Love the idea of changing things up Dawn!! I don't eat the same things for breakfast because I don't want to get bored. Hubby and I were also talking about how changing things can keep your metabolism guessing also. I have not gone to a single meeting at the same time yet, I've gone to 3 meetings and have had 3 leaders (second week was the same time, but the leader was sick, last week was a different time). I loved the leader on Wednesday because she was really energetic. She talked about how she would make a bee-line to the Chinese food restaurant after her weigh in day, especially if she did well. I thought that was funny, but also makes sense for boosting the metabolism...

So, here is my new struggle... Next weekend we are going to NY to visit my parents and go skiing. They don't know about WW and they don't necessarily eat well either. They are already talking about t a Friday night fish fry, which has become a tradition for them to do once during lent. I will ask if I can get the fish baked or broiled, but that will just tip them off. I will also bring a bunch of my healthier foods with me. I also plan to tell them that eating fried foods makes me have some nasty IBS symptoms... But, the biggest challenge will be eating healthy and within points while I am there...

Anyway, I went grocery shopping yesterday so don't need to go on my usualy Friday day off. I am just lounging and enjoying the morning today!! Dawn- I have not started exercising yet, but did get the 10lb slimdown DVD. I haven't gotten there yet, but at least am thinking about it!! That's the first step in making change!

Way to go, Jamie on the 2.4 pounds down!! That's awesome!!! And I bet that feels better this week with all your effort, huh? You'll have to see how your body loses and the rhythm it gets into for shedding the unnessesary! I know how mine does it by now...kinda frustrating, but at least I get the cycle and I just stay strong!

So, another word about my "off-points" day...someone talked about it at our meeting...that Dr. Oz did a show on eating "fatter" once every 5 days at the most. Most other places that I have heard this say once a week...but to go ahead and change up what you are eating, just like I did...and that it is actually good for you because it keeps your metabolism guessing. I LIKE it! And I feel like I am at a place with what I have learned about eating healthier that I could incorporate this into my week. It felt great for ONE meal, but you are right, Jamie, it is important that it does not become 3 meals or every other day. You need to be diligent about the program and eating healthy, but you need to LIVE, too. And that means enjoying your food every now and then!! I think I will try to keep this weekly "splurge" to my evening meal on my weigh in day...somehow that helps me to think that I have a whole week before I get on the scale again...even though it is not supposed to do any damage in the long run.

Ok, this old gal is tired tonight! I got in a great workout today, and that always makes me feel so good. It is amazing to me how "addicting" the workout feeling is for me now. For months now I have been doing a hard workout of some type, 40-60 minutes long for 4-5 times a week...and it feels so good! I can feel and see muscles that I haven't seen in a long time, and I just feel so energized after a good workout!! Jamie, I know exercise has always been more of a struggle for you...did you get your 10# Slimdown DVD yet?? Have you been getting in a few workouts per week?

Night, girls!!

Dawn- That is AWESOME!!!! I am glad you enjoyed that burger and fries, sometimes we just need to let go of it all for a meal and remember that 1 meal will not be the end all of it!!! I had that very same argument with myself just tonight. I had my weigh in (down 2.4lbs this week!! WOOHOO!!!) but also have tom and very bad cramps. I got home late with the kids and neither Justin or I wanted to cook. So we decided to order out, and the plan was for grilled chicken salads. Well, that just did not sound appealing- fish and chips did. So I got it... And I enjoyed every single bite of it!! I haven't look up the points yet, but I am sure it's right around those 43 points you banked yesterday!!

And I think this is a really important message for us all. For some reason that silly scale goes up, but the very next morning it's back down. If you had weighed in today, you might have been down that weight. But, wasn't it good that you gained yesterday? Because you got to enjoy that burger, and you might not have done that if you weren't feeling a bit discouraged. I think the most important thing is that the discouragement only lasted for a short period and that burger didn't turn into 3 burgers. That is what will make us stronger, and what will make this journey about changing our life and not just our diets until the results are there... And a lifestyle change doesn't mean we can't have a burger now and then, it just means we have changed our ways of thinking to be healthier.

Ok, Leah is very tired tonight and is having a classic temper tantrum becuase we won't put Yogi Bear on! On my, I love 3 year olds!! Not sure who called it the terrible 2's, because 3 is MUCH worse!!!

Nighty night ladies!!

Ladies,

I feel vindicated and slighly naughty this morning!! You know how confused and PO'd I was yesterday at my weigh in. Well, I decided that I just needed to let go and enjoy a meal for once, and I did not feel like cooking...so we went to Culver's for dinner last night! (Amy is with me here...she knows Culvers!) Culver's is a bit nicer than a fast food burger joint...but basically that type of food, but they make it fresh when you order and bring it to your table...and Oh, yeah...FROZEN CUSTARD!!!!! So I went with my family and had what I wanted. I didn't care at that point! So then I ate my yummy dinner and enjoyed every bite of my Double Deluxe burger, fries, and Turtle Sundae! I have not done this since going on the program!! So I enjoyed it, but then I owned it...went home and input the points. Jamie...DON'T fall over right now, but my MEAL was 43 points, which put me at 62 points for the day!! HOLY TOLEDO!!!!!!!!!! I about died!! But I did not care, and I said, one meal is not going to make me gain all my weight back!! It just will not!! So I resolved to be extra good and diligent for the rest of the week, and I hope that things even out! So just for fun, I stepped on the scale this morning to see if there was any immediate damage done that I needed to undo!! Guess what??? The scale showed me 2 pounds DOWN from yesterday morning!! That dammed 2 pounds I gained was suddenly gone the next day after a high points meal....go figure!! It just goes to show that this weight loss thing is still a mystery to me!! And one of the ladies in my meeting was spot on with her advice yesterday when I was bumming...she said, "Well, if it's not TOM, and you tracked and stayed within points all week, and you got your exercise in, then it is something else that is temporary, and you can't control it, so just let it go and move on!" I'll have to thank her next week!

OK, gotta get going today. Have a good one ladies!! I'm all better today with a fresh outlook and I will be GREAT today and for the rest of the week!! Hope you are too!!

Get some rest, ladies!! Sounds like you both need a bit of down time!! Leave the kiddos with the hubbies tonight and go shopping!!! Hee-hee!!

Oh Dawn, I am so bummed for you! But, the encouragement you already got is correct, keep it up, keep moving and next week you will see a HUGE loss! I am confident you will take that 2.2lbs and throw it out the window next week!! emoticon

I did not go to my weigh in yesterday. Not because I didn't want to, but because I had to work from 11-7 yesterday and therefore missed the meeting. I will either go tomorrow at 5:15, or Friday, depending on my schedule. I think I am down at least a lb though, even though it was a little harder to stay on track this week. It was that mental game that got me. But, I am doing better now and staying on track. I have been tracking my foods in my journal, and that has been helpful, especially if I pack my meals the night before. Then I write it all in my journal with all the points values, so I know how many points I have left for dinner if I eat everything. If I dont' eat something, I erase that line. It also helps me stay away from the extra's, because it's not written down as part of that days plan...

Amy- here's my first thought when you say you are exhausted and don't know why... Are you emoticon hehehe!! Of course, it could just be that you are overworked, over extended and just plain exhausted from everything you do!!! emoticon While I love WW and would love you to join with us, I am kind of glad you didn't decide to add another thing to your already busy schedule. I think when things slow down a little for you, you will find you have the time to devote to the meetings and might even find you enjoy them. But for now, focus on school and loosing weight/exercising on a schedule that fits your lifestyle...

Ok, am about to head home. I am exhausted too, but that is because I've had a silly cold for the past 2 weeks that has turned into a nasty cough I can't shake, I have a husband with a cold and 2 kids with a cold, 1 of which was getting better and has since relapsed... Uh, the joys of motherhood!!!

Ladies, I just want to cry right now. Weighed in today with a 2.2 pound GAIN for the week. And I honestly do not know where this is coming from. I ate within my points all week, tracked everything, including my anniversary night out. Worked out extra hard for that added bonus...and saw the largest gain in a week that I have seen since on WW. And no, TOM is not here, and I have eaten chicken & rice the past 2 nights for dinner. WTF? I did get a lot of encouragement to just forget it and forge on this week at my meeting, but I'm really quite bummed out, and a bit confused, too.

Hope things went better for you, Jamie. Did your meeting motivate you to track? I already track everything, but it was still good for me to hear. I will be extra diligent this week to make sure I am not missing little things that might be tripping me up.

Hey ladies,
Boy, if there ever was a day I wanted to lay in bed, it's today. My energy is clearly on vacation. I feel like a shell of a person. Geez. I don't know what the deal is. i got enough sleep so something else is going on.

