Today is a break from writing.
Tomorrow I take part in a Fight Scene Blogfest. I've never written a fight scene before so this will be a tough and new experience for me. Also, have a contest starting with 14 days, 7 prompts and 1 story. The first prompt will decide what story I'm going to write.
Managed to get over 2,000 words yesterday. Had to cut down my goal because I have the flu though. Instead of 25,000 words this week I'm going to try and get 20,000.
Today I've written over 1500 so far and am hoping to get up to over 3,000 before going to bed.
Started late saturday night on the mad dash challenge. Even though I got a head start, I only wrote 2206 words. I would have had more but I got sick after dinner real bad and haven't written much since. Now that I'm only dehydrated I hope to fix that and write more today. Need to get around 3500 words a day.
I've written a little today. Did a few paragraphs on the rewrite and it's coming along well with the POV change. Then I started a short story for an erotica contest. It's tough to go from fighting to erotic for me but I'll figure it out.
As soon as it's past midnight eastern time, I can start on the mad dash. Wanna get a jump start tonight on the 25k goal.
Congratulations on finishing the first draft. Most recommend to take a break for the project before going back for edits/rewrites. A week or two is sufficient enough time to give yourself some space from it.
I'm rewriting my genetic mutant teen book from first to third pov. It's not that easy to do. I'm still trying to decide on the tense.

Well I finally finished the first draft of my Novel about a girl who lived with another person who had MPD- multiple lersonality Disorder- Now I have to do major re-writes to make it NOT first person POV- Also may have to add more chapters with each one... Still havent decided. Re did Prologue and Epilogue three times! SO far!

We'll see how it goes since it's just a mini version of nanowrimo. I could have gone lower and might the next time since we're going to be holding these events on a regular basis.
Tonight I'm working on the teen novel rewrite. Working on chapter 1.
Just expect that your brain will be fried afterward. (I know I get that way after huge amounts of productivity.)
I am thrilled that I finally, finally, finally figured out the plotting of this novel I'm working on. Monday I'll send the first three chapters to my agent (for the third time). Really hoping they pass muster with her this time around.

Tonight I'm determined to finish chapter 4 of the mystery novel. It has 1500 words so far and soon it will be the longest chapter in the book that is written so far.
Chapter 4 has almost 1,000 words and it's no where near done. Just now getting into the actual interview with the widow. So much to do still but I should get the chapter done by this weekend.
Sunday I'm joining a friend in a challenge. We set a writing goal for one week that is a decent amount to do on one project. My goal (because I'm crazy) is to write 25k in one week on my hero novel.
Didn't do much writing today. I managed to start chapter 4 of Against All Evidence. It's my mystery novel that follows a detective on a high profile case.
Yesterday I finished the prologue rewrite. It's different than the original in every way and even half as short. Then I finished writing the short story that is actually a later segment of the angel/demon novel.
Today I'm going to finish chapter 4 of the angel/demon and maybe start on the first chapter from the angel's perspective.
Managed to write a little last night on the short story from the angel/demon novel. Only a hundred words or so, but some is better than none. I also reviewed at least 9 chapters from my ending chapter contest on WDC. Some were long, some were boring and a few managed to intrigue me enough to get a prize.
I have finally started to rewrite. Working on the prologue of the teen book. It's all going to be in third person now instead of first. Need to double the amount of words for this book and this prologue is already showing things will be very different.
Working slowly on the short story/novel section. It's going for a contest and an online "class" but also in the novel. I'm liking it so far but writing very slow. Glad to be writing again.

I wrote a scene on a very old story for the no kiss blog fest. Posted it on my writing blog. The story I actually started in 2006 but didn't get very far, so it was interesting to get back into it. The idea of the no kiss blog fest is to post a scene where the characters come close to kissing but they don't actually get to kiss. It was fun.
Using twitter like that sounds like quite the motivational tool.

