I don't know anything about Maca Root, but I have been seeing a Naturopath that recommended I take Niacin (the flushing kind is more effective) in addition to my Metformin to help with weight control. If you take it earlier in the evening with food and drink lots and lots of water, the flushing isn't so bad after your body gets used to it. Since being on both the Niacin and Metformin I have lost 5 or 6 pounds, but I've also had surgery, been on painkillers, and all sorts of other things happening to my body that could have attributed to that as well. But it might be worth looking into.
I unfortunately am not familiar with what you speak of. You might ask a pharmacist if it's ok to take with metformin, they could give you the best answer on that I believe.

Hi everyone. I searched for this in the forum & couldn't find anything so I apologize if this ends up being a repeat thread! I recently have decided to stop taking my birth control.. I have had problems with most of them and am just sick of constantly taking something that jacks up my already jacked-up hormones even more. On top of that, I recently got married & my husband and I want to try having a baby within the next year. My problem is that every single time I go off a birth control I gain weight super fast.. I have gained 20+lbs in the last couple years from going off BC to switch to another and even when I'm back on one and working out, the weight basically stabilizes but I don't lose much. Yippee. So naturally, I'm pretty terrified that now that I've stopped again I'm going to gain even more weight. When I asked my doc about it, he basically told me that the birth control controls the hormone problems I have due to PCOS and therefore my weight (obviously) but didn't give me any solution besides to stay on the pills.. which I don't want to do. SO.. I'm trying to take things into my own hands by researching natural things, more diet restrictions, working out, liver cleanses, etc. and I have found a lot of reading on Maca Root to help regulate hormones... but one thing I can't seem to find anywhere is if its okay to take with metformin? Does anybody know? Sorry I know I gave a lot of back story for that simple question, but I thought maybe someone had went through something similar in all that too and could maybe give some advice. I just want to get this all figured out sooner rather than later. Thanks in advance.
