Thanks, we really had a wonderful week and yes this summer flew by. With all the stress, it's great that you are staying in line with your eating, it's easy to fall with all the distractions, excellent job with your determination! So far today I put in 1.8 miles, doesn't sound like a lot, but I sure did sweat. I'm going to be doing some Jillian this evening, I'm eating lighter than usual, but healthy, getting my nutrients. I hope that your schedule eases up on you, it sounds very demanding and you sound very strong! Take care, Nica

hiya

I hope you had a fantastic time... it is always great to get away... I am really hoping I can do that soon. I am at witts end... I have no time for anything this past month has been a total wreck. I am getting only 4 hrs of sleep a night and going non stop with work etc. We have hubbies girls for 3 weeks every summer and go figure the one guy that worked with me quit so I couldn't take my holidays. Nor can he has he had a week off for his father's passing. I am so stressed but one thing I can say is that my eating is still in check and I have been walking with the girls everyday .. my weight hasn't gone up or down so I will be thankful for that. But I have a plan for Sept and one important thing is catching up on rest.

I hope everyone is still at it and going strong. It is so hard to believe it is the end of the summer. Where is this year going?

Hi guys, I've missed you, spent the last week before school with my daughter over at the beachside, I don't have wifi there, it's kinda like a get away place with no distractions other than the beautiful ocean. At any rate, I took Jillian with me, I did days 27 through 29 there, I wrapped up day 30 yesterday, D O N E !!!!!! It took me a bit longer, but I finished! I hope that everyone is doing great! Let me know what you're up to. I've got to start putting in more time on my runs, the 5k is coming up in October, I want to be ready. You girls have really helped to keep me going, I hope to chat and inspire, be inspired some more, Nica

sorry about the smirky face.. my daughter poured a glass of water on keyboard I thought it was ok but apparently I couldn't type so I did a funny face. Thank you so much for the condolences. It has been very rough....

I hope everyone is well... No more excuses now for this girl .... Tired of feeling like crap I haven't even had a minute to myself to workout so this week its do or die and I don't care if it kills me but I have some time to make up for and some stress to burn and get this body back to how it was progressing... I tell you ladies... DO NOT QUIIIIIIT! I know in weeks like I have recently sometimes there is no choice but at my age I feel I am right back to square one... It's gonna kill me but I will climb the ladder again!

I hope everyone had a good week... I dont want another week like these past two that I have had... honestly I can't wait until this month is over just so I can get back to the norm...

Hi ladies, I had unexpected company and disappeared for a few days, so I have four more workouts and then I'm done with the slim down. I'm so very sorry to hear about your father-in-law Linda, lots of prayers for comforters and peace for you and your family.

I am so very sorry about your father-in-law. I have been in that same place, unfortunately. In 2002, my 64 year old dad died from a heart attack. No real warning, other than the fact that he'd been feeling like he had a cold or something. Even though his neighbors gave him CPR, the damage was too great. He didn't even make it to the hospital. I still miss him every single day.

Since he's died, I've lost other family members to long-term illnesses. Even though I still wish I'd been able to tell him how I feel about him and give him one last hug, I wouldn't change the way he died. He went quick. No lingering. No wasting away. He had a great last day (my brother had the first son in the family that would carry on my dad's last name) and was happy until the end. It was such a shock to all of us, but I honestly think that's the way he would have wanted to go, unless going in his sleep peacefully had been an option. The pain for the ones left was just so difficult & unexpected. I can't say it eloquently- but I can say- it SUCKED.

I hope your husband is able to find some peace over time. You never get over it, but you do get through it. Big hugs to you!

Please keep posting when you are up to it. I am going to move into the daily check-in thread too.

hiya ladies...

Been way off for the past week... have worked so much overtime and gotten hardly any sleep so I was hoping the weekend I could catch up with sleep and get back at it...but noooo saturday night we got terrible news my father in law had massive heart attack and didn't make it ... I am the process of helping hubby get through this tough time. My body and mind are not in the game ... I am determined once the dust settles that I have a new mission and my strength will return.

So happy for all of you and your accomplishments over the past week! Keep at it!!

Kay - welcome back to Jillian! It's so hard to start back up again!

I forgot to post on Saturday but I did Day 30! I'm so glad to be done. It was such a nice, cool morning on Saturday that I ran 2 miles with my daughter, also walked 1.5 miles to & from the playground with her & my hubby and did NMTZ.

Yesterday I ran 2.5 miles! The weather is supposed to be mild for the next few days, less humid (it almost felt like Fall this morning) so I'm going to take advantage of it and run as many days as I can.

Next up I'm thinking of trying a Tracy Anderson workout. Her mat workout is on you tube and I've always been curious about her workouts. I also want to do more of Hard Body (I haven't even tried level 2 yet!)