I went to class this morning and have made it to work. I was starving but I did resist temptation to go to TAco Bell for a quick fix. Instead, I ate a healthy choice soup which is about 260 calories. That was my snack for the morning.

You are right about the food Dawn. I have been watching it overall so I think that's helped with maintaining. My ankle feels better. Tonight I plan to get my exercise dancing with the kids. I haven't been in the mood for formal exercise so I'm looking for other things like dancing, walks with the kids, whatever it takes to have fun while not feeling like exercise.

So how was your weigh in Dawn?

How is everything going with WW Jamie? It's been a few weeks now, correct?

Good to hear from you, Amy! Take it easy on that ankle! If you do too much too quickly, then it will just make things worse for you. Try starting back with things are are NOT impactful on your ankle. Also...don't think that you can't lose because you are not exercising!! Food is the most important aspect of losing weight, so don't sell yourself short! BTW, what movie did you end up seeing this weekend? (Saw your FB posts) It was my anniversary, so hubby and I did movie and then dinner, for the first time in about 4 years. We ended up seeing The Descendants because the showtime was the best for us...we liked it, but it was a bit of a downer of a movie, especially considering that we don't see them but once in a few years!! I wish we could have swung seeing Mission Impossible instead! That looks awesome!

Jamie, so how did your weigh in go tonight?? And are you nursing any bad wounds from the Supa Bowl? I did not acutally watch it, but heard the end result. At least it was a good game, right? I am NOT looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow. I stepped on the scale this morning, and I am poised for a gain this week if things don't change by the morning (HA!) And even tho this is my "off" week for weight loss, I did really well, so it kinda bums me out a lot to think that I am going to gain. *SIGH*

Oh well, off to bed I go!

Hey ladies!
Happy Monday!

Well I don't have much progress to report. The past few weeks have been really difficult and I haven't got as much exercise in as planned. I actually sprained my ankle on Friday so I had to rest it for the past few days. It's feeling better now so I should be good to go again.

I am still stuck on my almost 2 pound loss. Good thing is that I have maintained that and I'm ok with that considering my fitness has taken a blow. I can't expect more at this time since I haven't been doing so hot.

Thanks for the info on WW. I know that I can't easily sneak in that meeting each week so for now I am going to pass on giving it a go. I would only do it if I knew that I could make those. Otherwise it wouldn't be worth it for me.

I have to get back to work. I'll check in later!

Amy

Jamie,

Glad you had fun with the racing this weekend! That sounds like a wonderful and realistic goal for yourself...to get back into shape so that you can enjoy a few runs a year! Go girl!!

I did well yesterday by planning ahead for my anniversary movie and dinner out. My points were high for the day, but they are within plan for the exercise I have been doing. I even stepped on the scale last night before heading into the shower, and the result was not too bad. It's my week to not lose much, so I'm trying to be realistic about it all.

Got back to normal today and let Jillian kick my booty this afternoon with a little Banish Fat Boost Metabolism!! That one is great...but I noticed that it was not nearly as challenging for me as it once was...it felt good to think that my body and my heart are getting stronger!!

If I watch the Soooper Bowl today, I'll root for the Pats for you, OK??

Have a good weigh in tomorrow!!

Dawn-

I had an AWESOME time yesterday with my old coach... I ended up going to her race with her and it brought me back to the times when I was an active ski racer myself. It was so interesting though, because these are all the racers who are out of college and just want to continue racing. There was even an 86 year old man racing. And they are all really serious and competitive on the hill, although they are still friends and the competitiveness is out of fun versus a real desire to win, like with the younger kids... So Barb is pushing me to start racing again, and everyone there kept asking me when they would see me on the race circuit. I did run the course after the race, and I will admit that is felt AWESOME to be in a course again, I didn't even have to think, it just came back naturally!

So, I think I will take the next 9mo and work really hard to condition myself and loose weight and then see where I am. I certainly couldn't enter a race right now, because my legs wouldn't make it all the way to the bottom. And then next ski season, if I am where I want to me, I might consider entering a few races. I certainly can't, nor have a desire to, race every Sat and Sun like these people do and like I did way back then. But a few a year might be fun, especially if I can get my family to come along and watch...

Today I am a bit sore, especially my calfs, hamstrings and glutes. Unfotunately I didn't focus too much on food yesterday, although I will admit that the only bad thing I ate was a piece of pizza after the races. I ate a healthy, protein packed breakfast and a really good lunch and then had spaghetti for dinner- I even stuck with the correct portion sizes. Not sure if I will put everything down and count points, I still have tons of my bonus points left this week, so there is no danger of even using all those up. And we don't have anything huge planned for SUper Bowl Sunday today, even though it is our team playing (GO PATS!!!!), so I don't have to worry about that...

Anyway, I do need to go eat breakfast. I hope you are having a good weekend. Hopefully Amy will get back on here soon once her schedule evens out a little...

Have a nice weekend with your coach and enjoy your time together!

I LOVE breakfast with fresh fruit, 1/2 C Pumpkin Flax Granola, and a container of plain greek yogurt!! YYUUUUUMMMMM!! That is some good stuff!! And all the extra protein you get with the greek yogurt helps keep you full all morning! I do eat way more fruit than veggies for snacks, so I try to load up on the veggies for dinner!

That's OK if you want to keep the WW stuff on the hush-hush for now. Just wait a little while and people will be asking you if you are losing weight, and you can share then. I think they say it's about 10 pounds or so before people that you see regularily notice you are losing weight...more like 20 for those that you see occassionaly. Just keep in mind that this will take some time...you did not get here overnight, and the weight will not come off overnight. It will take time and consistency and new healthy habits! Good stuff!!

Have a great weekend!!

Dawn-

Have you ever though about being a weight loss coach or even a WW leader when you get to your goal weight? I think you would be GREAT at that!!! The advise you give is really spot on, and very motivational!!

I have not set a goal weight yet, I am just looking for my 10% right now. After that, I will probably go for another 10% with my eventual goal weight of 150. I am 5'4", and I think 150 is also at the top of the range for this height. I would like to be lower, but I'll take that!!

I am finding myself doing the same things with fruit when I am running low on points. I have also been adding a fruit to my snack, so will have a cheese stick with an orange. Or add a grapefruit to my breakfast Or have yogurt, granola and blueberries for breakfast. I am finding this helps fill me up a little more. I have a really hard time adding a veggie to my snack because then I feel like I really am on a "diet" and I don't want this journey to be a "diet", I want it to be a life style change that I can sustain for the rest of my life. Plus the idea of chomping on carrots is just not appealing. The past 2 days I've had a sandwich at lunch, wiht hummus, turkey and cucumber. I like that, but I don't like the cucumber by itself...

I have not really been discussing my latest weight loss attempts with anyone this time around. I guess I feel like if I fail, I look like a failure in everyone else's eye's too. I just want to quietly plug along and get my results with the encouragement of a select few- the dewberries, my hubby... I did talk about it with my supervisor today. She is an awesome person and is very thin and fit. She shared with me today that she has struggled with her weight in the past and has to be very careful otherwise she will gain it back quickly. Think of Jaya's Warrior Dash- well this women wouldn't even need to train for it bcause she is that in shape and fit. She was great when I talked to her and very supportive. She said she couldn't wait to see me in the srping after a good few months of WW...

Anyway, I need to clean my house tonight. My old ski coach is going to be in NH this weekend for a ski race and will be staying with us. We don't have an ideal place for guests to stay over at, but I could't say no because she gave me skiis and boots last year. SHe is content with a coach, which is good because that's all we have for guests... I am hopefully going skiing with her on Saturday- she wants me to race and I just laughed...

Tell yourself that you lost weight by being so strict, and that if you slack off AT ALL, you will not see the weight loss this week!! And really it is true. Plus, didn't you say that you were hoping for a bigger loss this first week? (I remember the same feeling my first week...it feels like the changes are bigger than the payoff the first week) How do you expect to see a bigger return on the weight loss if you aren't AT LEAST as strict as you were last week??

I remember that I started changing my eating habits by eating fruits especially, and sometimes veggies, when I was still hungry and was out of points for the day. I am on week #18 of the program, and I still struggle a bit with the snacking...but I have noticed that my portion sizes of everything are reduced...I just can't eat as much anymore. That to me has been my biggest change...listening to and heeding my real hunger cues...and STOPPING eating at meals when I feel full. You will get there if you keep going, and the payoff in the changes to my body and health have been worth it!! I remember that the lowest weight you recorded while our group was in full swing when we first started out was 189...and I can't wait to celebrate with you when you get there again!! Remember how good you felt about yourself then? Remember how good you felt in general?? Remember those feelings, and keep them in the forefront of your mind when you are struggling. YOU are the only one who can do it...but YOU are stronger than your cravings and your bad habits...and YOU are worth the time, money, energy and effort it takes to get you where you want to be!!

