I was worried about my two girls 3 years ago before joining sparkpeople. that is one of the reasons that I joined. My 5 year old came to me and said I have a fat belly. that scared me. Since then, I have done a lot to change how I feel about myself, how I look at myself, how I eat, how I exercise, etc. I make myself a priority and it shows. I may not be near my goal weight, but the other benefits have far outwieghed the weight I haven't lost yet. My daughters both prefer, string cheese, apples, carrots, etc. as opposed to junk food. They will eat more veggies, more protein, drink milk, juice, water decaf tea before soda. They think that this stuff is a treat as opposed to expecting it. we dont even eat fast food anymore. we occasionally go out to a sit down restaurant. the other day my daughter was at the playground and another girl told her friend that she was too big to play on the equipkment meaning she was too fat. My daughter not only stuck up for her and made the ohter girl leave, but then she told me that when you call people fat that it makes them feel bad bout themselves. I'm proud of the fact that I'm showing my daughters a good role model. They do not have weight issues nor do they have body image issues. I fought very hard not to make the same mistakes my mother made with me.
