I do take extended release, so that could be why the pills aren't dissolving. I used to have trouble on the regular any time I took more that 1000 a day. I have been taking 2000 of extended release for awhile with no problem. I actually did think I started having problems because I wasn't eating very well over the holidays. But it has continued now that I'm eating better, so I was wondering if it was due to my weight loss and lowered blood sugar levels recently.

Has anyone found that a fiber supplement powder has helped to ease the side effects of metformin?

If you are taking the extended release metformin, remnants of the pills in your stool is normal. It has to do with the coating that they use to make it the extended release. If you are taking normal metformin than definitely talk to your dr about that. Have you changed your diet recently that might impact your bowel movements? I've found that often times when I am having issues going back and forth it is what I am eating or drinking. I find the more sugar and carbs the worse the frequency. Hang in there.

I have not experienced any problems, but I am new on the metformin. I am currently only taking 500mg a day.

Here is my situation... More than ever before, I'm either not able to go to the bathroom or I am suddenly running to the bathroom without experiencing much of anything in between those extreems. I'm also noticing that my metformin pills are not dissolving completely. Has anyone else experienced this, and is it possible that I need a lower dose of metformin? I go to the endo early next month, so I will obviously bring it up there, but I wondered if anyone out there had any advice in the meantime.... and sorry for the gross topic!!!
