I do a few small things for myself here and there. I tan (no judging!) on my lunch breaks fro,m work, I get an ipsy bag (a $10/month subscription for a little cosmetic bag filled with make up), and I workout. I think it's more about taking the time. I'm not afraid to say to my husband or my kids that mommy loves them, but I'm going to go to the basement for an hour alone and lift or go outside for a run. My husband is a great help and I am to him as well when he wants to go do something for himself.

Ever since my little guy was 3 months old, my husband agreed to let me participate in our county arts council plays twice a year. It's a lot of work and usually makes me pretty tired (especially the week before showtime) but it's time to be with adults (mostly) and do something that I love without having constant interruption.

I'm strange that way. I've been a martial artist for twenty years, and in some form, pretty much been combat trained since I was in training pants. Give me a heavy bag to beat up on for an hour or so or sit me in the weight room at the gym, and that helps me destress.

I'm a sucker for reading; I have aboue thirty books on my TBR pile right now. So that is a biggie for me too. Plus I enjoy making fandom music videos, so I work on those projects as well.

This weekend however, I bought an anti-stress mint mud mask and a pumpking spice candle for a long overdue hour long bath. Sometimes you just have to break away from the norm. :)

My me time is mainly the hour or so I am up after I get home from work. I work the evening shift so I get home around 11pm. Usually my older boys wake me up around 6am, rarely am I out of bed before one or both of them are up. I had started going to the YMCA twice a week to workout but fell off that wagon, really should get back on it.

This is going to sound really awful, but "Me" time would be the 5 min. I get on my porch to smoke a cigerette. I know that is bad, but I pretty much don't get any other time, and most the time I don't even get that!

This year I had an original new years resolution....start eating healthy and excercising. LOL. Three weeks in and going strong. Hoping to become a healthy mom to keep up with my son. My newest ME time is going to the gym. Trying to work it into my schedule and still get home at a reasonable time for dinner and family time.

"me" time is hard to come by thats for sure so I agree with many on that, but
Everyones sitation is different. I try to take the first day of the week
As a "mommy monday"where I can sew, scrapbk, go somewhere to just get away. My husband
Then pitches in so I can enjoy sum stresss free time. The rest of the week
Its utilizing nap times and bfor our kiddo wakes up in the morning or goes to sleep at night. Its then
That I take a bath or workout or do whatever I am feeling the need to do

i work whole week till late, while my husband looks after our 3 year old, so saturday is our time together, me and my son, while hubby gets day of. I love it, just me and my baby, it relaxes me as I miss him a lot whole week.than once he is in bed, Saturday night is mine alone, I paint, read or listen to the music. Sunday is family day which we always spend together, but in the afternoon I leave my boys and go for long relaxing bath, warning them not to disturb me under any circumstances.
I used to have no me time at all, as it would make me feel guilty and I would think of all the stuff I can do around the house or for my family instead. Until wise reiki healer told me that if I carry on I will be dead soon as my body is overstressed and overtired.

Most of my me time is at the gym. there's daycare provided (thank goodness!!).
I work from home and my toddler is home with me, so "me" time is hard to come by. Especially since he has now decided he no longer wants to nap emoticon
When my hubby is home I try to sneak out and go grocery shopping by myself. It's not relaxing but I'll take it!
Sometimes when hubby is home I'll go into our bedroom and listen to music or read a little bit

I'm also a big crafter! it keeps me sane but it's hard now with my son not napping. BOO!! mommy needs that naptime back

Hoping to find some more ideas here!

My ME time happens at different times. Every morning from 5-6 is for me. I get up do my yoga (now...I had stopped that for toooo long) Then I have my coffee. Pack my meals and snacks and I try not to think about how busy my day will be until at least 6. My daughter often gets up before I leave at 6:30 but not always now that she is getting older.

I also over see my school districts National Board for Professional Teaching Standards program. This is energizing to me to work with people in this process. I became an NBCT before I had Mary Helen and really saw the value in the process.

And this year I am on the governing board of a start up charter school in my district...they has been ME time because I am growing and learning so much as we work through all the state requirements.

