Thanks, I'll have to check that book out. Our kids go to a Lutheran grade school, so I don't have to worry about that transition yet. She's been going to school with same kids since preschool and the same group will be together till 8th grade. I'm not to worried about the sex issue, but I totally agree with all the news stories. It's just crazy how young some of these kids are.

We have had the talk about her body changing and getting her period already. She has actually had her period for almost a year now. She developed very early.

A really good book to talk about that stuff is the American Girl book called "The Care and Keeping of You" and I actually read it with her. It was a good bonding experience for us.

I want/need to talk to her about sex before she starts middle school because you hear on the news all the time now about kids in middle school having sex. I don't want that! So I want to talk to her about it, but I don't know the best approach.

I'm having the same problem with my daughter. Last summer, I went to the library and got her some books. She didn't want nothing to do with them. I was mainly concerned with the body change cause it usually happens around age 11 in our family but she wants nothing to do with it. I'm just worried cause I don't want her to freak out when iy does happen. I'm up for alll the suggestions as well. She just turned 11, so I'm hoping I can get her to talk about it this summer.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a book or had any advice for having the sex talk with my 11 yr old.

We've talked a little about it before....but not really. I know that I need to talk to her before she goes to middle school next fall.

I thought if anyone could suggest a few books to help me, I could start reading so I'll be ready this summer.

Thanks
