I took them for a long time. My body tolerated it well. My insurance changed and will not pay for the extended release. :(

Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change." ~ Jim Rohn

Hmmm. Im on one pill a day metformin. Im not sure of the dose of the top of my head but I know I used to have to take 2 pills 3 times a day. All are horse pills and not easy to swallow but the one a day is oval and not so bad. They are pressed pills and not capsules. I have not had to many side effects from metformin and nor truly sure what to look for. So far so good for me though. I do see weight loss and better sugar tolarance with it so I guess its working correctly.
I actually had the opposite problem. Having to take 4 pills of the ER version to get 2000 mg per day I wasn't able to tolerate but I switched to the regular version in 1000mg pills and have been able to stay on it with less intestinal distress. I think it had to do with the pill casings that don't dissolve all the time for me personally but I do have another medical condition that could cause the problem.
I was unable to take the 2-3 times a day pills. They just were so big that I would choke. The time realsed one is a lower dose and I only have to take it once a day. I love it, but as with all pills I tend to forget it for a few days. Im just starting to take it again and love that its once a day and not have to worry about keeping the multiple doses on time.