AKCHELLE-
Bahaha! Do you close your eyes & pretend you can't hear them banging on the door, too?

In all seriousness, I agree with ISSA1010. You need something that is yours and yours alone. Though lazy me time is pretty nice (best I remember...), having your own hobby, interest, sport, whatever, that you do by yourself allows you to find "ME" again. Having your own identity in that circle is very relaxing and liberating.

I have been taking Spanish lessons for a few years and now teach ESL once a week. That is MY thing. I am "la maestra"- not M & A's mommy, not S's wife, not accountable at work- simply la maestra.

My me time is when I drive home from work. Sad to say, but as soon as I get home I take a hot shower and I'm in bed by 1130. I work full time and on my feet the whole time at work so I'm glad I get the time to breath and relax and not come home to two toddlers running around full throttle.

I was surprised to learn this year that "me time" was not the laid-back, lazy time I always thought it should be! I started coaching a local high school marching band (I help with the colorguard--flags, rifles, etc.). Their program is competitive and is very active, so a lot of time was put in to rehearsals and competitions. But throughout all that activity, I found a peace I had not known in a long time. It was so rewarding and fun that it hardly felt like work! I used to be very active in colorguard when I was younger--band, winterguard, drum corps. Then I was out of it for awhile, and it felt wonderful to be back. It gives me the chance to be creative, to work hard at something, and to form relationships with great young men and women. That's my "me" time!

i dont get much "me" time. I own a small business and work long hours and when im not working i have kids (3 and 5) plus my neighbors 5 yr old since we have half day kindergarten and switch on with the kids. i used to call the gym my sanctuary until my son started to hate it and would scream bloody murder whenever we arrived. i have a glass of wine 1-2x's a week with my neighbor which helps alot with the destressing. i think friendships are soo important and i dont have any friends where we moved to except single friends with no kids. i bought a treadmill so 3-4x's a week after the kids are in bed i get to run which helps with the stress. i usually put a movie on to watch but i need to get more sleep so if i get home too late from work i dont run. wish it was easier finding a balance! the other day i took my daughter for a bike ride and it was such a good time! however its very rare that i only have 1 one of my kids.

My little ones are 8 1/5 and 2 ..... so after the oldest goes off to school, nap time is usually "ME" time; which is when I exercise and then take a nap if I have time. Also I have a wonderful husband who will kick me out the door any time he feels I need it. =)

Hmm..I read what I wrote in July and realized I STILL am not getting enough ME time. Guess I must take my SuperMom powers to make this happen! haha

Now that it's Autumn I can truly say that I ADORE the colors and breezes that come with the season. I would like to just sit in my yard, kick my feet up, read, and not feel the pressure of needing to do anything. With that said, maybe a park at least 30 minutes from my house is a better option to control that. haha

My ME time is spent outdoors in the garden or just working in the yard. I like the quiet and peacefulness of nature. I do allow the kids to help out in the garden, as I believe it is important.

Hmm... I haven't thought about this so reading different blogs I am getting more of an idea about me time. My me time is asking my husband if he can watch the little one so I can get my hair done or go to the store to spend some shopping money. Also, reading or writing in a journal when my kid is sleeping. Which recently he hasn't been lately so I just have to make do. Lately he has been wanting to spend time with me a lot more. I think he senses that there is a new baby coming along in a week or two so he wants to spend some time. I am not sure.

The time for change is now

@ RYKEL22

I always get "Why what are you doing?" followed by some lame excuse for him not to when I ask my hubby to watch the kids too. He wants a reward for everytime he changes a diaper.

This weekwnd I was pretty proud of myself though. I had an adult family birthday party to attend at a fancy restaurant and had planned on getting a sitter so we could both go but when he said he would rather go to the high school football game I decided to take my 6 mo. old with me and send our 2yr old with him. It worked out great she had an awesome daddy date and I had wonderful adult time. (My 6mo old is a dream, and didn't get cranky til it was past bed time.)

One could not imagine how different this is from normal me.

Right now I don't get in as much as I should (seems to be a recurring theme for lots of us!). I truly enjoy to unwind with a good book so I typically read after the kids go to bed. I only do this a couple times a week since I'm usually playing catch up on other things that need to get done.

