tom, these are all ongoing challenges, so you just check into the thread of the challenge you picked whenever you've been to the pool, and post your distance there. most people here choose to add up their miles in a way similar to: "date, xxx miles done, xxx to go" there is someone swimming on the amazon river challenge (further up the page) at the moment, if you want some company or competition. have fun! (and if this wasn't clear or you have more questions, ask away! i'm not sure if i explained this very good)

I am in a 100 mile challenge at the YMCA where I do all my swimming. I have swam 38 miles since the beginning of the year. I do not know how to track my miles with you all. I see post your challenge miles here but it doesn't let me do anything. Help!

Only 3 miles down but you have to start somewhere!
I didn't make it to the pool this morning. I got to bed kind of late and could not make myself get out of bed at 6 AM. I'll be back in the water tomorrow!
.86 miles yesterday. I woke up late and only got in 60 laps. Now I'm 4.29 down, 15.71 to go.
Swimming is definitely keeping me more motivated to work out than the elliptical did. I'm going to get to the pool 5 times this week, and I've been excited to hit the pool every day. I always forget how much I love swimming!
great, she didn't even come to the pool! well, at least i could get some more laps in... 120! WoooHooo

Is that you with your feet up Nancy? Get back in the pool! *sly grin* NO. Wait a minute. On second thought, stay there, 'cause here I am, sloughing along, trying to catch up to you in the bay, so we can chat. Hehehe. Swimming on!
Happy! Good to see you back, girl! And Thora, hang in there. The actual situation is rarely as bad as we think it might be. I bet you're a great instructor!
Kelly! Good job! You are looking sooooooooooooo good! Keep it up!

Thora, relax and enjoy the water. Help this new member get used to having her face wet. You can definitely handle it, because you love the water so much. Just share your love!!! Good luck.

Hi everyone,
I was here pretty actively last year, popped back on a couple of months ago and then lost my swimming momentum. I've been on the elliptical instead. Starting this week, I'm back in the pool. It's finally getting warmer here in Rhode Island and I feel like swimming.
Grancy! You look so great on the beach! Thora! Good job on your finish! Bine! Your picture is so handsome! (I love your hair.)
I've been busy paddling, as the new season has started. I still swim, but I guess I took a little bit of a break from posting my miles. 3.25: 1.25mi 3.27: 1.7mi 3.29: .3mi 4.1: 1.7mi subtotal: 4.95mi total: 25.85 miles
I'm sorry I missed out on a few victories, guys. But last week I hurt my arm, and so now am out of the pool and the canoe for a while.... On the positive side: now I have more time in front of the computer!

Thanx, Juanita. I'll just picture us as these 2 girls at my neighbourhood pool who swim together. When they are using the kickboards, they just chat away as they move up & down the lane. It's very cool. I'll talk to you while I swim if you don't mind one word per breath... LOL
Here are last night's numbers:

Nancy! Hang in there, girl! You are so right about 'different pools'. There are a few pools in my area that would keep me from swimming altogether, sad to say. Tell ya what... I'll ferry to you, jump off, and swim with ya! Friday, 2000 yards and 1.14 miles, woohoo!
We can do this!

Is there anybody left here in the Bay? I might need to signal to one of the ferries to come & pick me up...
Today I only swam a km - pool was warm & rough. I figured, if they weren't gonna play nice, I'll just get out. Interesting how different pools have different personalities, y'know?

Guess who's back for the nine hundred time?????? I just posted a long note on the 2/miles week tread so don't want to bored with the story for the second time :P
Long story short, life happened, I'm unemployed and settling in a new place. Still swimming once a week and doing lots of walking, bike riding and so on to not gain it all back.
I swam for 68 laps last week but forgot to post them, it is obvious it will take me forever to finish this challenge but I will non the less finish it.
Great job to Bine who finished the MBC!!
Talk to you guys soon! Aldi

Looks like I'll finally be taking the folks back to AquaFit on Fridays starting this Friday! Woo-hoo! I don't have as long in the pool (only about 50 min & a mile's still taking me about an hr), but at least I'm back to some consistancy! (as long as at least 5 sign up each week!)

Hey Guys!!
I'm finally settling in and was able to swim once last week and once this week.... that's a lot more than last weeks! :P
Last week I swam wednesday, 84 laps; today I swam 80 laps. I'm slowly getting back into it.
The good news is that today I WI and was scared to see the number on the scale.. I was thinking I was somewhere in the 190's cus I've been eating really not good... surprisingly enough I was at 171.1... meaning I did not gain that much: WOOHOO!!!
Bad news is my grandpa had to be hospitalized last Thursday, they're saying he's not looking good; he's 92 and had a stroke to his brain and is now on a ventilator hoping he wakes up... :( I pray for him to either wake up or go peacefully.
I promise to read a few more posts and catch up! I feel bad for not catching up with you guys.

hey gang, just wanted to stop by and say hello! I haven't been swimming a heck of a lot lately. Doing more running and cycling than anything now that race season is over with. Looks like you are all kicking butt! Well done and keep up the good work! Let me know if any joint efforts to cross the pacific ocean are coming up anytime soon!!!

Thora- You swim a lot in 1 day. What do you during the rest of the week? I have been running. I keep thinking I am going to start lifting weights. I keep procrastinating it. Though I did do weights yesterday and realized I am super wimpy =)
I swam today 3250 yards=1.85 miles .08 of a mile to go.
Yes I am almost done!! I think I may go swim tomorrow just I can be done with this challenge. There is an open water swim in April 2.4 miles. I may do it. I need to rent a wetsuit. That seems so long to swim. I guess a lot of people who are doing Ironman AZ do this. It would be fun to see how I compare to other people. Good thing is I don't have to bike 112 miles and then run 26.2 miles

Thora- I usually swim at the pool at the gym. I went to a different gym and the pool was so much bigger. More lanes and everything. I may start swimming there until it warms up enough for me to swim outside. I always am excited to go swim. I am only swimming 2 days a week right now. I really look forward to those days. I keep toyind with the idea of joining a swim club and do master's swim. It sounds like some much fun. I am just not sure how much time I can commit just to swimming. I have been running a lot and really want to get my times down. I want it all!!!! Have a great swim today!!!
