walk in. I am definitely a morning person, so working out before Carter gets up would be ideal, but he gets up SO EARLY (think 4:30am!) that this is just not possible. Hopefully I will be able to keep up this momentum as I don't want to sacrifice any more precious time with him in the evenings!

I am Amber and I have a beautiful daughter Maya (almost 7 months)! She is amazing!

I work four 10s...It is great to have the 3 days off but it sure makes the days you work feel like you have absolutely no time!

I have been back to work for about 4 months now and I plan to breastfeed until Maya is a year. It is rough but luckily I have understanding management and a job that allows for me to take a little extra time to get it done. I have had a lot of people comment about how hard it is to breastfeed while working and it isn't realistic. I just think about my little lady and know it is worth it!

I am glad to see I am not the only one trying to figure it all out. I work a normal sch 8 to 4:30 but with my commute and DH commute it kind of puts a time limit on our day. I just started doing slow cooker meals during the week. I get everything ready on the weekend and put it all in the freezer. In the morning I just pop it in the slow cooker and when I get home dinner is served. it is wonderful. Finding time to exercise is now my problem. I don't want to put my DD in the child care at the club because she just spent almost 10 hours at daycare.

I guess with all of us in the same boat we might be able to find a solution. I hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy every moment with your LO.

Hi Ladies,

I wanted to introduce myself as well. My name is Rachael, proud mama to Aleena. She just turned 1 last week. I work a crazy schedule, 6am-4:30PM M-R and 8PM-11PM Sun-Thurs. In between work and work, I'm with my kiddo. I've had a really hard time balancing work and working out, so I'm hoping for ideas and inspiration.

GINA - Thanks for the advice about pumping. It's going okay so far. It's hard to stay relaxed since I always feel like I'm in a rush, so I'm trying to give myself the time I need.

Amy - It's nice to meet a fellow PhD student/runner. Good luck training!

Hi everyone, my name is Amy and I have an almost 18 month old named Adelaide. I am a full-time PhD student and also work part-time. I've been having a hard time committing to a work-out plan, mostly because I feel guilty giving up even more time with my daughter. However, she loves her jogging stroller, so I'm trying to turn running/jogging into mommy-and-me time. Also, my department at school is very active and has a running competition each year around Halloween. While I'm not sure I'll be able to run a full 5k by then, I plan on participating and have a goal of running a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving.

As a note to Rosie: I pumped for 8 months at work. It isn't easy and your milk might start to lessen, but just remember who you are doing it for and how great it is that you are doing it. It was the only thing that kept me going with it got really tough. Also try to stay relaxed and forget about work while you are doing it.

Hi everyone. My name is Gina and I am 29 years old. I have a son who is turing 2 in October and I would love to look great for the party. I know a month isn't enough time to hit my goal so i am going to set a new short term goal for five pounds in one month. I feel I could keep that weight off but I have noticed a lack in motivation on my part since I am a working mom. I hate taking time away from my son when i am home because I don't get a ton of time to spend with him as it is. He is in daycare 9 hours a day because I have a very long commute to work. I have tried doing exercises with him but as well all know little boys don't always want to do what you want them to do and they can loss focus quickly. I have been trying to get workouts done during lunch but lately with how busy work is, I get stuck working through lunch. And I have tried working out at night after he goes to sleep but normally by that time I am to tired to do anything. Any tips anyone can give for me would be great. Or even challenges would help me meet mmy goal. I was a college athlete so I love challenges and people pushing me to do more. I just hope it is something I have time to do. Oh also my husband does all the cooking, yes i know how lucky i am, but I cant seem to get him on the healthy cooking system. He cooks a lot of fried foods and it is really hard to eat healthy. Any suggestings on how to get my husband thinking healthy for dinner would be great as well. Thanks.

Hey all! I just got back from a week of travel to see my in-laws in OK. Ella did great with flying, which made things much more manageable.

After a week away from home, I feel like I'm starting over again with workouts and diet. It was tough to constantly be on the go and to have limited food options. I'm planning to stay off the scale for a week or else I'll probably get very discouraged. Thankfully, I fit in a little bit of time at the gym today since DH was able to watch the little one.

Hope you are all well!

PS. Any advice from those that are or have BF and pumped at work? Ella is starting day care a few days a week so I'm going to have to pump more regularly.