Besides that, my husband and I have a pretty good deal going where we get a "weekend off" to be with friends, or just by ourself, at least once every month. It provides some balance so we can get out, be with other adults, but don't have to worry about feeling bad about doing it. As mentioned though, I haven't been taking my time in the past couple months so my balance is OFF! haha

My me time is when I go to "work". I know it sounds crazy, but my husband is deployed, and unless both children are asleep (my 3 1/2 and my 14 mo old), I'm constantly bombarded with stuff to do. So, I volunteer 2 days a week, and my kids go to day care then. I get a break from them, they get a break from me, and I really enjoy what I do (I volunteer at a hospital doing administrative stuff). It recharges my system and reminds me that I'm a human being, with lots of interests, not just a mom with kids.

Me time is when I force myself out of bed in the morning for my walk. Then if I still need more me time I try to stay up after the kids go to bed while my husband watches tv. The days that I am really stressed out I leave the kids with my husband to go grocery shopping or pay a bill.. ha its funny what seems like "me" time when you have kids. Pretty much any quiet time feels like me time when I can get one.

This one really hits home for me! I have been feeling anxious lately because I feel like I have too much going on in my life. I am a mom of 3 beautiful children ages 10, 5 and 3, I teach high school, I am a graduate student trying to earn a doctoral degree in education administration, I am the president of our teacher's association and a wife to my husband. How do I find time for me?????

I have started running at the gym. There is a child care there, so the kids have fun and I get to listen to great music and work on my fitness. I am also a firm believer in a massage atleast once a month. I work a very stressful job where I am on my feet the entire day. Massages help me relax.

I have started using my morning walks as my me time. I leave the house before my girls wake up ( I still have 2 baby sitters in the house my 21 y/o and my 16 y/o if he isn't working) and I go the the rec center near my home and walk the trail around the lake, and sometimes I mix it up and walk the nature trail which I was totally surprised that I could do without stopping and gasping for air.

I had trouble with me time (still do) after my youngest was born. My husband worked during the day. He had to do mandatory overtime and also has to travel 2. 5 hours a day to and from work. I started to crave out little bits of time when I started putting my youngest in a sling, and the oldest in a stroller during her cranky time of the day and walking. She got a nap, my youngest was content to be with me and I had time to relax and listen to nature, look at the plants and remembered what breathing...real breathing was.

In general, my Me time is driving to/from work... it's 30 minutes each way. I have resorted to audio books (since I never have time to read anymore), so I listen to my book or sing and relax.
I also really enjoy my running time - I take the dog and we go run for 30-60 minutes on the days my husband is home - after the kids eat dinner. DH gets them ready for bed while I go relax :-) (Of course, I'm training for a 1/2 marathon... so it is a destress... not sure about the relax :-)

"Me" time has been tough lately. I have a 2 month old daughter, in addition to my 2 year old. I used to have a couple of hours after the eldest went to bed, but no more. It is a bit easier now than it will be soon. I'm currently on maternity leave, so I can sneak away in the morning every once in a while when my husband is home. After I go back to work, it will be harder because we work opposite schedules, I work days and he works evenings. He has the kids in the mornings and I have them in the evenings. I'm working on loosing some baby weight, and in addition to not liking exercise, I'm having trouble finding the time to fit it in.

Have you looked into any of the "Mommy and Me" workout videos? I have been researching them lately and they look great. I haven't tried any though, just thought I'd throw that out there and see what you think.

ME time is very hard to find for me! I'm a stay-at-home-mom of two daughters, 2.5 years and almost 8 weeks. They NEVER nap at the same time (if the older one even naps at all)! My husband works overnights from midnight to 8am, so both girls are usually awake before he gets home. Since I don't work right now, my husband works overtime a lot during the day, or if he's not, he's sleeping. There is never a single minute when I don't have at least one child attached to me. I'm literally "on duty" 24/7!! I l want to go to the gym, but have no one to watch the kids, and I don't feel comfortable putting a newborn in daycare there. I can't seem to find a single hour of the day to do anything for myself. Any advice?

