My lips have been very dry lately as well. I kind of chalked it up to the weather changing and my new diet.
I've also been getting cold sores a lot too.
Maybe it has something to do with hormones?
I used to have this problem as a child and teenager. The cracks were so deep that they would bleed.
Then I started massaging my lips with my toothbrush after brushing my teeth (I rinse it before with water though). Doing this daily helps me. It also reduced the number of cold sours I get.
You should still see a doctor though.
Have you had your thyroid levels checked? Sometimes an underactive thyroid can lead to dry skin. Hormone levels CAN affect your thyroid levels - pretty much EVERYTHING interacts with each other. While 80% of Cysters have Insulin Resistance, thyroid issues seem to run a not-so-distant second, and you CAN have both issues at the same time.
I would strongly recommend a good endocrinologist!

it sounds like it may be related... either to pcos directly or another part of your endocrine system being affected by the pcos. i have had other parts of my endocrine system go haywire since my diagnosis with pcos at 26, and it is all connected in one way or another. i have extremely dry skin and very dry lips. i have to always use chapstick as well. and sometimes they crack in the corners. i drink about 12 servings or more of water a day. doesn't help. do you see an endocrinologist?

You might be mouth breathing, or sleeping with your mouth open.?
I've not had this issue, but since PCOS is different for everyone its possible that is has some part of it or if not it part of another condition which is connected with PCOS.

I have a lot of the PCOS symptoms, and in the last 3 months have been experiencing a new problem: My lips are EXTREMELY dry. I'm used to them being dry in the winter, and can't wear lipstick/lipgloss and have to be careful even about what chapsticks I use, but these past 3 months, my lips are so dry they crack, peel, bleed slightly....I notice though that this only happens half of the month, and as soon as TOM shows up, it goes back to normal.
I drink my water faithfully, don't lick my lips, have not changed anything in my diet or skin care regiment. No new chapsticks. I just can't figure out what's going on, but it seems odd to me that it is related to my cycles somehow.