BTW...I was curious what you set as your WW goal weight? Did you leave it at 10%, or did you pick a different number? Just wanted to know so I can keep encouraging you and celebrating with you as you reach your milestones! My 10% is at 159, and I set my goal at 155. I know I can do this, but it has been a real struggle for me in the past. And I truly hope that I do not stop at 155. I want to get lower, but 155 is the top of the "healthy" weight range for my height, so that is at least where I want to be.

My challenge this week is that it is my anniversary this Saturday, and I want to go out to eat and ENJOY my food, and eat the food I want to eat for the meal. My mom encouraged me to do that...she said, "You need to trust yourself that you can go anywhere and make good choices, and if you know you are not going to eat a really healthy meal, just don't eat the whole thing...save half for another time!" Good advice!

Hope this can help you a bit!! Have a great week!!

Wow, quiet day today...

So, I teetering on a very slippery slope right now. I made it through 1 week of WW with a weight loss and am fighting the mental game right now. The, "I lost weight, I don't have to be so strict" game. And its been a tough few days. I have stuck with it mostly but the chocolate war has been a very tough battle to win!! I keep telling myself that a small weight loss is a cause for celebration but not an open invitation to slack off. If I can keep myself convinced of this, I will be fine. Luckily I have not had the mental battle of stopping at the convenience store for a really unhealthy breakfast, or McD's or Dunkin Donuts, but the rest of the mental battles have been equally as challenging in different ways these past 2 days...

Ok, my girls are being really wild and crazy and I am trying to get Emma to do her homework. Better sign off.

Ladies- 1.6 down!!! Woohoo!! Was hoping for a bigger loss, but I'll take whatever I can get!!

I just got done with a motivational interviewing training at work and the presenter used an analogy that I loved. Basically imagine any change you want to make as a snowglobe. When you start thinking about it, you shake the snowglobe up. When it settles, everything is different, including the way you are thinking. I loved it!

Anyway, I am about to head home. Dawn, I am anxious to know how your weigh in was. Amy, I agree with everything Dawn said about WW. I really think it's worth it!!

Jamie~

So how did your first weigh-in go last night? I bet you did great! I was down 1.2 pounds this week, so I am a happy camper this morning!

I got a card in with my monthly pass that I am going to send to you, Jamie. I filled out my portion, and then you fill in your name and address and bring it to your next meeting, and we BOTH will get 6 months free of WW Magazine! I have you at 53 Cressey St in Henniker, NH, is that right still? Let me know and I will send it to you and we can both get this!

How are you both doing today?? Stay postitive!! Things are going our way!!

Amy,

I know how hard it can be to get used to a new schedule, so don't sweat it...just try to work with it and fit in your fitness and time to plan for success regarding meals and such...that is so important! Glad to see on FB that you got up this morning and let Jillian kick your booty!! I am planning on getting downstairs soon here for my workout today...gotta be a good one as I weigh in tomorrow!

Amy, for me, WW has provided an accountability factor which I think is the key to my success. Because you ARE paying for it, it becomes more important to NEVER let yourself think you can slack off! It makes you want to get to your goal weight as soon as you can so you don't have to pay for it anymore!! Plus, you get to know the people in your meetings, and chat with them and your leader about your successes and failures and what is working and what is not. And the weekly weigh-in that someone else is always there for...you want to have something to show for your efforts on your weigh in day! And your successes and milestones get shared and recognized in the meeting (provided you want them to). I have found couting points to be easier overall than counting calories. And WW is backed by YEARS of research and lots of past success, so they have this thing down to a science...so they really can help you if you are struggling. It was the right thing for me to do because I was really at a point that I was TRYING, but struggling and still doing too many things wrong...and I was REALLY motivated to get back down into a healthy weight range for myself. I am close...hope to get there in the next few months. But for me, because I am doing this the right way, the weight loss is SLOW...but that is the healthy way to do it! I know that I am not going to go "off" WW and suddenly gain it all back, because I have changed the way I am eating, and how I think about food. I think that WW will be really good for Jamie, too! I think it will provide the structure and accountability that she needs to help her be successful, too. I'm not sure if it would be your missing link, because I am not really sure what your hangups are right now...what is it that keeps the scale from going down consistently for you? Maybe if I knew that, I might be able to say if it would be right for you...but then again...I think that only YOU can decide if it would be right for you. I also had a really hard time with the money part, because it seems like, "why should I be paying for this when I can get all the info for free elsewhere online, or I should just KNOW it!" But my Mom had done the program, and she really said, "Can't tell you why it works...it just DOES!" If you are curious, there is a lot that you can learn from their website...take a look.

I'm glad to hear that you think I might be on to something with BeachBody! I will be meeting next week with the lady that I know that has been doing it for over a year now, so I'll get all my questions answered then I hope! Basically, I'd be a consultant for their products, and I get commissions for anything that people would buy through my Coach Website. So I'd have to do a lot of "getting myself out there" which would be a challenge for me...but I think that it is a challenge that would be good for me! Plus, if I were out in the world schlepping BeachBody, that would be a real motivation to LOOK the part, too!! I could hopefully earn some money for my family working from home, and getting myself into shape at the same time! And being a Coach is about helping others reach their goals...BB products are a GREAT way to help reach your goals, but it is not the only way...and I feel I have learned a lot over the past years with my efforts that could help others. And that is what I think will help me be a good Coach...because I don't really think of myself as a SALESPERSON, but I do think of myself as a person who likes to help others. This way, helping others could help myself!

Jamie~ So I went to a pizza party playdate today and got a GREAT idea for pizza for you!! We made individual pizzas on Kangaroo Pita Pocket bread! That was only 4 points for the whole pita, then add sauce, mozzarealla, a LITTLE meat, a LOT of veggies, and my whole single serve pizza was 9 points. I thought that was pretty good for a single serve pizza, and you get fresh ingredients, and PORTION CONTROL built right in!! Could you have more, SURE, but you really do NOT need more than this!! It was great, and Justine did cheese with bacon, and she LOVED it! I will be getting some of those pita pockets to have on hand for meals for her...super quick and easy, and I can join her with one for lunch if I want!

OK, I'd better see what damage my little angel has been doing to my house since I have been typing my novella today!!

Have a good one ladies!!

Welcome back AMy!!! To answer your question about what i like most about WW is that you can eat whatever you want as long as it fits into your points allotment. The smarter you are with your choices, the more you can eat. It makes you want to eat healthy... Check the schedule of meetings though before you decide to do it. With your busy schedule, it's another hour each week to add in to attend a meeting, and I do recommend the meetings... If you can fit it in, I say go for it, it's really a great program!! And the monetary part of it makes you want to succeed more...

So, here's my recipe for what we are having for dinner tonight. I am sharing it becuase I had a small taste of the chicken mix and it was awesome...

Easy Enchiladas

3 chicken breast, parboiled and then shredded
2 cans black beans, with juices
2 jars salsa
10 whole wheat tortillas
1 cans red sauce
8oz shredded mexican cheese

Put shredded chicken in a sauce pan, add beans an salsa. Simmer on low for about 30-45 minutes, to allow the flavors to blend together. Wrap in tortillas and layer in casserole dish. Cover completely with red sauce and sprinkle with cheese. Back 350 for about 30 minutes. Cut into squares...

Dawn- it ends up being 100 points for the entire pan. Divide this number by the number of servings you choose to cut it into. I choose 12 and it end up being 8 points/serving, which I think is great!!

I got my new sewing machine yesterday and I am back in business again with sewing. THis has been a difficult week with Justin being gone, so this was kind of like my reward. I am so excited! And I NEVER thought I would see the day when I got excited about a sewing machine!!!

Off to dinner now... I am getting a little hungry!

Hey ladies!
I'm baaaack! emoticon

Sorry for being MIA the past week. I started a new semester and I'm not used to my new schedule yet. Typically I take classes at night, after work is done. This class is only offerred during the day. I have this class 5 days per week starting at 7:30 or 8. Then I go to work.Since I start later I get home later. I'm not used to it yet.

As far as weight loss goes...Pfftt...I have been slacking the past two weeks. The 1st week I slacked on exercise and last week it was both. I still am down the pound I lost but that's it. I'm back on track again and went to a great Hip Hop Hustle workout yesterday. I'ma little sore today but it was so awesome!