I used to get my me time when the kids went to bed. There bedtime used to be 8:30, but since they are getting older (going on 4), and the sun is staying out later the kids have been pushing it and sometimes not getting to sleep until 10:30 or 11! That's when I'm tired and ready to sleep! I've been trying for their new bedtime to be 9:00 (get ready at 9, sleep by 9:30) but obviously that hasn't been working. *SIGH* So, most of my "me" time is unfortunately at work where I'm attached to a desk for 4 hours.

I am up an hour or two before the kids and stay awake another hour or two after they go to bed. It can be tough sometimes to keep that energy going, but it is so worth it!

I learned the hard way that you have to almost force "me-time" In a busy house with three kids, two that I homeschool. My husband and I are both full time students ourselves and we also help take care of my parents (mother has two fake hips) So yeah, me time is something I don't often think about, the kids, husband and parents never think about offering it either. Sometimes it's a bath though, if I find time to sneak away for a few minutes, but lately it's been getting my nails done. Wonder of all wonders, I got french tips put on and the husband liked the way they look so much that he insisted I continue to keep them. That means a 25 dollar trip to the manicurist every two weeks and there I can chat away to my hearts glory and feel completely pampered as well! Thank god for whoever invented fake nails!

I have never planned any "me time" until last week. I made a list of thing I like to do and have asked my mother to watch my son, so I can spend some time focusing on ME. Whether it is taking walk, going to the beach or the mall, seeing a movie, volunteering, getting a pedicure, or reading a book. It is extremely important to do something for yourself. During lunchtime at work, I have an hour. Even though it is REALLY REALLY hot (Florida) I take a walk to fit in my exercise. When I get stressed I make a cup of tea and try to meditate/ relax at my desk for a few minutes.

Trust yourself

The last time I had me time was about 3 weeks ago. And it took a fast to get it. I would always be so stressed. I would feed the kids then my husband and never had time to feed myself if i had time. Get people up and out of the house and still my have my 23 month old to care for. So I decide to do a fast to help with my weightloss, but also to help me focus and remind myself that i do possess control and will power. So it was a water fast that I did for 3-4 days. I would on occassion eat a banana, strawberries, or a citrine to provide myself with energy since i needed it for the kids. But this break from food was so wonderful. I didn't have to rush to eat, ever really, and my mind became clearer and less clouded. I became happier and focused! IT opened up a whirl wind positive things. I learned about how to eat properly after a fast which is basically how you should eat anyway! IT was fantastic and I am still feeling the effects of it! And if I start to forget about how much will power I have I will fast for a day or two to give myself a gentle reminder.

I wish I could get up at 5am like some of you ladies to workout at home!! I need my sleep though... I get "me" time after the kiddos (three of them, 3yrs old and under) go to sleep. I either read, or work on my devotional book, or go online. Recently, I started going to the gym. They have daycare, so I get to really just focus and not have to worry about a thing. My three year old loves it and even gets exited when she learns we are going to the gym!

My husband is a shift worker and we try to get doubles in as often as possible (that is our vacation money)...for me, I get up at 5am during the week, which gives me an hour before I have to get ready for work...and then the kids (4 & 5) go to bed between 7 - 8 pm and I get an hour or two before bed. I read, I facebook, I spark, I have a couple of TV shows I love...I journal, I exercise, I meditate...I'm lucky that my gym is a family gym, so I can go to the gym and workout (TRX is my favourite) while my kids are in a kid's fitness class (they run around and play games)...I am thinking about joining a local pool because I love the hot tub and the steam room...I'm still researching that!

It was enjoyable to read what everyone else does!

I'm so excited it sounds good to you! I know it was a bit of a long post and it sounds like a lot of work, but once I started capping off my time for certain things, I realized--much like with dieting--that a smaller helping of some of my favorite things was enough to sustain me in a day as long as I was doing it regularly. Plus, if extra time does come along (which is a rareity, I know), then you can always do more of what you love the most. You sound really busy too--I wish you luck with your teaching career. It must be challenging to have to keep yourself so present for everyone all the time at work and then at home--I wish you luck with finding pockets of time for yourself!