I have started a new routine for working out, but not sure how I like it yet. I have been trying to do about 20ish minutes on the Wii Just Dance with my son before he goes to bed. He loves the game. Lately though, he's wanted me to dance the entire time while he watches and tells me what song I should dance to. After that, I have been putting him to bed. Then I get my actual workout in for the day. I'm usually getting done after 10 when normally I would have been in bed and maybe sleeping by this time. I figure this way, even if for some reason, I don't get my workout in after I put him to bed, I have already gotten the dancing workout in.

I've been trying something new this week, since my schedule is a bit crazy with a full-time job and my family. I've been doing 30 minutes a day of exercise, but 10 minutes here and there, not 30 all at once. (Otherwise, I'd have to wake up at 5:30 a.m. -- no thank you.) Like yesterday I got on the stationary bike for 10 mins., walked on the treadmill for 10 mins., and walked outside (pushing my son in his stroller) for 15 mins, at all different times. I've gotten 30-35 mins. of exercise on Monday and Tuesday so far. Something is better than nothing! :)

Hi Kim! Welcome to the team! Congrats on your new addition. I totally understand. I'm having a hard time too. I think it will get a little easier as your son starts sleeping more and you get into a predictable routine with him and work. That's what I'm trying to do now too - I've got a routine but I'm having trouble squeezing in time for myself and exercise too. Hang in there. This team is great and we'll come up with something.

Hi all!! My name is Kim. I was put on this team but haven't been participating lately. I apologize for that...I thought I would be able to find the time to myself to do this but I'm having a hard time. I'm a first-time mom of a 10 week old baby boy. I just went back to work full-time on July 2 and my mom comes to the house to watch him. It's very helpful but they are very long days for her. I gained quite a bit of weight--I honestly didn't keep track b/c I didn't want to know exactly how much--but I did lose 45 lbs in 6 weeks! That was exciting! However, since going back to work, I can't seem to find the time to even plan healthy meals or workout. When DH gets home from work, he pretty much goes straight outside to water and take care of the yard, so I don't get time to myself until 730/8pm and by then, I'm ready to shower, eat dinner, and go to bed. I just can't figure out how to fit in me time to start getting healthier, both nutritionally and physically and I'm getting very frustrated. emoticon
Of course, reading everything from you all, a lot of you ladies seem to have your hands more full than mine with more than 1 LO....I absolutely want to participate more, I'm just having a hard time finding the time to squeeze sparkpeople in, unfortunately.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying 'I will try again tomorrow.'

I've done it a few different ways. When my son was little (he's 3 now), I used to do it first thing in the morning. Now he's too much of an early riser, so he would just get in the way. I try to do it right after work since I have family that takes him during the week. Sometimes I just have to wait until he's gone to bed since it just doesn't work any other time.

Just wondering - when do you guys find time to work out? What works best for you? Morning, lunch, evening, or exercising with your baby/kids? I think I've been most successful after my boys go to bed or walking with them, weather depending. I've never been a morning person and haven't been able to wake up early to exercise but I'm seriously considering it because there are fewer distractions and excuses. I just need to do it for a couple weeks and it won't be so bad once I get going.

I've been weighing myself in the middle of the week after I get up and have nursed my daughter. I try not to get on the scale too much since I get stressed about the numbers. Hopefully, keeping focused on getting back in to my pre-pregnancy clothes will be a more helpful way to gauge my progress than weight.

I'm finding it tough to fit in as much activity as I would like. I was walking quite a bit with my stroller but it's been way too hot to do so even very early or late in the evenings. I try to get to the gym or outside when my DH is home so I don't need to worry about baby. Unfortunately, he's also a full-time grad student and works full-time so there are few days when I can get away. I'm hoping that once my daughter is 6 mo old, I can take her to the gym and use the childcare there. She's too young now and I'd feel better after she gets another round of immunizations

Is it too late to join this team?

My name is Elizabeth and I am a mom of a 10 month old boy. I work full time and am lucky enough to have a small fitness center in my office's building. I try to make it there every day at lunch, but I've been on hiatus while I'm waiting for an exercise injury to heal. We usually take a walk when it's not raining right before my baby's bedtime, so at least I have that little bit every day of the week.