I have Dish Network so never had Exercise TV but really wanted it. I didn't know they shut down. i found this article about it. www.examiner.com/weight-loss-in-nati
on
al/exercsetv-on-demand-channel-websiR>te-shutting-down

If you google "exercise tv" I think there may be some stuff on Hulu, just FYI.

You too are really getting me curious about WW. My manager is doing it too and so are a few others. I'm tempted to do it but I think the costs are what put me off a bit. And I think I'm having a hard time figuring out what I will get from it that will be a benefit or in addition to what I have now. What do you two like the most about it? What has been the most helpful or valuable tool or part?

Dawn~ I read about your ambition to be a Beach Body Consultant. I have heard of this company before but am not familiar with the consultants. What would your role look like? I have to say that depending on the duties, this would actually be a really good fit for you. You seem to have a good perspective and know how to provide encouraging and insightful advice. I think you would really know how to round things out for folks by hearing them out and what will work for their situation.Do it sister!

Jamie~ When is your weigh in day? I know Dawn's is on Tuesday. Mine is currently Friday (subject to change).

I promise I'll be checking in more again. I notice a correlation of me slipping up when I'm not here. emoticon

Have a great Sunday ladies!

~Amy~

Hey ladies!!!!!

I have to start off by thanking Jamie for sending me the "May-Day" text last night. It made me giggle! I had to pop in real quick to let you know I"m alive and will chat more over the weekend. The past two weeks have been off balance with starting school and a new schedule at work. I haven't quite got used to it yet. It feels like I'm getting ready for bed by the time I get home. It's weird.

Anywho, I hope everything is well here and I'll officially check in and read the posts this weekend.

Take care ladies!

Dawn- I got the monthly pass, figured that way I couldn't find an excuse not to go. I already signed up for the etools but haven't used it much. I did put in my pizza recipe to figure out how many points it was and like the recipe builder option. I also got the delux memner kit to, figured I wanted all the tools I could possibly get right now!!

I get 32 points per day and 49 bonus points each week. Yesterday was the first day I stayed within my points range and didn't use any of my bonus points. I actually made a pot of spaghetti sauce with homemade meatballs and calculated the number of points for the entire pot. Then I took a 1 cup measuring cup and counted how many of those were in the pot. So I calculated that 1 cup of my sauce was 4 points. I had the 1 cup and 1 cup of cooked spaghetti for a 9 point meal! I also discovered that making your own sauce is less points than buying jarred sauce!!

Today my challenge is that I have a horrible cold and no appetite at all!!! You know when you have a cold, there is always 1 day that is worse than the others? That's today for me- I even have a fever. Which really sucks because I have to take Leah to her 3 year physical later today and Justin is still in Mass!! So it's 11:11 right now and I've had a yogurt today and am not even hungry. I know I need to eat, but nothing sound appealing to me. I even cut a grapefuit and then Leah ate all but 3 bites of it. And it's amazing that I alloed that, because I love grapefruit and therefore don't like to share it!! Speaking of that too, I have been squeezing about 1T of the juice into my 32oz water bottle and it's awesome!!!!

I am sorry to hear you had a gain this week, but it could definately be related to tom. Don't get discouraged, especially since you've noticed your weight loss pattern and this was the week of a low or no loss. Keep with it and I'm sure you will loose next week. I am anxious for my next weigh in too. After I got dressed today I was looking in the mirror and I actually thought I looked thinner. It might be that I know I am working on it, but it was a good confidence booster...

Anyway, I could use a little nap this morning before I head off to the grocery store and Leah MD appt. Yesterday was a bit of an emotional day for me and I am still quite tired from it. Justin hadn't called or answered his cell every time I called and it was getting me really angry and then annoyed and then worried. After talking to his parents, we decided to call the police and have them go over there to tell him to call us. Anyway, it was after 10 last night when that all happened and he finally called. I layed right into him and told him when he went away he had to call and talk to us daily because the kids want to say good night to him!! I think he got the message because Emma wanted to talk to him this morning and he answered his phone. I think the service is spotty where he is and his phone is on vibrate, which is why he wasnt answering, but still...

I did send Amy a text yesterday and she said she's been busy figuring out her school schedule. Hopefully she will be back on here soon!!!

Jamie~

Well, I didn't post yesterday because I was PO'd at my weigh in!! I gained .6 pounds...I think this is my biggest gain since on WW. It was my week to not see great results on the scale, but I did well eating and exercising...so I was a but frustrated at the scale. Then I pouted the rest of the day and ate a cupcake! Take that, scale! If I'm gonna gain weight, at least let me enjoy a cupcake, right!!!!???? Not the right attitude, but it got me through the moment! HA!

So I have a fresh perspective today, thankfully my pouting only lasted the day, and overall I didn't really do any damage. I just have to keep plugging on and hope this week is better. Oh yeah...I'm hoping the the fact that TOM is coming in the next few days is the real reason for the gain. Could be some part of it anyway. Just put it behind me and move on!

I just got finished with a great workout, so I am feeling good for the day. Plus Justine and I painted our fingernails this morning, and we put on bright and cheery pink colors, so that makes me feel good, too!!

I'm curious how many points you get per week? I know they go by age and weight...not sure if they take other things into consideration? Did you just join up and pay weekly, or did you get the monthly pass which has the eTools with it? I did the monthly pass and I love the eTools. I use that for my tracking, since I find tracking points easier than tracking calories. But I still log my exercise on both sites. I also got the deluxe members kit shortly after signing up, so I got all that good stuff that comes with it. Did not get or read the JH book. Glad to know it is good, tho. Probably pretty motivating...she looks awesome now!!

Gotta run for now!! Let me know how its going for you!

~Dawn

Oh, I almost forgot! I bought Jennifer Hudson's book at WW and it's really good. I haven't gotten to her experience with WW yet, but it's a fun read. I also got the dining out companion, if you don't have it, call or email me if you ever need the points value for someplace!

I will send Amy a red alert!! As soon as I am done posting!

Leah is napping right now, so I can get some things done. I am trying to think of how old Emma was when she stopped napping, and I think it was around age 3 also. Leah is fighting a cold right now though, so I am not surprised she is asleep. I feel your pain on Justine not napping anymore either. On the days when Leah doesn't, I feel completely unorganized because I don't get that down time! On Fridays she hasn't been napping lately and it's been tough!! I guess the plus side of no naps is that they are getting older and therefore can play by themselves more, and if we do need some down time, we can send them to their room full of toys!!

So, yesterday for eating wasn't the best either. After I picked Emma up from dance, she was starving, so I went through McD's drive through for happy meals. I DID NOT order anything, and had 1 small bite of a chicken nugget and 2 french fries. It was absolute torture driving home and smelling that though. Unfortunately when I got home my plan for dinner was my homemade pizza since it's quick and easy. I calculated the points when it was cooking and was surprised it was 7 points for a slice!!!! I was so hungy I ate 4!!! Uh oh!! So, I have used 29 of my bonus points on my first 2 days alone! Uh oh!!! Today has been better so far!

How was weigh in yesterday??!! Any loss, or is this the week of the small loss for you?? I am anxious to hear how it went!

Hee-Hee, Jamie, YES I think a RED ALERT text to Amy is in order!!! You'll have to do it as I do not have text messaging on my phone. Remember I am 42, so I am resisting the change!!
emoticon

Congrats to you for taking the challenge of WW with me! I just don't know what to tell you is the key to it, but a lot of it is the accountability of the weigh in and the fact that you are PAYING for this, so you had better not slack off!! It has been really good for me! I usually have my weigh ins on Tuesday, but J does not have preschool this week, so I am going tomorrow when my Mom is here. So that will be fun for us, as you weigh in on Mon nites and I am Tues morning! We can keep each other posted on how we do each week!

Yes, the Beach Body products are not cheap, but they ARE good!! Don't worry, I won't plan on your purchase (or not) making my salary if I give it a go!! Hee-hee! I just know that fitness is something I have taken a real interest in and I am excited about, so I would like to step a bit out of my comfort zone and see if I could help others...and hopefully make some money in the process. I need to find some way of bringing in some income while I am a SAHM. The thought is exciting to me. I am going to talk with my friend who is a coach next week, and hopefully get all my questions answered, and hopefully decide to give it a go!

Leah might not have taken a nap because you are not usually the one home with her during the week...or she is growing out of them...or a combination of the two. Justine has just ditched her afternoon nap, and I must say there are pluses and minuses to it. I REALLY miss the time to myself during the day...but it is easier to get her to sleep at night, and she sleeps longer at night, and I am not fighting with her TWICE each day to get her down. In my mind, more pluses to no naps, but the minus is a BIGGIE for me!