Lynn, this is amazing. Do you mind if I borrow it? I have the same problem, with a workaholic husband, a full-time job, a 3yo and a 8mo, time is not on my side. But when I do find it, I feel guilty doing something for myself and usually spend it on the kids oe the hubby. I am grumpy because of it. I am gonna try to CELEBRATE me! I deserve it! We all do! Thank you so much, you have enspired me!!! emoticon

My me time is exercising now. I just leave my husband to tend to our kids and go to gym. i dont look back, dont even listen to my 11 month old daughter crying for me ( she is into her clinging phase). A fit me is worth more to my family than fat me.......
Steam bath is very distressing for me and I love it. After a great workout session steam bath......I am in heaven.
And by the time i come home from Gym..many purposes are solved,, my hubby understands stress of looking after 2 kids and kids realise why mom is best......

A while back I found that I was stressing out really easily and it struck me that even when I gave myself "me" time, I then felt guilty for everything else I was not doing. I wrote down a list of things that I really wanted to be able to devote time to every day but that seemed impossible to do so. I came up with an acronym that has really helped me try to keep certain things a priority every day. I warn you readers now--this is a bit of a long post due to the explanation of my acronym.

The acronym is CELEBRATE. C is for computer--I like to be able to respond to e-mails, go onto sparkpeople and do whatever online, but I found I would either spend way too much time or not get any in a day. So I allot at least 30 minutes every day that I can sit down and take care of some computer stuff. (I usually do this when the kids are watching Sesame Street.) the first E is for exercise--once I get my workout in, not only do I feel accomplished and just better from the endorphins, but I also get to check it off my daily acronym/list. L is for learn--I try to spend 10-15 minutes every day catching up on news (cnn.com is good for this) or learning something new (for a while I was reading one of those "Intellectual Devotional" books). the second E is for energize--this means I try and spend 20 minutes a day doing something totally chill--watching a TV show I like, reading a magazine, taking a nap or a bath, whatever. B is for bible because I found that I never read it and I wanted to start, so I did. I read a little bit every day. R is for read--this is 20 minutes for strictly pleasure reading, usually fiction, mystery, whatever I am in the mood for....I try to keep a book going. A is for amen--I try to remember to pray and thank God every day and though I know it's kinda sad that I need a letter in an acronym to remind me of this, I have found that it truly enriches my life to pray regularly. The T is for tidy--I am not a neat-freak, but I do like things to be generally tidy around our house. I do one sweep of the house (and a quick one at that) every day. The family room might get messed up the following second by the kids tossing around their toys, but I don't care--I've done my tidying for the day. And since I only spend 10 minutes or so a day, it doesn't feel like a lot of work, but it keeps things relatively sane. The last E is for epicurean. I didn't know what that word meant before I did this acronym thing, but I had trouble coming up with this last one. Epicurean can be associated with lavishness, but in this case I use the connotation that has to do with enjoying good food. I love to cook and I make dinner most days of the week (my husband takes the weekends!), but sometimes it can get really boring and turn into something I have to do. This last E reminds me to take pleasure even in the every day dinners I make--or when I make cookies with the kids or whatever.

In the end, my letter-list adds up to about 3 hours per day. Since a lot on the list are things I need to be doing anyway, I find that it isn't too much "extra" time that I need to be able to say I've given myself some "me" time. A lot of days there are some things that don't get done, and I have found that I am pretty okay with that, as long as I try to get most in. And going through the letters during the day reminds me that I am CELEBRATE-ing life by taking part in a lot of things in moderation.

Sorry this is such a long post--but I hope this helps someone.

I work 40 hrs+ a week and when I am not at work I spend as much time as I can with my little girl. I feel like I barley have enough time to spend with my kid and dogs much less get me time. Any suggestions on how I can fit a little me time with out feeling like I never see my daughter?

I am sort of bad at carving out "me" time. I feel like after I do the cooking and cleaning and planning the age appropriate game of the day for each of my little munchkins, I'm so tired I could just fall over. I had to close myself in a closet the other day just so I could talk on the phone for ten minutes. My destress activities involve sewing and reading.

