I've put myself on a per meal plan.....1 serving of carbs per meal not 2-4. Snacks, I do a carb but not a heavy carb.
I keep a glycemic index on my computer and occasionally use it for reference on what should be good and what shouldn't.
Thank you both. That's a starting place, though as you said 45 and even 30 sounds high to me. Yikes! LOL
My nutritionist put me on a guideline of 15-30 for snacks and 30-45 for meals. i am so carb scared (many years of doctors telling me no carbs) that the thought of 45 for a meal freaked me out. The point, she said, is to keep the ocean calm and not wavy. When we eat meals with high carbs and then another with no carbs, we're doing more harm to our body than if we were going extreme of too little or too much all together. Steady and calm is her suggestion.
Remember... it's not about the end result, it's all about the journey!
it varies from person to person, if you follow the diabetic deal its 40 grams per meal and max of 30 grams for all snacks
i eat as I will though my carbs, and for me it works out in the end (I average around 200 grams a day to the 150 max that is recommended for many diabetics).
Cals Burned for 6 years = 2,359,000

Should have lost: 250 to 495 pounds
Actual loss = 139 lbs and 50 inches from core
Hi guys! :)
Been away for awhile, and I'm easing back in so as not to get overwhelmed. I have a question.
I was talking to my mom today about meal planning and re-creating my eating habits. I'm at a loss when it comes to "carbs." I know I can't cut them out completely, but I'm not sure what the guidelines really are in terms of what/how much/how often. I know about "white" carbs vs. whole grains, but again - how much and how often?