You have a great night, too, and I'll let you know how I do tomorrow. I'm hoping for something, but not expecting too much!

OK, I did it!! I am officially on Weight Watchers. I went to my first meeting last night, got all the materials, even bought Jennifer Hudson's book! But today I used 17 of my bonus points. That's only because I decided to take Leah to breakfast this morning and ate really badly. I actually didn't eat again till 3:30 because I was still full and then had one of the WW bars. Then I had a good dinner. I have my lunch and breakfast packed already for tomorrow and already calculated those points so I stay on track.

Any idea where Amy is?? Should I send her a red alert text??!!

Dawn- I am really bummed about Exercise TV! It's not even on-line anymore? I did take your advise and ordered Chris's DVD from amazon. And once you become a Beach Body coach, I will look at what you have, although I am not sure I will be able to afford that. Some one I once worked with was (maybe still is) a Beach Body coach and I had looked at her website before. I do remember being shocked with her weight loss, she didn't always wear the most flattering clothings and often had quite a large muffin top, so it was really surprising to see how much she had slimmed down. I'll have to go look her up again on facebook and see if she still is... I was also looking at Leslie Sansone DVD;s yesterday and noticed a new one of hers that allows you to piece together walks up to 5 miles, the reviews are great so I might try to get that too. I am still not into the exercise mode yet, but want to be prepared.

Anyway, Justin is away this week doing a job in Mass, so I am a "single Mom". I have picked up numerous things around my house on multiple occassions, I am tired just from that. I was home with Leah today because we don't have daycare, and I am really not used to it!! She didn't take a nap, I think she's getting to the age where she is not needing it!!

Have a good night and a good Wednesday!!

Here's the deal...and no one is more disappointed than I am by this, but Exercise TV and its website has been shut down since mid December. No known reason, guess it must have gone out of business!! So all of the great On Demand videos are gone forever!!
emoticon
I was able to find the original Chris Freytag 10 Pound Slimdown DVD on Amazon.com for $14.99. If I were you, I'd gobble it up now!! The newest ones, 10 # SD Xtreme are not on there, so that's a bummer...I however was able to snag them when they were on Exercise TV and I have most of them burned to DVD. I consider myself lucky!! I did the kickboxing one tonight and it is AWESOME!!!!

I HATE the new fitness channel on cable...it is nothing like what Exercise TV was!!

Here's another sneak preview for you...I am most likely going to be going into a side business being a Beachbody coach in the next month or so. Beachbody is a GREAT source for awesome workout videos (think P90X and TurboJam)...and there are a few that I'd really like to recommend to you, Jamie, so don't go nuts on me right now buying up a bunch of new DVD's!!! But 10#SD is not one of their products, so for little investment, I think you should get that one for now on Amazon. I would think that if you buy the DVD it would give you the recommended workout sequences, but if it does not, let me know because I know I have it somewhere!! Chris is awesome!! Makes me want to run down to my LifeTime Fitness and ask Chris what the deal is with that company...so disappointing to learn they are gone!

OK, gotta scoot for now. I really hope you like your WW meeting & leader!! Let me know how it goes for you...I know it will be really helpful to you!!

Dawn- was trying to show my friend all the Chris Freytag workouts on Exercise TV last night, and then entire thing is different. No more Jillian Michaels, Chris Freytag or Leslie Sansone. Not sure why or what is going on, but I was bummed to see that!! I will have to explore more once I start to exercise. What was the Chris series you love? If i can't find it on exercise tv, I migt have to look into purchasing it...

I found a ww meeting for tomorrow evening that I will go to. Justin will be out of town and my in-laws will be taking emma to dance, so the timing was perfect!!

Hi Ladies,

I had a friend come over last night (her oldest and my oldest are 1 week apart and they visited us in the hospital when Emma was born!!!) and was telling me about another mutual friend who lost 80lbs with weight watchers an exercise! She said Kim was inspiring! So she joined WW also, and has lost 12lbs so far. Another of our friends lost 60lbs. So, I talked to Justin about it last night, and I will be joining also. I think the structure might be helpful for me, plus I've lost weight with ww once before. Dawn- I'll let you know how it goes, and I might have lots of questions for you at the beginning!!

Hope you are all having a good weekend. Emma had her friend over for a sleepover last night, and they are now busy playing with Polly Pockets. They now live over an hour apart but they still consider eachother their BFF's, it's so cute! Natalie is the very first friend Emma has after all, I have pictures of her grabbing Natalie's hand in the hospital!!

Hi Ladies,

Dawn- I am so glad you saw a good weight loss this week! I have been reading your posts about WW and am thinking I might try it. Justin has been unemployed again this winter, and not getting any unemployment, so we've had to be really thrifty! Well, he will be doing a job next week for his parents friends down in Mass, and then the following week will be working for the guy he works with all summer. Bottom line is that things are looking better financially and I might be able to afford WW now. I am thinking about it anyway!

I have not gotten onto the exercise wagon yet, but I am happy to say that I have kept my eating in control and have been making healthy food choices. That is huge for me, especialy since I have a tendency to really overdo it with eating.

Anyway, got to get the girls to bed. We have a busy day tomorrow that ends with a special treat for Emma- I am taking her to see Disney on Ice with her Daisy troups!! BTW- she is selling girl scout cookies this year for the first time, too bad you ladies don't eat closer so you could order yourselves a once a year tastey treat!!!

Amy, sorry, I forgot to comment about Nick Universe. Basically, it is an indoor amusement park, inside the Mall of America. NU would be fun to visit if you bring the kids with you, but you should check out the MOA either way, even if you just come solo. It's pretty cool!

Keep me posted if you decide to come to MN to visit your friend! I would love the opportunity to try to meet up with you face to face for coffee!!

Good to hear that we are all doing so well!! I love it when The Dewberries are on a roll!!

Yup, Look at my ticker! I am down a full 2 pounds this week!! Yippee!! That was so exciting for me! I had struggled a bit this week with food...ate more points per day than I usually have been doing. No real reason for it, just worked out that way. So I did an extra workout, and just kept trying to regain control of the eating...never let myself off the hook with a "just forget it for today" attitude. And it worked for me!! Looking at my weight loss record, it seems like I am falling more into an every-other-week pattern of loss for the last 8 weeks. First 8 weeks were more of a every third week was a big one, and now it's more like every other is a decent loss. Knowing the pattern helps me with ups and downs of it all!! But I am actually kind of surprised how well overall I have been doing on WW. It has really helped me so much to get this far this fast! I love it! And all my jeans need belts now!! Another 5 pounds from now and I will let myself buy a new pair of jeans that fits my new figure!! Can't wait!!

Jamie, glad to hear you have been getting some pluses with your new health plan!! We are just getting the information for our new plan which is supposed to go into effect April 1st. I have not had a chance to look at it yet, but my husband says the initial buzz is that it is better coverage at a cheaper rate! I'll take it!!

Let's keep the good stuff rolling, ladies!! We can do this!!! We ARE worth it!!!

Hi Ladies,

Sounds like everyone might have had a successful weekend!! woohoo!! I actually was pretty good this weekend too and didn't overdo anything. I actually made enchilada's last night for dinner and was surprised at how low fat they really were- I par boiled the chicken to start so eliminated fat there so the only fat source was the cheese. And they were really good too!!

So, our health insurance changed at work and it's much better now. Which is great because now if the kids get sick, I can actually take them to the doctors for a sick visit. But, we also now have fitness club reimbursement. You have to show 3 workouts a week for 11 of 13 consecutive weeks to get the reimbursement, but how motivational is that? I told my hubby that we should consider this because it might actually be helpful for me. We are both a member of a gym, but its 30 minutes from our house. There is a gym in town, but it's very expensive and with Justin unemployed right now, just not an option. But, I've told him that once he returns to work that we should just go in and pay for a family membership for the entire year... Especially since he is driving to the gym 4 days each week anyway... I'll keep you updated and let you know what we decide!

I hope you both have successful weeks. Dawn- I am anxious to know how your weigh in goes. Is this the week that you should see a big loss? I know you said there is a pattern to your weight loss...

Hey ladies! Sorry I haven't been on the past couple days. I've had things going on and have been taking it easy in these past few days of my break. I start school tomorrow and then let the races begin!

My challenge this week will be getting my fitness in. I have school 5 days per week at 7:30am. I also am in charge of getting the kids to daycare in the morning so I'm feeling a bit frazzled about that. I think I'll either do a late evening workout or get up at 4 to get it in. I don't want to let it go cause I"m doing so well.