Places I find "me" time

*To and from work
*after kids go to bed
*eating lunch alone at work

That's about it - the great thing about parenting is that everyday is a new day/phase for us. So soon, I'll be looking for different and new times for "me" time!

"Me" time is working out/training. Adult time is after 8-8:30PM when our daughter is in bed. It's also my wife's "me" time if I'm out for an evening run. Some Sat. mornings I take my daughter to the pool to give my wife a break. Or I take her in the jogging stroller when it's warmer.

Destressing is woring out for me. Or a little TV distraction, reading, or doing some work around the house. Creating order and cleaning, I find relaxing somewhat because there's a lot of satisfaction when the house is clena and neat.

I take a dance class on monday nights and I try to get to the gym at least 3 days a week. On weekends I rely on my husband to pick up a lot of the slack and I often find myself going window shopping or to the book store. I can spend hours in a bookstore.

I'm a student with TWO preschoolers and I admit that I relish school partly because I get to leave the house without grape jelly on my shirt. :D I run before school and that is my wake up/respite. I also takethe kids to the gym with me and they play with other kids while I bust out my daily exhaustion. I'm a much happier mommy when I get my workout in.

Let's see. Before starting losing weight. My ME time would be right after the kids went to bed. I would do lots of crafting or scrapbooking or edit for my photography. Now, since starting this weight loss journey I haven't really had time for any of that stuff unfortunately. I'm barely keeping up with my 365 photography project and I'm way behind. So for now I am trying my best to get to bed earlier than before. But I relax in bed watching my fave shows on my iPod or listening to some music and sometimes reading a book too. That makes me sleepy. :) Hopefully once I get used to all this I'll have more time to craft again.

I attend a Bible study once a week for a couple of hours. I also try to get up a few minutes early a couple of day a week to have quiet time just for me. I NEED that time.

My me time I have just recently created when I joined spark people. At first I have to admit I felt guilty!! I never do anything for myself. I never do anything with out including my husband and now my 2 1/2 yr old little girl. But I recently joined Zumba. Only one night a week for an hour! It is me time and a destresser for me! I love it, I feel good about it, as it is something healthy that I am doing for my body mind and soul!

My me time although few and far between is made during naptimes and after bedtimes. I try to plan ahead of time if its to get out but I do try to walk daily.
Sometimes my me time is taking the kids to the park and laying back in teh grass well they play. Thank heavens for selective hearing.

My "me" time is on Tuesdays. For a long time I felt guilty if I took my kids to a sitter if I didn't have something specific planned. I've gotten past that a long time ago....with six kids, you have to plan your "me" time and plan it well.

My husband works evenings and sleeps in the mornings so it isn't feasible for him to keep them. I stay home during the week and work weekends, so the weekends are not an option. So I just picked a day, found a babysitter and every week on that day, the kids go to the sitter. I'm down to just one at the sitter, but it's wonderful. That's when I schedule my haircuts, or an occasional massage, or read, or sew, or sit quietly and crochet, have lunch with friends, or go shopping (even if it's at the hardware store - that's my retail therapy!)

Just like scheduling exercise, I've found that "me" time has to be scheduled or it just doesn't happen.

My me time is my lunch break at work. I get a little over an hour to take and somedays I go workout at the fitness center at my work. Other days I go to a park nearby and read my favorite book, or pray and study my bible. This time each day really helps me to de stress.

My ME time is when my on goes to bed at 8. I watch tv and/or read. And my son goes to preschool 4 days a wk for 4 hrs a day and I only work 2 of those days so I get that time as well to just take a walk, SHOP!, and even bake.
Also, this may sound weird but theres a memorial park by my house that has all these old headstones from 1800s & early 1900s. I love to walk the trail & just look at the stones. I like to do the math too to see a persons age haha

Similar to many others, my me time is when i wake up early to workout and get ready for work. Also if my little guy is still sleeping when I get home from work that is my time as well. Not too much me time right now.

