Hi, I am new to Sparkpeople and to this group! I have a few ideas: I often exercise while my kids take a nap in the afternoon. If they aren't sleeping, they can just stay in their rooms until I'm done! Also, when it's not 95+ degrees outside, I sometimes take them for a walk in my double stroller. But I guess your son may not like that--maybe he could walk alongside you? Those are pretty much my only options b/c my husband is up early for work, and is exhausted from physical labor/or has work around our house when he gets home so I can't expect him to watch the kids at that point.
