I currently went from 1000mg Metformin to 2000mg ER Metformin and I am loving it, the tummy affects arent super fun but they are managable. I havent had an AF with it yet cause I am on the NUVARING but I am hope to get off of that soon and maybe it get on my own with a combo of metformin and exercise.

I may do that. I had to fight to get on metformin and I'm not going to push my luck until I can prove I'm better with it than without...or find a doctor that is pro Metformin.

Can you talk to your dr about the extended release Metformin? That's what I take and my doc told me to take them all in the morning. I usually eat first, because they do have some stomach effects, but from what I've heard it is nothing compared to the regular.

Good luck!

I can relate! I started metformin in November and have had two AF's since starting. My first AF had a lot of spotting before but the second was only one day of spotting then full AF the following day. I wasn't as lucky as you with the weight loss but I also ate way more than I normally do and instead of packing on the normal 10-15 pounds I didn't gain anything. My only complaint with the metformin is having to eat when I take it. I have to take it three times a day then take my vitamin alone with another meal...thats four meals a day and it's hard to eat so much and still lose weight.

I am so excited. I was away for 2 weeks for the holidays; I did not pay much attention to what I ate, and definitely had wayyyyy more carbs and sugars than I have been used to lately. Plus, any exercise I got was minimal - it was too stinking cold to do much. Saturday I was talking to my fiance and told him I had probably gained at least 10 lbs - because normally that would be true, or even a low guess.

Yesterday, I also started what I think may be AF, with no other drugs than Metformin. It's starting light, but I haven't had even this much in years without help.

So I got back last night, and weighed in this morning. Not only had I not gained, I had still managed to lose 6 lbs!

I am so hopeful as to what this will mean for the weight loss with diet and exercise.