I'm a SAHM of 2 young girls and for a while I didn't believe that I could have me time, but I've found that I can get up a 5:30am before everyone else and go to the gym for 30-60 mins. Then come home and have a few more mins to myself before I need to get breakfast going and get the daily chores started. The summers were a little tough because my girls stayed up later and got up earlier so finding this time then was tough, so I took them to the gym child care while I worked out. I also take a book into the bathroom with me for a few minute me time, but that doesn't always work.

My me time used to be when my daughter went to bed. My husband was at work and I could just relax. Now my me time is at the gym. I put my head phones on and do my thing.

ME Time? What is that? I have a 7,5, and two year old and work part time...that I think is the reason I am overweight...go, go, go. having a husband with terrible eating habits and skinny as a rail doesn't help much either!

I get me time on Mondays from 9-12 then again on Fridays from 9-12 that's when my 3 year old is in pre school. I'm a stay at home mom and take care of a elderly lady who lives with us. so I usually am found sitting in front of my computer on facebook during those times. I also try and get in some facebook time during the day while she's napping. I know it's sad but I'm left alone and I can have my me time.
I'm always looking for ideas on what I can do other then cleaning cause I often clean and feel like the maid.

The most ME time I get[being a stay-at-home mom} is the 2 hrs. each day he naps. I ,however, have a VERY understanding hubby and he will take our son to Grandma's {nearby--5 min.} and have them visit for most of the morning so I can get in my ME time=workout @ the gym and personal errrands /ME time for a few hours one day a week!!!!! emoticon
Note to Moms: I had to NEGOTIATE this arrangement to attain it and KEEP it!!!!
To destress---I ALSO read at night ,even a little!! I belong to a MOMS Club locally that helps ALOT---we have park playdates & activities to do WITH the kids and TALKING to other moms while the kids play is a stress-RELIEVER!!!!!!!!!!!
While preschooler naps, besides doing abdominal quick workouts {5 min.}, I scrapbook, crochet, make real egg ornaments or do OTHER stuff instead of housework! I save most of that for when he's awake and I really PLAY with him more than get much done b/c these years go FAST!!!!!!!!!!

This is exactly what I was looking for....ways to destress! I have a VERY active and attached to my hip 2.5 year old, significant family health issues, and 2 jobs....I think Stress has become my middle name! I am desperately looking for suggestions. Right now I have been reading at night before bed. That seems to help a little but I usually fall asleep after 5 mins. lol

WOW this is exactly how I feel! I was wondering if anyone else feels this way. I am joining this group to get some pointers. I am ready to make a change in my life-getting more "me" time.

Throwing darts with the hubby to destress. My ME time is riding my exercise bike...it's a recumbent and I do it after my kiddo is in bed, sometimes I watch a favorite movie or I read while I ride. It's really good....I almost always feel better after a good sweaty 15 miles!

With working from home there really is not much "me" time. Usually during the school year I have a church group that I meet with once a month as well, another that meets once every quarter, as well as church and Sunday School. These are only for a couple of hours but its great. I occasionally get time to go to the gym if my mom is available to watch my boys but that is about it.

Destressing usually comes twice a week when my mom has my boys for the day. Of course the stress of getting my paid job done then comes in so I don't know if you can really call it a day of destressing.

I have a hard time getting "me" time. I always feel a little guilty when I'm not devoting 100% of myself and my time to my daughter/husband. From the time I get up till I go to bed I'm usually cleaning, cooking, reading, playing, coloring, etc. Does anyone else have trouble with feeling guilty about focusing any amount of energy on themselves?

I get my "ME" time early in the mornings while the rest of the family is still sleeping. I hit the treadmill and Curve's before work so that leaves plenty of "FAMILY" time in the evenings.

I signed my two kids up for swim lessons this summer twice a week, which has turned into a great opportunity to sit back and read. After the the first two lessons, I discovered they are more brave when I'm not watching and waving at them. So now I sit back a little further, steal a few glances and lose myself in a book while doing something great for them.

If I can get a shower without having to bath a kid too, I turn the water a lot hotter (than if I had one of the kids with me) and stand in the stream.

Also, I go to the bookstore after my husband gets home and curl up in a chair and read magazines.

my kids are 4, 2, and 1 so any time I can get I have to take.
