Hey I am starting The G.I. Diet (by Rick Gallop) today and so I am just not wanting to get ahead of my self with numbers and just see how my body responds to it. Like others, I have been reading about PCOS and diets and they all seem to point to the low GI foods and sugars. I am just sooo terrified of failing and losing all hope with that failure... like this is my last chance or else! So, we'll see how it goes with it.

JUST DO IT

Hi there. I am new to this team, but I have been reading all over the posts to see how many women have the same extreme symptoms that I do. Outside of alopecia, I have every symptom of PCOS... everyone. I am sorry to say that many others do too. BUT...
I have tried South Beach before and had great luck, the only thing that ended up stopping me is will power. I lost 15lbs during Phase 1. I have done several eating plans, but never had the great results I had from SB. I am starting it again on Monday... I grocery shop on Sunday!!
THose of you that have done any of the eating plans that you have been discussing in your thread, have any of you seen an significant change in your symptoms?? Just curious!! Thanks-

I'm starting SBD phase one Saturday. I've been incorporateing low GI food into my diet the last week to kind of "prep" but I'm getting hardcore starting Saturday. Glad to hear your progress! Thank you for sharing! I'll let everyone here knows how my journey of South Beach living goes. You can also check out my blog Choosinglosing.blogspot.com for updates.

Low GI Diet Update:

Since being on the Low GI diet to cure my PCOS symptoms...my symptoms pretty much have disappeared which I AM SO GRATEFUL for AND I have managed to start shedding pounds to the tune of 13 lbs. in about 3 weeks. Now, I have to confess that I do workout on a regular basis because I am training for a half and full marathon and so in tune I do quite a bit of cardio...EXERCISE HELPS!!! So, this is what's going on so far.

I started on the South Beach just to get my butt in gear and detox the body and then switch to straight low GI foods. Honestly the food is NOT that complicated 'cause i'm all about uncomplicated stuff when it comes to preparation of foods. it's TONS of veggies and the only down side that i'm finding is that breakfast consist of an omelette with different types of veggies on a DAILY basis and i'm so not an everyday egg girl so today i had KASHI cereal since that's a total low GI food and i like cereal instead...also try reading "The New gluicose Revolution: Low GI Eating Made Easy" by Dr. Jennie Brand-Miller. This is what got me started on it. She also has one for PCOS specific but i have not found it at my local bookstore just yet. I'm jumping the gun here a little but if all holds well I would have lost 4 lbs. since Monday since being on the SB diet AND that's having the time of the month this week. So, like I said earlier...everyone's body is different so you can try it and see how yours reacts.

Good job! I may have to finally give this a shot, but I heard that it can be complicated. I should google it and get a list of foods!

So, I started on the South Beach Diet which is a low GI diet yesterday and prior to full blown starting it I had already begun to incorporate more low GI foods and ween myself off of the high GI foods. Happy to report that there's been an increase in my energy levels and seeing a decrease of some of my PCOS symptoms. Also, call me crazy here and of course everyone's body IS different but I have started to see the scale move in the right direction... emoticon especially in the last 48 hours...like i said...take it all with a grain of salt. BUT I AM MISSING MY GOOD OL' MEXICAN SWEET BREAD!!!

Check out some of the diabetic diets. They are usually low glycemic. They follow sugars.

I would love to try this as well. Is is sort of like a healthy low-carb way of eating? Let us know how it works for you and all the best to you! :o)

Ok...so this week I have begun an all out effort to emoticon PCOS back into submission. I have been doing A LOT of reading this summer with regards to PCOS, diet, nutrition and exercise and how to combat the symptoms. All roads apparently kept on leading me back to a low glycemic diet. So, then I decided okay...let me school myself on this low glycemic thing 'cause I had NO CLUE what it entailed...see me trucking my tushee at this point over to the local library before i really committed myself to buying any books on it...anyways....long story short...my new "bible" on low glycemic is the book "The New Glucose Revolution: Low GI Eating Made Easy by Dr. Jenni Brand-Miller." I have started phasing out foods that have high GI and it has made WONDERS for my energy level...next week I'll be starting the South Beach Diet which is a low GI diet and see what it does for me. So far...I'm believing in this low GI thing for curing PCOS symptoms...my mood has improved as well as getting rid of my overall fatigue that i was in a slump with. So, give it a try and see if it works for you. I'll keep u guys updated letting you know how I do with the symptoms.