In the evening, there are a few writers that post a line from the current work in progress on the hour. Then comment on each others before writing more. The post has to include "#amwritingparty" and "#wipfire". Having others writing, including two friends of mine from writing.com is very helpful.
Had a slow writing day. Got some done at least but these are tough chapters. One is very important, which makes me a little nervous.
Didn't write today. Family and making fattening treats got in the way. lol Attempted caramel, which is a struggle. Hope it is set by tomorrow morning. Then comes the putting in little wrappers.
I will have to write tomorrow. Want to work on Blood Prophesy.
Just squeaked past my 3k goal yesterday with 3009.

Finished the long version of the erotica story today. The quickie contest the short version was entered in has already been judged. 7 entries and 4 placed. Mind was not one of them.
I have found that straight males and some women don't appreciate my erotica. However, gay and bi males love it, which is interesting since I'm a female writing gay male erotica. I have a new fan and he loves the stories involving these two characters. Still might make a novella out of them.
Sorry about your insomnia elfmage -- hope it clears up soon...I know how that can mess with your creativity and productivity.
Miserable writing day for my only 348 of the 3000 words I'd hoped to write, but it was for a good reason. I ended up on a 3 hr phone call with my friend who had been in a coma in October. It was the first time we've gotten to talk since, and was wall worth it.

Continued writing this morning when I couldn't sleep. Didn't actually to to sleep until 8:45 and slept less than 3 hours. So, I'm not getting much writing down now. I have worked on my nonfiction proposal, marking it up with a purple pen. Have many places to fix word choices, rewrite and add.
Need to do a different proposal asap as I'm thinking now is the time to send it to the publishing company.
Started working on an erotica story involving the holidays. Deadline is the 20th for the overall story, but the beginning is going to be in a different contest that has a deadline of saturday.
Chapter 20 is done! My first draft is completed. It isn't a finished story but it's good to get this draft done. I can't wait to rewrite next year. This first draft is only a little over 23,000 words long. Have much to do but will be happy to do it.
I wrote a little bit last night. Not very much but getting closer to having the first draft done. Chapter 20 is now the longest chapter of the whole novel. Sadly, that is only over 1600 words so far but by the time I'm done it will be over 2,000 words at least.

Wrote some more today on the novel. Chapter 20 now have over 1200 words and it's not done yet but I'm getting closer. It's almost to the point of the first draft being done.
Also did some minor edits on a chapter from my 2008 nano novel. Submitted it to a critique group.

Sue, I think I just figured out which group LOL I know all about trying to find me time. Some days it is a struggle because like you, my life is very busy. Last night I lay in bed just before falling asleep and my head was spinning with ideas! Brand new ideas for changes to the novel I'm working on. So whether or not you actually get the chance to write, your mind is always working,scheming, plotting etc. The key is to keep them written down somewhere so that when you do get the chance to write, you have them at your fingertips. So, last night I "bounded" out of bed and grabbed my pen and paper and wrote everything down. And even if I don't get the opportunity to actually start on those ideas right away, I'm still working in my think tank, working through them to hone them. So I'm still scribbling notes. I keep a pad and pen with me at all times for this reason. So whereever I am whatever I'm doing I can scribble key notes that will trigger the ideas again when I do get to sit down in front of my keyboard!

Hi. I'm trying to write every day but have had a problem with that since pre-Thanksgiving with so much to do. I mostly am writing "lists". I did join a poetry online group last year and started a weekly writer's group at church, so that kind of keeps me on my toes to write at least a couple of poems a week, and work some on my novel at least a few times a week. But, life is busy, which is good and wonderful, but I still find it hard to set aside that time for ME and my writing. It's great to read all of the tips and other people's stories of how they do it. Well, I like the first person because of being able to spend part of the time in the thoughts of the main character. It gives the reader more of an experiential type read, like they are one with the character. But this series is becoming more epic than I ever imagined and with the other characters and such at some point it will need several POV in one book. While that can be done in first, it is very difficult and would be better off in third person in the long run.
Chapter 20 has almost 1,000 words at last. I'm so close to being done with this pesky first draft.

