An official diagnosis is kind of tricky because there is no one test. Alot of times the hormones in your blood are tested, an ultrasound of your ovaries is performed, and a medical history is taken.
Taking control of your diet and exercise has a HUGE effect on PCOS and Id do research on that. Check to make sure you're not insulin resistant which is common with PCOS.
It really is about being in tune with your own body and seeing what works best for you. Best of luck and keep sparking!!!!!

I'm not 'officially' diagnosed as having PCOS, but when I was talking about my 'weird body' with my doc (6/27) she said everything pointed to pcos and b/c I hadn't had breakfast they went ahead and drew blood to test. she gave me a printout from some journal that explained some of the very basics. i had my ultrasound thingy last week and yes, i have cysts on both ovaries...but i haven't been told anything offficially. i've googled pcos and have printed out tons of info that i'm sorting through. based on recommendations i've seen on here i bought the book a Patients Guide to PCOS and have read through it and am trying to start a low GI diet, which already seems to be question is what do i need to do to get an official diagnosis and where do i go from here?

I'm planning on calling my doc's office if I don't here from her by tomorrow b/c i just want answers and a plan. I feel like i'm at least doing something, but if there are specific things i should or shouldn't be doing i want to know and i'm getting frustrated.

sorry for the long post. i've learned so much from everyone by reading posts, thought you wise ladies might have insight, or at least reassurance for me!
