We've been struggling with a reward program for our youngest (he'll be 5 on Tuesday). One important piece of advice we received was not to "push"to fast. At least for the younger set - keep the rewards at a "lower" level for a while before increasing it.

I'm going to check out the handipoints site too. Thanks for the heads-up.

wow that sounds likea great website! I'll have to look into it some more. The kids have been begging to get on the computers and I've got one set up just for them but I've got to get an egg timer (4 kids one computer, i don't like fights). ANd thanks for all the input from everyone about the reward systems! I stll really love the sticker thing if only to give them a hobby to do beside video games.

It's nice to finally find a site that has soo many members that are helpful and contribute to everyone's success :)

We use a website to help motivate my son to do things. It's www.handipoints.com You can make up task charts for the kids and as they complete them they earn points to use in the "catalog". The child gets a cat character that they can buy outfits and props from the catalog. It also lets you grade their work, and you can purchase rewards through the site for them, such as toys, books etc. One of the nice features is the savings goals. You work out what the child wants to save his points for from a page of rewards, such as pick a video for 30 points or a bowling trip for 100 points or bake cookies with mom for 20 points. It has many free options so that kids don't think they have to be rewarded monetarily for everything. Also, the task charts have sections, like school, home, health, and behavior. And the child can play games on the site, too. My son loves worm wind-up (kinda like snake). I love it because he takes more control over what he needs to do and I don't have to hound him. Just simply saying "Have you done your handipoints today?" works.

Thats an awesome idea. I had this same thought in mind of how to reward my daughters for helping out and positive behavior. These are good ideas.

You can find alot of cute stichers at Dollar tree. They have scrapbook stichers as well as regular ones too. I also get ones at Hobby Lobby when they are half price for my kids. Also at Dollar tree in the scrapbooking stuff you can find calendar sheets where they create their own and fill in all the blocks themselves and that might also help you. Good luck.

Your on a great track...that will get your kids excited and motivated! I use a huge piece of brisol board ( coloured)...put all my children's names on it. I then have three different sections. One for when they help with house work, one for good behavoir and one for when they miss behave or treat a sibling bad (I use this one to help them see and recongnize how they respect each other...) you'll be surprised how slowly this are remains free from a notty sticker!

I then add up the stickers at the end of the month; they get a certain amount of points for the size of sticker ( larger meaning they did more or something great!) I add them up...and an allowance is given...They love it. emoticon

Today we went to the county fair with all four of our children. Thankfully my two sister in laws went with us as well :) As a family we ahd a great day fro the first time in ages! I mean I cannot honestly remember when I wasn't yelling at John to stop yelling at the kids. In fact they were so good atthe fair that on our way home tonight Daddy had me go to Wal-Mart and let them each pick out a sticker sheet to decorate their new computer. I found this to be a great idea and began thinking about a behaviour modification/reward system for them.

Wth four children trying to get them to do great things around the house or with each other is a hard task. I was thinking about letting them create sticker books. Where each week they got to pick ou a sheet of stickers to put into their notebooks. John took it a step further and said we could do date planners, let them place a sticker on each day they did good and then reward accordingly at the end of the week or month or whatever. Date planners aren't cheap so I was thinking maybe some 3 ring binders with calendars in them that we printed out. My mind is running around in circles trying to figure out how to go about getting my children rewarded for great behavior. I want to get the system implemented quickly. Any ideas on where I can purchace diffrent stickers and whatnot? Or other reward systems that have worked that I may be interested in? I'm looking for something that will act not only as a reward system but also like a hobby for the children.