For me it becomes to personal;letting family and other people; complete strangers into a portion of my life? But then that's the key I suppose in them being complete stranges. We don't know each other from a hole in the ground so what should it matter? I think it's mostly psychological. LOL None the less....
I've never tried drawing myself. I've drawn or painted other people but never a self portrait. If I did it would look like I want to look like or should look like LOL
Completed my writing word accumulation challenge this morning. A very sad 540 words in 15 minutes. Mind you I chose to write from my Writer's workshop and type out the four general steps of the writing process instead of something off the top of my head. Anybody else give it a whirl?

Me! I hate writing about myself. Once, in the 10th grade, I had to do a personal essay but instead wrote about the education system. Still got an A but didn't do the assignment right. lol

Yeah how many others find it not difficult but somewhat bizzare perhaps to write in the first person. Even when I write from my own life experience I give myself a ficticious character and write in the third person. I feel uncomfortable writing about myself? Anyone else feel that way?

Did a word war with a friend today. The goal is to write as many words in 10 minutes as possible.
Did a little more writing today on the same scene. Almost done. I did do a cop out and just put a detail of what goes on instead of writing the whole thing. It's a first draft so it's okay. I'm going to add more to one more scene and call that chapter done. It already has over 2,000 words.
I actually wrote last night. Not a ton, but more than I'd written so far on the novel this month. Yay! Might get this first chapter done after all. I have chapter two done already. Had chapter one, then edited out a section for a critique group and lost the part I'd edited out. Now I'm making it longer and better.
November has been a fail for writing. I haven't written much at all for this whole month. For December, I'm going to try and have chapter goals instead of word count goals.
I've been doing pretty well at carving out the time to write the past few days. I've written some long-overdue letters (yes, snail mail), some blogs, new copy for my Web site, and an advice column. I have a lot of editing to do, but I'm determined to push ahead on my novel this next week. I'm making a great effort at fitting time to write into my daily schedule--I've been extremely busy, but recognize that I must get control of my time. As we know, in order to be able to say, "I'm a writer," we must actually be writing something!

For the most part, I've been doing homework. My statistics class, also the human growth and development, are almost done. But tomorrow starts the anatomy class. The books are intimidating.

All my prep work for nanowrimo is done.
Yesterday my writing was homework. Had two assignments to write for human growth and development. Will be writing a lot of fiction soon. November is almost here!
Today I did a commitment letter to myself for nanowrimo. It isn't fiction but still some writing. Have homework as well. Getting ready to go to Minnesota. Will have time to write while I'm there.
well i wrote before bed last night as in 10/21 at 1 am in the morning for about a half hour mostly doing a rewrite of my teen novel at the moment since my pc crashed and had to be reformatted i am journaling as well

Done some writing already today. More work on the nanowrimo prep with a third draft of the outline. Am going to finish chapter 19 of my teen book at last. I'm going to summarize what needs to go there since I'm not 100 percent sure what happens to him where he is being held.

I also gave my boyfriend notes on things he could do with the plot of his novel.
Today I worked on a very brief background story for the antagonist in the novel I will be writing for NaNoWriMo. Can't wait for November and this prep challenge I take part in is very helpful.

I know we are already a third of the way through this month but I’d like to; in keeping with the previous writing challenges time length; let's see how many of us can write for 15 minutes (or more) each and every day through out the remainder of this month! My bet is once you start tapping at the keys you won't be able to stop at the 15 minutes So let's make it the minimum! Let's see who goes beyond the 15 minutes! And in keeping with that idea what we could do is post both the length of time we wrote (15 minutes or more) and the word count. If it's going to help people further their writing each day by all means. It will be very interesting to see who does! Please take the few seconds to post your successes! Let's get started!
