I love Tattler lids. I splurged on a few dozen 2 years ago. My only caveat is to not give homemade goods away as gifts... after much cajoling, I've received the plastic back but not the rings... the rings but not the plastic... I recommend keeping them in your own pantry! :)

They remind me of the old rings with the bale on top that were not as forgiving. They look and sound good. I need feedback before I spend like that. $60 is for 100

I'm about to try these soon so I'll let you all know how they did. In fact I'll probably write another blog about it.

I'll have to look into that. I don't like that the lids have BPA, but the only alternative I'd heard of was glass canning jars. A friend of mine tried them but about a third of them didn't seal. I'd rather have BPA than botulism.

It seems to be hard to get away from chemicals if you want to can. Obviously it would be nice to buy fresh all year long, but that just isn't an option in most places. At least this plastic option gives us a somewhat healthier choice.

Found this story on TreeHugger today and thought I'd share it. Most canning lids contain BPA, but these don't (although they're still made of plastic). Interesting that they say they can be reused over and over, something that cannot be said of traditional lids. I guess that makes these one greener and easier on your pocketbook in the long haul, even if they do still contain (different) plastic chemicals.