I weigh in on Friday again and hopefully will see something good. I've been great with fitness and food has been overall pretty good too. I haven't been counting calories the past few days but have made decent choices so I'm feeling ok about it.

Looking at our comments on food it reminded me of a quote Jillian Michaels says each time I have turned on her DVD. I got the "Get Ripped in 30 Days" DVD and she says, in the beginning, that you can "eat your way out of any workout". I giggled cause I'm sure I have done that more than once. So kudos to you Dawn for sneaking in that extra workout! I may have to do that a few times myself.

How was that Nickelodeon place Dawn? I haven't been to the Mall of America but would like to come check it out. I'm actually itching to get to MN soon. I have a friend that moved to Woodbury and I'm thinking I'll come visit her in the spring. I want to catch up and also get a chance to see the state since I've never been there (can you believe that?!).

Well ladies, let me know how your weekends went (goals wise and personal wise). Let's make it a great week and kick our actions into the next gear! Woot woot!

An exhausting weekend for me, for some reason. I need to shove off to bed. I am struggling still with eating too much this week, but was able to reign it in a bit today. So I made myself do an extra workout today to hopefully offset the damage my eating is doing! Such is life...I accept it and I will move on and keep plugging away at it day by day!

Have a good new week, ladies!

Amy- we got snow today also. We got 22 inches on Halloween, and then literally nothing since. And it's been in the 50's and 40's too. Very weird weather. I think NH has set a record for the least amount of snow fall. The kids actuall trick-or-treated in the snow this year and then had a green Christmas. The ski area near us is open but only because the weather has been cold enough at night to make snow, but they got a very late opening this year. Same with most of the areas. So weird. Thanks for the book title, I will need to look into that.

Dawn- .2lbs is still something. Im sure next week will be better, just stick to it. Snacking and nibbling here or there isn't that bad either, just make sure they are healthy nibbles..

Anyway, I am exhausted now and my kids are pushing my patience. Off to bed for me!

Well, I'm with you ladies on struggling with food lately! I really don't have TOM to blame right now, either! I am just doing too much nibbling and snacking here and there, and then when I track it, it all adds up to TOO MUCH!!! Not really sure why I am not in control this week. I'll keep trying to stay good, and not do too much damage. So far I am on pace with exercise, and I have my workout today which I will head to in a few minutes.

I'll have to do some online searching tonight, as we are headed to the Mall of America tomorrow to take Justine back to Nickelodeon Universe. She loves that place!! So I will be having food court food...oh, but I'm just remembering they have a Noodles & Co there, so I can eat a Bankcock Curry with Shrimp for luch! Awesome!! Good to go!

Have a great one ladies!!!

Hey Ladies!

Happy Thursday!

Well, I have to report that yesterday was a total BUST day for me. Jamie, I hear ya on TOM. He is ruthless and only makes me want naughty stuff...constantly! I get this way mostly before his visit and it drives me nuts cause I'm doing so well that I feel like I go into temporary insanity with food. haha

I did not work out yesterday either. I took it as my day off. I was up a lot the night prior so I didn't get much sleep and was running on empty. I didn't feel great at all so I figured I'd just forget it for the night. I went to bed pretty early which was good cause I got rest and managed to wake up at 4am...without an alarm! So yes, I've already went to the gym today.

Jamie~ The quotes I put in my blog are from the book "100 Days of Weight Loss" by Linda Spangler, R.N. I LOVE this book. I actually first got the quotes from a coworker. She joined WW and they provided this in email each day, I believe. She sent them to me and I eventually bought the book (sadly, when Borders was going out of business - RIP Borders) cause I loved it so much. She has a lot of insight and I love her writing style.

Dove is so yummy! They really are a good, manageable treat when you get the urge. I have to say I'm opposite of you Jamie. I don't prefer frozen chocolate. In fact, I put it in my pocket a few minutes so it gets just slightly softened and then I enjoy. I actually have forgot a few times and let's just say it's not fun to clean out of the pocket!

I love your idea about getting together for camping or a walk, I think you mentioned the walk a while back as well. That would be amazing if we could do it! I don't know when I could but if it was just me, for a few days, I might be able to swing it.

Dawn ~ It seems you know your body pretty well and have determined the patterns it goes through. That .2 probably is a bit discouraging but you know how it works and I know you are committed so, although disappointing, I know you'll brush it off and keep going! I love it!

Well, it's FINALLY snowing over here. It's been really strange in my state. We usually have a few good snowfalls by now and this year we've only got a total of 4 inches of snow over the winter thus far. It's seriously been like 40's and 50's. It was 53 yesterday! It's been bizarrely strange but we're all loving it. Of course, being true Wisconsinites, there are a lot of us who ahve missed it and are looking forward to getting out and having some fun in it! I'm already planning a sneak attack of snowballs on my kiddos. Mwahahaha!

Have a great day today ladies and stay warm! emoticon I'll check in with each of you later!

I just have a quick moment again tonight. For my weigh in yesterday, I only lost .2 pounds. It's a week that I don't feel like the scale told me what my work reflected, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Hopefully I'll do better next week. I have noticed that my body has a pattern of two weeks letting go of only parts of a pound, and then the third week it loses more than a pound. That just seems to be my body's MO. It is what it is!

Hope you are all doing great this week, and feeling good about yourself and what you have accomplished!

Oh BTW- my parents have a camp in Clayton, NY, which is part of the 1000 Island's region on the St Lawrence River. It's absolutely gorgeous there, and it's inexpensive. They are in a campground that also has cottages for rent. Might be something to think about someday, especially if we wanted to involve our families. It's an awesome place for kids!! And all our kids are about the same age. My parents camper is a full size trailer (mobile home) and would be available for us to use for cooking, etc. Plus they have a huge deck! So costs to go there would be minimal for all. Something to consider if we ever decided to try to get together.

The other thing I thought about was getting together for a good cause, like walking in the breast cancer 3 day. They have a walk in Washington DC that we could all meet at. Of course, doing something like that would also involve extensive fundraising, but the walk is amazing and very emotional! And we already have our team name and our team formed!

DD- Have you put your Dove dark chocolates in the freezer? I LOVE frozen chocolate, and frozen cookies. Someone once told me to put cookies and chocolate in the freezer to hide the temptation to eat them, but to me they are better. My grandmother always put her cookies in the freezer, so it brings back the memory of going to her house and into the freezer for cookies. That is so cute that Justine loves your Dove's too! Emma is selling girls scout cookies right now, and I put the thin mints in the freezer- awesome!!!

How was your weigh in yesterday? I love the philosophy of looking at the monthly weight loss instead of the weekly. I am still going to stick with monthly weigh in's for that very reason.

Anyway, still really tired today. And I need to get the kids some dinner (and me too, I guess, although I am not too hungry). Justin is getting over the stomach bug today and was too weak to cook tonight...

Hey Dewberries!!

Love the name change, Jamie!! Big hugs to you for your message and thoughts!!

I just have a second tonight. Yes, my weigh in is tomorrow. I did well this week with eating and exercise, so I hope to see something at least close to a pound loss. WW emphasises that a loss of 1/2 to 2 pounds per week is healthy. And then they tell you to take that on a MONTHLY average. As in, look at no one week alone, look at your progress over the last 4 week period...if you have lost 2-8 pounds, then you are on track. If not, then you need to tweak something. My weight loss is SLOW, but within range.

Glad my little snippets and tips are helping you all, too. It is part of what makes it worth the money to me, going to meetings and getting the encouragement and support of the group and the leader.

DJ (that's what I'll call you, Dewberry Jamie!) in regard to your comment about my having exercise under control but not eating. No, based on Sparks guidelines and WW info, I am eating the right amount for my exercise level. I just really love food!! And when I am eating to fill my stomach on veggies and fruits and good for you things...I sometimes miss the treats! But I do allow myself the little Dove dark chocolates. I am never out of those...and my daughter has now discovered them and loves them, too. She can't help it, she's a chip off the old block!! Anyway, I guess it is just harder MENTALLY for me to stay in control of my eating. I know that I am doing the exercise primarily for my health, and the weight loss is just a side effect of the healthy choice. Maybe that is why exercise is easier for me and the food is not. It is much more of a conscious effort for me.

Yes, I do think it would be fun to all meet up sometime!! We'll keep thinking and dreaming and maybe we can figure out a way to make it happen some day. Unfortunately, our family does not have a cabin or anything like that, which would make a trip more feasible monetary wise. But another fun thing to think about would be all meeting up at a place like LasVegas, where airfare is cheap and accommodations can be too. Just a thought!

I'll let you know how I do tomorrow. Nighty-night Dewberries!!

