only solution i know to reducing a period is a endrometrial ablasion or a hyster - I dont know of any single medication on the market natural or other wise that works (at least for me, tried them all - was 24/7 bleeding since 2004 till may 2008 finally got it all stopped with a hyster and happy its over with)

If you find something that works for you great, hop its a lasting solution (BCs only made my bleeding worse)

I have taken B as well, it also helps with moods. I strongly suggest any women to use vitamin B. As for the heavy periods, I have heard that DNC's do work. Other than that sorry I am unsure.

Sounds like your Dr. isn't very good. Have you tried finding any other alternatives on the internet? I find this to be a great source of information. As you are not alone in this...just have to find something that works for you.

Best of luck to you.

I had heavy periods so bad I would be in the hospital because my blood loss was close to dangerous.

I am sorry to say after battling it for 16 years I never found anything. I found out I couldn't have children 5 years ago so last summer I decided to have Oblation done.

BC didn't slow mine down in the least. Good luck, they are always coming out with new things so you never know.

taking a B complex vitamin is supposed to help with cramping, etc. - maybe that will help it not be so heavy?

Does anyone have any idea how to help slow a heavy period without taking birth control? Last time I went to the doc she put me on bc, but then took me off last year. I don't want on them again. I've tried making another doc appointment, but either she or I have to reschedule every time. I really want to know if there are any vitamins or herbs that help. She has suggested before that maybe I need a dnc, but I'm unsure about that, so I declined.
