I haven't been to the gym but my husband put up his pull up bar and I am practicing on that. It is not easy =( I am going to try every day. I can hold myself up there but I can't dip down and get back up.

I haven't worked on my the last couple of weeks. I have been doing more cardio. Trying to start running, currently doing 2/1 minute walk/run intervals.

Okay I am still on 2 sets of 10 at 80lbs and 1 at 90lbs. Might be here a while. Haven't been going to the gym regularly. Going tomorrow but will probably be the same. How's everyone doing?

I went to the gym last night and did 1 set, 15 reps, @55 lbs and 2 sets, 15 reps, @50 lbs. I am moving right along. Next week I may try doing all 3 sets @ 55 lbs so I can be ready for phase 2 by March.

It's so much fun to have someone to do it along with me! Thanks for getting involved. Man, that last set was killer. It will be awhile before I can do 3 sets of those lol. I'm going to keep trying though. The victory will be well worth it. Keep up the good work!

I did what I said, I raised the weight on Saturday to 1 set, 15 reps, @55 lbs and 2 sets, 15 reps, @50 lbs. Planning on going to the gym later today.

Ok...back on track...last night I did 1 set, 15 reps, @50 lbs and 2 sets, 15 reps, @45 lbs. I am going to raise the weight on Saturday to 1 set @ 55 lbs and 2 sets @ 50 lbs...when I can do all 3 sets @ 55 lbs I have completed Phase 1...almost there!!!!

Well we found out Sunday that my son made the playoffs and had a game last night so I didn't make it to the gym. I am going today but I don't want to mess up my routine so I won't be working on the pullups until tomorrow.

Well due to snow I have only been to the gym once since beginning this - and making it to a park is just not possible - 22 inches on the ground, another 8-20 on the way. Oh, and the kids, having a snow WEEK....thank goodness for Spark workout videos and my dance DVD, otherwise I would be fatter and stir crazy by the end of the winter.....

Great Job Fotomaker. Welcome to everyone that has joined us on this challenge. I didn't go to the gym after the walk yesterday. Between getting up early and walking at a faster pace than I'm use to, I was wiped out. So I came home and took a nap and before I knew it, it was time to get ready for a party we were invited to. I will definitely be working on it on Monday.

I'm up to 3 sets of 10 at 80 lbs. Going to be there for a little while. It's still a little tough. Did 2 sets of 20 on "assisted" pull up machine. Can't wait until I can do it on my own.

Worked on the challenge last night. I did 1 set, 15 reps, @50lbs and 2 sets, 15 reps, @45lbs. I am thinking that Saturday I may try 2 sets @50lbs. I don't seem to be struggling as much @45lbs.

JUST found this - but it's exactly what I wanted. Being able to do a pull up - well, it would banish all those nasties from my elementary school gym classes, those things that haunt me (only when i let them, mind you) to this day. I
ve always thought it just wasn't possible, but maybe it is....guess now I HAVE to find out!

I worked on the challenge yesterday. I did 1 set, 15 reps, @50lbs and 2 sets, 15 reps, @45lbs. I'm getting close to being able to do 25% of my weight which is 55lbs. So hopefully sometime next month I will be moving to Phase 2 which is doing the pulldown machine standing @ 50% of my weight.

i know i'm late, but i'm going to try this one. i have very weak shoulder and upper arm strength. i remember doing the bent arm hang in elementary and high school and being able to do it longer than any other girl, but now, forget it!!! i would love to have that ability back! emoticon

Went to the gym last night and worked on the challenge. I did 1 set, 15 reps, @50lbs and 2 sets, 15 reps, @45lbs. For some reason my workout whipped my butt last night. Today I think I will start my workout with 10 minutes in the sauna and them hit the bike and finish off with another 10 minutes in the sauna. It's working so whats a little pain.

Yeah it is alot of fun, especially when you have a buddy. My buddy is doing it with me too. I did two sets of 10 at 70 and 1 set of 10 at 80lbs. Yay! We are getting there! Slow and steady whens the race right? When I am able to do one, I am going to get my friend to take a pic of me doing it so you guys can see. I hope you all do the same. I plan on working on the challenge today.

I went to the gym last night and work on the challenge. I did 1 set, 15 reps, at 45lbs and 2 sets, 15 reps, at 40lbs. I even attempted the assisted pullup machine and was able to do 2 pullups using 112lbs of assistance. I'm exactly sure how the assisted pullup machine works, but I think this translates to doing a pullup as a 103 pound person.

ok so saturday I got in 2 reps at 60 pounds and 1 rep at 70 pounds. Gonna try for 2 reps of 70 on tuesday.

I worked on the challenge yesterday. I did 3 sets of 15 reps at 40lbs. I lowered the weight just to see if I could get all the reps in. Even at 40lbs it wasn't easy. I will try again on Saturday hopefully, if not definitely Monday.

I went today and did three sets @ 50lb. 12 reps standing up. I wait 2 days inbetween and do it twice a week.

Didn't do to well with my pullup challenge. I did 5 reps @ 50 lbs, 3 sets. I wouldn't recommend working on this challenge 2 days in a row. I am resting today and will give it a go again on Wednesday.

yeah they are tough but hang in there. Just do what you can do until you get better at it. That is what I am going to do. You can do it!

I started Phase 1 today. I did 50lbs, 7-10reps, 3 sets. I say 7-10 because I struggled with the last 3 reps in each set. I guess I have my work cut out for me.

Yay! Awesome more Spark friends to share this challenge with me. I did my 2nd set of lateral pull downs today. Man my shoulders are sore. Hope that means it's working. I think next try I am going for 50 pounds. Anyone started yet? How is it going?

Wow! Watching me attempt a pull up would be funny enough to post video footage! :) It'd be one heck of a reality check. Hmmmm... I may give this one a try. I'm noticing I'm not finding myself as strong as I thought I once was, so I may give this one a go.

I am going to skip this challenge. I need to concentrate on more basics first and try to form a routine before starting this one. Good luck. I remember being able to do the underhand pull up in middle school. It was about then that I became weak and I guess lazy! Times change though and I think I am back on track.

So I just read a great spark article that inspired this next challenge. I hope you guys will join me.

How many here can do a pull up? I know I definitely CANNOT lol. It is something I wished I could do. Well the following article shows you how to train for pull ups. There are 2 options: 1 is gym training and 2 is non gym training so I think everyone who wants to learn to do a pull up can participate.