Red alert over! Here I am, and check out the new user name! hehehehe (mischievous laugh here)!

I got Amy's text and was laughing to myself over it as I was driving home (don't worry Mama Hen, I waited till I got home to txt back) The thoughts that went through my head...

* We are all Dewberries, so I have decided to nickname us all Dewberry, thus the change in my user name! Dewberry Amy, Dewberry Dawn and Dewberry Jaya. Maybe corny, I know. But it made me laugh!! But, changing my user name makes me feel more a part of this team, although I didn't need to change my user name for that.

* I have been reading this series of books, fiction, about quilters. One of the books involved 2 women who met on an on-line quilter's forum and who decided to meet at a "quilt camp" one week. They met 2 others and the 4 of them became the Cross Country Quilters. They meet once a year at quilt camp. I've been thinking that I would love to find an on-line quilters forum to meet people who love to quilt and sew as much as I do, when I realized I didn;t need a quilters forum because I already have 3 on-line friends with a like interest!! And maybe someday we will all get together on some really fun vacation adventure, like a spa, or something like that- hey I can dream, right??!!

* Being a part of a team of very supportive women has started to define my existance on sparks, because you hold me accountable. Dewberry Amy sending me a txt this afternoon reminded me that I needed to be on here to help you too, not just to get help...

So, that's where I am. Of course, tom is visiting today and I had onion rings at lunch because I was craving them, but I took Dewberry Dawn's latest advise to heart with this decision and reminded myself that one bad decision today was not going to define my entire day! Of course, I proceeded to have horrible diarrhea about 30 minutes after I ate them, and was further reminded (this time physically) of just how bad that decision was, but I did not beat myself up mentally for making it, the physical ramifications were definately enough!!!

Anyway, I am so happy to hear the progress you ladies are making! Dawn- I really agree that WW was a great choice for you! And I love the advise you have given recently. Amy made a comment recently about you always being in control of your exercise but not of eating. I am wondering it this is harder for you because your appetite is just reflecting your exercise level- hungrier due to exercise? I know when I am on a good exercise routine that I have a hard time keeping my eating in control because I am much more hungry. I might be off base, but just something I thought of and meant to comment on sooner. I think you should alwys give yourself a pat on the back though, you are a machine!!! Wish I could syphon just a little of that committment to myself!!

Amy- what is that book you are quoting on your blog? Sounds interesting and something I might be interested in reading. I am glad week 1 of flabuless (did I get that right?) went great for you! Awesome workout today! I hope you kids are better too (you too Dawn!!!)! There is a nasty stomach bug going around here and luckily my kids vomited only once (of course, for Leah it was in my bed!!)

Anyway, I am tired, cranky and sore because of tom, so I think I need to head to bed. Thanks for the text!!

A red alert was in order so I just texted her! haha I'm sure it will make her giggle (and hopefully pop on!).

Sorry to hear your little one has been ill Dawn. I hope that she is feeling better now.

Great job on the kickboxing! Sounds amazing! I really do enjoy kickboxing type of workouts.

I had to take a long lunch tody so I went to the gym. I did about 50 minutes on the elliptical and I feel great. 460 calories *POOF* gone!

I treated myself this weekend and bought two new Jillian DVDs. I got the "Killer Buns and Thighs" and "Get Ripped in 30 Days". The latter is the updated version of the Shred. I can't find mine anywhere so I figured I'd get this one since I like the format. I haven't opened them yet but will let you know when I do.

Dawn, is tomorrow your weigh in day? What are you expecting?

Let's make it a great week ladies!

Hey Ladies...

I think a phone call to Jamie might be in order??? Where are you??? RED ALERT!! RED ALERT!!!
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
My weekend was fairly noneventful. I ate well and within my points ranges all weekend. I took Sat off exercise, and got back to 40 mins of cardio kickboxing today. Feels Great!! I feel like I am really hitting my stride right now. Everything is flowing and good! I just hope I can keep up the good endorphins to keep from getting my daughter's cold. She caught a really nasty virus last weekend, and she has had fevers and a croup cough and all sorts of not fun stuff all week and all weekend. She seems better in the mornings, but then falls apart again in the evening...which is really part of her normal daily rhythm anyway!!

Glad things are working well for you, too, Amy!!

Hi ladies! I hope you each had a great weekend.

Mine was a bit challenging but I did manage to get in good exercise yesterday. I took today off cause I'm not feeling so hot. My kids were up all night Friday into Saturday. I think they ate something bad cause they were pretty ill all night. They were fine on Saturday but took a looong nap. I only got about 4 hours of sleep and have been exhausted the rest of the weekend. I'm going to bed soon to get some zzzs.

How was your weekend? Do anything fun? How was progress towards your goals?

Dawn, thanks for the encouragement. Your words are spot on and I have to take them to hear.t That's what tripped me up last time so I have to be careful not to get frustrated cause it can happen easily.

Have a good night ladies and all the best for a fantastic week! Can't wait to hear from you!

Amy,

Congrats on your loss!! It's great to see some immediate results when you make such positive changes in your life. Just remember that not all weeks will be as rewarding...but stick with it. That is one BIG thing I have learned in WW. Sometimes the scale just does NOT follow what you have put forth in effort for the week. This is the time to keep going...do not throw in the towel. Keep on going and you will see the results you are looking for. It is not strictly a week by week fight with the scale. Larger things are happening, and change takes time.

Gotta jet at the moment...have a great one ladies!!

Jamie! Welcome back! It's great to hear from you.

I love that post from WW, Dawn. Being hard on ourselves is easy to do and this reminds us of how mistakes don't have to be the end all. It makes me feel human in a good way. :o)

Jamie~ Glad that you are working on your goal of being healthy. What actions have you been taking to make this happen? Please share cause it's a new year and a new time to lay it all out there. haha

Dawn, Congrats on your success on the scale! I am so excited for you! WW really seems to have been a good decision. Lots of good tips, support, and RESULTS! Gotta love that.

I did great today. i have a long way to go to meet my 30 pound loss goal but I aim to get there! If I keep up like I did today, I know I can make this. I just have to keep my relationship with consistency!

Have a good night ladies. I'll chat with you more tomorrow. Gotta get the kids to bed.

Glad to have you back on board!!! Now for a little butt-kicking from Momma Hen...

First, something to glean from my WW meetings this week...don't think of any day as a bust because you made a bad choice...one bad choice does not deserve another. One bad choice means you are human, but you are capable of turning the day around with a healthy choice. This is not an all-or-nothing type of deal. This is your life. Every day is filled with choices and temptations. But if you stop for a second and listen for that thinner you crying inside to get out, you can make better choices. It is about progress, not perfection. Sure, you will slip up, but one bad choice does not give you a free pass to keep making bad choices for the rest of the day. Start right now...not tomorrow, not after the next big event, but now! Accept that all days will not be perfect...but narrow the path down and stick with your goals. You deserve to be happy and healthy. YOU ARE WORTH IT!!!!

Also, it is helping me to keep a weekly schedule of my meals on the refrigerator, so I can see my eating action plan for the week. If I have taken just a little time to plan ahead, it is so much easier to stick with what I have already decided on that is a healthy option! This tip might help you, since you just admitted you are a visual person.

OK, butt-kicking over...now here's a hug and a welcome back from Momma!

Hi Dewberies!!!!

Here I am, finally! Ive checked in a few times and saw Dawn's last post on 12/3, so thought we were silent again. Guess I was wrong!

So, I am sticking to the goal of just being healthy. Unfortunately I think I'm about 220lbs, which really DISGUSTS me!! I can't even sit on the couch and bend over my knees, my belly takes up so much space...

I am having some serious problems getting my food and exercise under control. I love Amy's idea of putting stickers on the days she worked out. I am such a visual person, that this is really appealing to me. I am heading to Michael's tomorrow to buy some really cute lady bug stickers!

I am planning to get on here as often as I can, but I will definately need some help! Hopefully you both still have my cell phone #, I am asking that you call or text me if you don't see me on here. I need to be held accountable!

Ok, off now. I just made my homemade pizza and it's ready. I know, I know, not the best thing to eat, but today has been a bust anyway- I went to BK at breakfast!

Here's to a more successful year!

Well, I did my weigh in today rather than yesterday, hence my late reply. Justine came down with a fever in the middle of the night Monday night, and it still has not broke yet, so we did not go to preschool yesterday. My mom came today as usual, so I was able to get to the meeting this morning. I am PROUD to say I lost 1.4 pounds this past week, making my total 10 pound down since I started WW in early October!!!!

OK, so I am pretty stoked about this right now!!

