What app did you use? It sounds great - but there are quite a few out there.

Hi, I'm sure I'm about to tell you all something you already know, but I came across this post while looking for info on tracking couch to 5k. I'm starting tomorrow and just discovered that there is a Couch to 5K app for Android!! I'm sure there's one for iphone too, not sure about Windows phones... Just thought I'd add this little tidbit! The app is pretty cool-the playlist feature integrates with music already on your phone, and there is a "halfway" feature that tells you when you are half way through your route, so you can turn around. Yay!

...still I rise...

I use http://www.endomondo.com/home app. It runs on many phones and devices. It uploads the results to the website so you can track your progress. Its free there is a pay version which five dollars and helps the developers.

If your running outside the map feature on the My Fitness page is great. It will give you distance and then you just keep track of time. It works out nicely for me. Good luck!

I have a heart rate monitor watch (no chest band) and it keeps track of the calories burned for me as long as I check my heart rate often through out the session. It's a mio and I think I paid no more than $30 for it. :o)

The old way of doing it is drive your route and measure distance on your speedometer and use that for your mileage

Also you can go to the fitness and use the quick tracker to record your activity and length of time. I've used the map routes myself and it is great.

I agree with reddogmom - the map feature is GREAT!

That said, I've been thinking about investing in a heart rate monitor, if only because I've had some issues with rapid heartbeat (controlled now).

Do you run outside? You can use the map your route feature on the fitness page. It will ask how long you took, then you can click on the button to add it to your fitness.

Let me know if it's not clear and I'll try to do a better job of explaining.

Does anyone have advice for how to track how many calories burned when you are doing the couch to 5K plan? I don't have any fancy equipment--just use my cell phone when I'm walking/running to time myself, and I don't know the best way to enter it here on the site for cardio because I don't know how far I've gone.....time for a pedometer?
