been there done that 2 dogs -one 45 lbs. another 96 lbs. with a 3 yo and a 1 yo!!!! My vet. laughed and said she was tired just being in the room with everybody and didn't know how I did it!!!!
Ohhhh how I know exactly what you mean. It is pretty much a guarantee that some food/foods will be demolished within the first 5 to 10 minutes. I do find that bringing various small toys in my purse helps. When he gets board with one, I bring out another. And guys can't understand why us ladies carry around those big purses, HA!

Shopping w/ the kids is the WORST. On Monday at the store, my oldest STOOD on one of the impulse shelves @ the register, broke it, and dumped 2 huge boxes of candy bars all over the floor. All b/c he couldn't keep his sticky li'l hands to himself.
UUUUUUUUUUUUUGH! Forget the diet coke. I need a cocktail!

Actually I go by myself when I take my walks also (if the weather would allow, it's kinda really snowy right now)because I can't keep my speed up, like you said trying to keep an eye on my 10 year old on a bike and my 3 year old in a stroller. It's just easier to go get it done by myself. Where I walk is a trail around a park and sometimes my husband and kids go but he takes them to the park so they can have fun while I get my walk in so that works too!

That makes sense. We all need our own time, and we need to choose where that time is most valuable to ourselves. For me, it's running or going to the gym. I need to do that alone or with a friend, but not with the kids, especially running - I just can't get into a good pace if I have to look out for 2 kids on bikes and 1 in a jogging stroller. So that's good you have your time. I would only suggest that before you're leaving, remind Daddy that this is your time, remind him how long it usually takes, and maybe even give some suggestions for what he can do to enjoy his special Daddy time. My husband likes to take our kids to movies or out for a treat occasionally. It's easier for him than to be home with them. Whatever works for each of us, we need that time, and we need our kids and husbands to help us have that time.

Don't get me wrong, my children behave well in stores because they know better, it's just when it comes to grocery shopping, mom goes BY HERSELF because that is MY time. I don't ever get MY time so grocery shopping is ALL MY TIME. :-)

My rule for shopping is ask once and if I say no, don't ask again. Any whining, hitting, fussing, etc. means I will leave the store with whatever I really need and nothing else. I've left a cart with kids' snacks in the middle of an aisle and walked out a few times so my kids know I'm serious. Today I took 3 kids to the dentist for my 4 y/o to get a cap repaired and my 8 y/o to get a tooth extracted. Then we went to an ice cream shop. Then we went to Ross, Target and Marshalls to find shoes for my 6 and 8 y/o and a jacket for my 6 y/o. They know they have to act right or we leave. It's going to be cold tomorrow so my 6 y/o can either behave in a store to find a jacket or wear the one at home from last year that she hates this year. She is the energetic one in my house. She is quiet all day at school and is fidgety and chatters a lot outside of school. So it's a challenge, but sometimes we just have to insist they follow some social standards. It's not easy, but after they learn the rules, it can actually be fun to shop with them.

My husband works nights and I work days. The weekends are the time we spend together and we always take three kids - 13, 10, and 3 - shopping!!! Usually the 13 year old is the worst! I always feel like I deserve a good hot cup of coffee!

I'm a stay home mom and my husband works (he's a graphic designer). I know I should and do take care of EVERYTHING since I don't work (OUT of the house that is)but when it comes to grocery shopping, my husband KNOWS he has the kids for the day because I WILL NOT take ANYONE with me to do this chore. I take my time and actually enjoy grocery shopping but it never fails, my husband always calls me atleast once while I'm shopping with, when ARE you coming home? Can a mom just have a LITTLE peace by herself PLEEEEASE??? By the way, I have a 10 year old girl and 3 year old boy. I try to be supermom also but we still need a break too! :-)

Boys have the most energy. I still think If I had 1/4 of my son's(5 yrs) I'd be set. It's like a law or something. They will outlast you.
I HATE shopping with the kids(5 yrs and 2 yrs) It's sooooooo Stressful. and I can come out with the strangest things.
But I think we all take our kids with us to places they and we would prefer they not be. Example mine went with me to the DR office(BY the way the VA is my doctor) What a trip 2 small kiddos and at least 14 older persons waiting for perscriptions. Nope not my idea of fun.

Just wait until they get older and spend their entire day trying to sit still at school while you're at work, and then take 3 restless kids and 2 new kittens to the vet. It helps to arm yourself with patience and a good sense of humor!

I am almost certain there is a disclaimer on most of the charts of most of the healthcare and pet care professionals that I visit that reads: HOMEMAKER- brings rowdy, busy kids with her. Children have tendency towards inexplicably loud volume and destruction.
Just so you know, we get the special room at the dentist. I think anyone who has kids gets it. If at night you have the same number of kids that you started out with in the morning and the ER people don't know you by your first name, you are a supermom.

I have a five year old little boy and if I had half their energy I would be set! Unfortuantly I also had the supermom attitude, it comes and goes! haha But if you ever need a spark buddy we could swap stories haha! Hope you had a good weekend with your little guys!

What is it with little boys? My two are 5 and 3 and if I take them anywhere by myself, I feel like deserve combat pay. To add a dog into the mix, you deserve some applause.

You DEFINITELY deserve an award for that. Sometimes I think us moms should earn little badges just like Girl Scouts do! You earned the "I took two kids with me to the vet" badge. I never ever get a sitter, unless I have to take my 75lb dog to the vet or I have a female doctor appointment.

Too funny. Have a sweet juicy apple as your reward. Had to laugh, made me think of when I thought I would take my 115 lb Airedale and my youngest was in the stroller and my oldest was about 3.5 yrs. My ADT is very stubborn and decided to SIT and SIT, kids were getting cranky and I didn't know if I should cry or laugh! I have not attempted this again.

It's a common problem. I bite off way more than I can chew, and by the time it's too late to change course, I realize what a stupid decision I just made.
Today I made the decision to take my dog to the vet, with my two kids, aged 5 and 2. Two boys. UGH.
Now all I can think is that I deserve some kind of reward for coming out of there, everyone in tact, no one missing any limbs, no bruises, the dog's business is taken care of, and while there was plenty of discipline doled out, We came out smiling.
Doesn't that deserve a reward? Come on. At least a diet coke. Except that that will cause starvation (cuz that's what it does to me, but ooooh how I love it...).
So I'm thinking, the sooner I realize I'm not supermom, the sooner I'll lose this crappy weight.
