Hey everyone!

Hope you are starting to thaw out. We've had a few days of sun here in MI and the snow is almost gone! I've run outside twice this week to celebrate since I'm not a huge fan of the treadmill. DH and I are actually running a 5K this weekend and I'm pushing DD in a borrowed jog stroller. We'll see how things go since it's hard enough to run on my own, much less push around 40-45 extra pounds!

Just checking in to see how everyone is. We got 10" of snow Thursday, it flurried yesterday and it's snowing today. I am so sick of the snow & cold. The kids have been sick so much this winter too. Looking forward to spring weather - if it ever gets here - so we can get outside more. I feel like I won't see my gardens until June. I can't wait to get out in them.

Trying to maintain my weight in the 145-150 range.

Article read. I haven't really liked Valentine's Day since I was a kid. I usually ask my hubby to not spend money on a card or silly gifts. Most of the ideas are ones I've heard of before. Neither my husband nor my kids eat eggs. I have made pancakes in heart shapes before - my boys loved it. Hubby wasn't overly thrilled. lol Maybe I'll try making the brownies for hubby and either cut them in heart shapes or sprinkle the powdered sugar like the article said. These are neat ideas, but not too practical in my household at the moment.

Article complete. I lied about the Spark Points. This one didn't offer it at the end of the article.

I found it interesting that not all of the foods mentioned were "diet" foods. I guess everything in moderation is okay though.

It reminded me that I should probably think of something for my 2 guys for Valentine's Day next Friday.

Hi all,

I'm hanging in there. The beginning of the year has been stressful since I was interviewing for faculty positions out of state. It's been tough to fit in activity between travel, my daughter getting sick, and all those snow days that have kept her home with me instead of in daycare.

I'm avoiding the scale since I know I've gained, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. Also starting to run again after having to hold off due to being in physical therapy. Hoping that gets me out of this winter blah!

Doing great here - was sick for about a 1.5 weeks.. feeling better and busy. My life is swimming, running and lifting and know that the kids go to daycare I have a little time after work that allows me to swim or run for 30 minutes everyday.. Seeing some changes and will post updated photos soon.

Since we are still waiting for our box I'd thought I'd check in & see if everyone is healthy & warm. It's been below zero here for the last couple of weeks off & on. Yesterday was in the 30's and it felt so warm compared to how it has been. Other than my daughter having a cold we are pretty much healthy. I was having stomach issues, but I think it was stress related and the Prilosec is helping. I did lose 5 lbs over 2 weeks, which would be cool, but I'm trying to maintain - not lose. I'm sure once my appetite comes back I'll gain it back. I hope you all are doing well.

MSTORANDT - Congrats on passing your test! My little one will be 2 in March but I plan on staying until we are done this race. It's been the one thing that helps get me motivated when I don't feel like exercising.

ROSIEJP - I hear ya on the eating. I'm not necessarily a stress eater I just don't eat healthy in general. I stay w/in a calorie range, but I definitely need to incorporate more fruits & veg in my diet.

Happy new year, all! The holiday season was good, although I wish all this cold and snow would go away. I'm already longing for spring!

Congratulations on passing your physical fitness test, Melissa! All that hard work is paying off.

As for me, I really need to get on track with my eating this year. Things have been really stressful as I work on my dissertation and job search in addition to my family responsibilities. Sadly, I'm a chronic stress eater and haven't been as conscious of my intake as I need to be. I know you can't outwork a bad diet, so back to the drawing board I go.

Had a great holiday season - had a fitness physical for the job I am trying to get back home and passed it with flying colors!! Was not sure about those pushups.. now for the running portion! Hope you all have set new goals for this year! My youngest will be 2 in June so my time here is limited!!