I'm always looking for new ideas and definitely motivation to keep going. I only gained 30 pounds during pregnancy, but now I can't seem to lose these last 15 after 8 months of active effort.

@MOMMAV8808
I usually weigh myself each morning, but I do my "official" weigh in with measurements every Saturday morning.

I hear ya! I enjoy my job but I would love to not have to work too.

That sounds like a good idea. Definitely would keep me motivated I think. Lol

It's funny that this is today's topic, because I weighed myself this morning and I had actually gained a half a pound--which doesn't make sense because I have been exercising every day and staying in my calorie range. Oh well, I am hoping it is just water weight.

DETROITKELLY--I am also a mom of three, but I have three young girls (ages 6, 3, and 5 months) and I understand how it is to have your hands full :) I also wish this could be my fulltime job, but I have to work too :( My husband and I are also looking for ways for me to stay home.

Yes, it is AWESOME and I do have my hands full too. I wish watching the boys could be my full time job but unfortunately that job doesn't pay. I'm always looking for a way to make it happen...
I weigh myself before I shower and take the best one of the week. My weight can fluxuate quite a bit so I don't stress out if I have a big spike one day. Each week I hope to see my "best" weight go a little bit lower than the week before.

Wow Kelly! TRIPLETS!!! lol That must be pretty awesome, but I'm sure you've got your hands full.

So when does everyone "weigh in"? I do mine on Fridays, and I have to say, I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. ugh! I'll sometimes cheat though... If I don't like what it says on Friday I'll weigh myself on Saturday and take the best of the two. emoticon

Hi, everyone. So, I just transitioned back to full-time work today -- I was working part time for the first two years of my son's life (which I was really lucky for). It's working from home, which is nice. It's going to be an adjustment, though... And I have no idea when I'll find time to exercise. I think if I get up at 5:30 a.m., that's about the only way... Ugh. I'm willing to try, but I keep going to bed too late!

Hi! I'm a FT working mom of 8 month old triplet boys. I work from home too, which is mostly great but it is hard to find a good work/life balance. My MIL comes to our house M-F to watch the boys while my husband and I work. I think she has the best job in the world. I used to workout after work but now we have family time and I work a couple hours more after our boys go to bed. If its nice out, we go for walks in the early morning or evening.
I hope to get support and ideas from other moms here on making it all happen.

Hi everyone,
My name is Kristin. I have three girls, ages 6, 3, and 5 months, and a really supportive husband who has never commented about the weight I put on after 3 pregnancies. I work as a teacher, but right now I am off for the summer. During the school year, life is pretty hectic and I have a really hard time making good choices with nutrition and exercise. I am trying to use this summer as a way to jumpstart my program of healthier eating and daily exercise. I can definitely relate to the challenges of finding the time to exercise--it is so hard to make the time during the day to fit it in.
I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone and supporting each other on this journey to better health! :)

Hi Ladies!

My name is Carrie and I'm the momma of Ashlee. She's almost 20 months now.. I can't believe it!

I work full time (from home for the most part) but somehow I can't seem to fit exercise into my schedule. Every week I have a different excuse as to why I can't go to the gym, etc...

I'm pretty busy during the day and I tend to stay away from the computer at night but I will do my best to keep in touch and help support my fellow working moms.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Carrie

PS - Rosie - wow! You have a lot going on. And you're getting your doctorate?! That's awesome!

Hi all,

My name is Rosie and I'm the mom of 4 month baby girl, Ella. I'm a full-time doctoral student and am juggling baby, working on my dissertation, conducting research with faculty, teaching, and the rest of my life. Right now, I'm working from home which means that I do lots of baby things but am having a hard time getting to my own work. The little one is staring day care 2x week once September comes and I need to be on campus to teach.

I'm slowly getting back on track in terms of diet/exercise when I can find the time and energy. I was as thin as I ever was before getting pregnant and gained 55 lbs despite working out 4-6x/week until I was 38 weeks pregnant. My mom and sister also gained 55 pounds with the first baby, so it looks like nature was working against me! I've lost a good amount of weight but have 15-20 pounds to go until I feel good. It would be nice to just get back into my old pants again!

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know you all. Hopefully, we can all figure out how to balance family, work, and our health/wellness goals.

Rosie
