Don't have any advice on the BCP as I can't take it due to blood pressure issues but just wanted to say Hang in there. I hope that you were able to reach the doctors by now and have some answers.
Oh, where to begin... The short question is simple: what experience do you have with the new, "Lo loestrin FE", a lower-dose bcp than the loestrin fe?
the longer issue goes something like this:
I've been living with un-diagnosed (all blood work borderline normal) pco since about 15, when I grew sideburns and started growing a beard. My periods were never regular, but usually showed up 5-8 weeks apart. I miscarried my first, then (B''H) gave birth to 2 healthy girls. Between pregnancies, my gp and I found nor-q-d to be the most effective med for me, since the other 2 we tried left me either permanently exhausted, or randomly bleeding. While I know that break-throughs aren't uncommon with bcps, my husband and I follow the Jewish laws of family purity, which basically mean that for 12 days after first staining, we cannot share a bed or touch in any way, so break-throughs are a MAJOR disaster for us.
Fast-forward to my post-birth checkup, and I'm back on nor-q-d. It took almost 13 months for my period to show up, and I was getting quite worried. Well, since then (5/16) I've had 4 periods, which means my husband and I have shared a bed 6 times. As a touchy-feely person, this is ESPECIALLY hard on me emotionally. My OB seems to have brushed off the 3 periods I had prior to checkup as "cleaning house" post pregnancy, and prescribed lo loestrin for birth control and to regulate periods, but a jaunt through the internet shows side effects like weight gain, sever depression, anxiety, and rage (which I already struggle with - so good for the babies!), not to mention - you betcha! - breakthrough bleeding. So I am having real doubts as to taking this junk, and of course none of my doctors are reachable until Monday... For the record, I lost weight during pregnancy, but have been around 195-200 since. Since mid- April, I've switched to a low-gi diet, and work out 4-5 times a week, both weights and cardio. I've seen no weight loss nor size change.