Glad to hear you are feeling great about getting back to the gym! I know how you feel, and it is important to get your momentum going. Just make sure with so many days in a row that you are varying what you do so that you don't over-do any one muscle group. No injuries!! That would really set you back and suck up your momentum!

I asked for and got the Spark People Cookbook for Christmas. I got another WW cookbook at the same time, so I really have not gotten too far into the SP cookbook. I must say that initally, it is a bit intimidating. It is around 450 pages, and has a lot of professional photography, so things look really good...but you almost don't know where to start!! Lots of yummy looking stuff, though!

Keep it up!!

~Dawn

Woo hoo! emoticon emoticon Here's to kicking butt!!! haha

So how did the weight in go? As expected?

I've went to the gym 4 days in a row thus far. Tonight will make 5 days. I know I should take a day off but I'm not ready to yet. I want to make sure and get my momentum going. Plus, yesterday I was in a hurry and only got 22 minutes in on the cycle so that was kind of my break yesterday. I have to say though, that cycling made me sweat!

How do you like the SparkPeople Cookbook? I see you bought it.

Amy, my goal is to MAKE my goal weight this year...trying for by May 1st.

I've been doing great this week, with exercise especially. Food has gotten better as the week went on and the holiday goodies went away! I expect for my WW weigh in tomorrow, I will have maintained, or lost a wee bit only. Then, I will KICK A$$ next week...my momentum is already in place!!

Good job on getting to the gym again. This is all for you and yourself! The food will come...it takes either time to wean down, or else just go cold turkey and stay hungry a little bit for a few days. Or take the WW strategy and eat veggies and fruits when you are hungry between meals...nothing better than that!!

Happy 2012 to you, too!! THIS IS OUR YEAR!!!!!

I hope each of you had a fantastic evening. I had an enjoyable day and good night so all was good.

Well ladies, I am proud to report that I have been to the gym 3 days in a row. Woo hoo! I have been watching food as well but have yet to make it within the range. I think I came close yesterday. One step at a time, I know I'll get there.

So what are everyone's goals at this point? Dawn, you've been going for a while so do you have any addendums for 2012?

Hope you all are well! Talk to yu soon

Hey there!

Yes, about the FB, I feel the same way. I'm not sure how long it will last but I'm gonna try. I was thinking of trying to start threads of common interest or mimic the buddy system we had here. That may help to narrow down for those who want a direct support/area of interest. And if people want to check posts then they can do that too. Trust me, this has been going through my mind already and it's only day 2! In my dream world everyone would just sign up here. haha

I think my problem has always been food. I got good at exercise in 2010 but 2011 has been terrible. So 2011 was truly bad in both areas. The only thing that I did keep up was portion control. I ate reasonable sizes, ate slow, and did not take more than was truly needed. That's probably what saved me from becoming mammoth.

Dawn, you truly are the SuperStar of Fitness! You have always been truly dedicated. I keep cute stickers in my planner on each day that I work out. When It gets filled up I am proud. I haven't even had a sticker in a while. Sad.

So today's report is that I went to the gym. Got 45 minutes in, ate good most of the day and then somewhat caved at dinner. I ordered :Pizza Hut for pizza friday ( i still do this). I ate one bread stick and two slices of Chicken Fajita Pan Style pizza. I am very full so this will put me over in calories. It's only Day One so I'm focusing on how well I did overall. Today was not a failure! haha

Cheers to a great weekend full of health and wellness!

So, I keep a separate calendar downstairs where I workout, and I always log on the date what I do for exercise, that way I can track it and be accountable for my workouts, and see where and when I slip up. Interestingly, my worst month of exercise was February, where I only had 11 of 28 days with some type of fitness logged. And that was when I was going through my knee PT, so I was stoping my normal exercise for a while. My best month of exercise was May, with 22 of 31 days with logged exercise.

I can see, once again, that for me, exercise is NOT the issue. It is the food. Food has been bad for me again the past few weeks, because of all the Christmas goodies in the house. I have been forcing my husband to take as much as possible to work with him, so it is out of my house, and out of my mouth!! I think I just might throw the rest away on Jan 1st!!

How have the rest of you been doing with fitness vs. food the past year?

Let's do this!!

Thanks, Amy! I'm just a little intimidated by the response on your FB group, though. Not necessarily because I don't know anyone but you, but because there are so many on, that it can get to be so many posts in just a day! How to keep track of it all and get to the things I need from it? We shall see.

Shoot...Miss J is up from her nap already, and she is none too happy. Better go cheer her up and head to the basement for my workout today!!

LOVE that you are starting EARLY this year!! We can do it!!

Dawn! No more echoes. haha

I'm so happy that WW has been working out so famously for you. I know you were hesitant in the beginning, not wanting to "pay" to lose weight, so isn't this great how valuable it's become. Woo hoo!

I am tired of the roller coaster too. I "tried" to do well a few times this year but overall I just didn't care. I didn't over do stuff in most cases but I did eat whatever I wanted without worrying about calories. If it wasn't for at least watching portions I think I'd be in terrible shape right now!

So where I stand is at 160 pounds which means I have gained 14 of my 26 pounds back. Boo. My goal is to lose 30 pounds total. 20 will make me happy and 30 will be the icing on the cake!

I see you just posted in the FB group. That actually started up when talking to some friends on FB. in 2010 I did fitness challenges on my Notes board. This year I wanted to do it again but a friend suggested groups which I hadn't thought about before. We chose this versus another, more cleaner, site because it would be convenient for people not to have to log in elsewhwere. We'll see how the group goes. Everyone's eager now so this is the honeymoon stage. haha

I'm here for you too so I'll be back. I look forward to coasting down the roller coaster from here on out. The hills and climbs are outrated anyway.

Cheers to health in 2012!

I know, Amy...echoes!!!!

Well, I hear your cry for help and I want you to know I am here for you!! I have been able to lose 9 of the 10 pounds I gained last year over the past 3 months since joining WW. They are great for support, too, and accountability!! Just what I needed to kick me in the rear!! So I am starting 2012 just about exactly where I started 2011 weight wise! Wish I could say I remained the same all year, but it was of course the 10 pound roller coaster for me! Up and down again. Sheesh. Am I tired of it!!

I need to sign off for now, but know that I am here and ready for action as always! I am doing great on the WW points plan, and I want to see the rest of those pounds go away in 2012. I just want to be at a healthy weight again! Keep signing on, and I'll be here!!

Hey there,
Happy Holidays ladies! I hope each of you are well.

As I write this I feel like a whale due to not caring about any type of calorie consumption what-so-ever. It's worse cause I'm wearing stretchy jeans. I'd rather be wearing the normal kind.

I hope each of you is well. I haven't read through the comments but it looks like there has been occasional activity here. Dawn, your comment about the cookies and table make me giggle.

I hope each of you is well. I HONESTLY plan to get back in the swing of things for my health soon. I have to be done with all this nonsense and just take care of it. I've been in an unusually girlie mood lately so I'm ready to focus on weight, vanity, and fashion. Oh yes, I just said all that! Don't know what the deal is but my inner girlie diva is coming out. It's strange too cause that is not who I am so I must be in need of a little change to shake things up a bit. Would you believe it, I even bought a copy of Cosmo the other day just for the heck of it. And the kicker...I liked it! haha

I hope each of you are doing well and having a great season. It's been weird over here. We've had about 2 sprinkles of snow but nothing to stick. By this time we usually have broke our backs shovelling and plowing. This is so bizarre. I'm enjoying it while I can though cause the winter feels "easier" without all the mess. I'm not gonna lie though, I would like to see some snow. It just makes winter so much easier. In my dreams there is zoning on snowfalls. You know, only on the grass, and not on any concrete. haha

Have a Merry Christmas ladies and a Happy New Year! I'll do my best to get my butt back here soon.

Well, looks like we are all MIA again!

I know, December is a busy and hectic month. I have been trying to be extra good about my eating lately, as I had injured my bad knee again last week, and was on strict orders (from my husband) to refrain from cardio until at least a week. It nearly killed me, but I waited a full week and it was feeling so much better! So I got in my regular circuit training again today and it felt really good...I just lightened up a bit on anything even remotely impactful of my knee, and I did pretty good. Then we get home tonight from taking Justine to an evening of bedtime stories in your pajamas with cookies and milk WITH SANTA (lots of fun!) and I stepped funny on the mat below the garage steps and twisted the knee just so, and it feels like poo-poo again!! AAARRRRUUUUGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Maybe I'll just crawl under the table with an ice pack and a plate of Christmas cookies and cry...

How have the tempting treats of the season been for you all so far?

Anything to share with a lonely old injured lady from MN??