There is a new thread I saw on this team called Daily Check-in started by someone who is doing a combo of 30 DS and others. I'm thinking of checking in there for a while. www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes

Hello all!
I was able to do Jillian for the first time since the broken toe on Saturday. Decided to start with Ripped in 30 Level 1. WOW! I totally lost all my cardio endurance. The good thing about that is that I burn a lot more calories when working out, but the bad part is working out actually feels a lot like WORK.

Anyway- do we want to start up an August thread in the challenges & checkins?

Ali- did you take measurements before you started? If so, what were your results like for the month? I know you worked really, really hard, so you should be very proud.

WAY TO GO ALI! You only have one more workout! Soooooo proud of you! My beachside break was wonderful, my sister-in-law was there with me and she is following a great guide to eating healthy, so we supported each other, I did have a piece of chocolate pound cake and a 2 pieces of pizza the night my niece came to visit, but other than that, I stayed right on track. I finished Day 23 thru Day 25 and I think I talked my sister-in-law, niece and friend into doing a 5k coming up in October, proceeds go to help women who can not afford mammograms. ALI,
what workout are you going to do after this one?, this is such a good group, It would be nice to continue to motivate one another. Hope everyone else is doing fantastic! Nica

Last day of the month, it flew by, Day 22 JM30DS L1 & L2 done! I did my 2 mile run yesterday and I'll put another one in this morning. I'm going beachside for a few days, that means bikini time, I'm really glad that I've been working out and oh so thankful for beautiful sarongs:) I'll be eating out, but the availability of fresh seafood is all around, lots of healthy choices. I'm taking my dvd's with me, so I'll stay on track. I tried on that killer sundress that's been waiting for me this summer, it looked so much better than the last time I tried it on, not perfect, but better. I'm proud of you guys, keep sparkin' it up! Rest day! And for the first time since I started the slim down, my rest day syncs up with the rotation. So day 2 is done! (That was easy!)

Go Linda! It's amazing how you can push it so much further once you've been through it!

I did Day 25 level 2 & QTZ. I can already feel it in my glutes! I pushed it a little harder today- my lunges were deeper, squats lower & I did all of the surrenders (I usually skip the last on in the set!)

Hey there Little Sparkers, Day 19 nmtz and Day 20 bfbm DONE, Day 21=rest, so I'll be onto Day 22 tomorrow. I was soaking wet after the bfbm workout, I also did 2 miles this morning. The BBQ ribs happened on Sunday, but I only ate one, very proud of myself. We are tearing it up on these workouts, feels fantastic, I really needed the daily motivation and encouragement and you all definitely provide it, what a fantastic group.

I hear you on the heavier weights Linda, I've been meaning to pick some up (no pun intended:)) Seriously I need to increase the weights, gotta get rid of the 3rd and 4th booblas, that area looks better than when I started. Great job on doubling up Kay, you're really doing awesome. ALI, I'm so happy for you, you deserve a nice treat, you've been bustin' butt! Hope everyone has a great evening~Nica

I tried some running intervals today for the first time in July. Needless to say, I have to work on building up my stamina. But at least I can put my shoes on and give it a try! Big improvement over a week ago. I can only do about 3 minutes of running at a time, but I will build it back up. Interested in how my toe will be feeling tomorrow. Did walking and jogging intervals for about 40 min then took doggie out for only half a mile.

I forgot to post yesterday, i ended up doing day 24 - BFBM. I had a family photo session in the morning and was supposed to attend a graduation party for my bro's girl/f's daughter in the afternoon. But the party was canceled because the forecast called for rain. So when my daughter took her nap I worked out!

Afterwards I treated myself to a new pair of sneakers and workout pants! I can't wait to break them in tonight. Rest day, for "real" on Tuesday!

I will agree and say this group rocks!!

I am not doubling up my workouts yet I am doing more than one and sometimes 3 on most days :) Than some days I just walk but I am staying active and I am pleased and don't feel bed when I have a bad day.

Lets get the rest of July over and Start kicking butt into August! Keep up the great work ladies!

Happy Saturday Everyone, it's been a busy week but a good week, I finished Day17 (nmtz) and did 30DSL1 of Day 18, I ran 2 miles per day except one, today is make up day, I still need to do the qtz from day 15 and the 30DSL2 from 18, feels like I'm talking a foreign language :) I had a few slices of pizza last night, I'm gonna have to put in some extra miles. I can see a difference in my arms, they are showing more tone, the rest is coming along slowly but surely.

You guys are doing fantastic! GREAT DETERMINATION! Keep it up and enjoy your weekend!

Hey Ladies!! I am a little late today but HEEEY!! HAPPY FRIDAY!!

K - I loveeeeeeeeeeee fitness blender workouts they are very easy to follow i used the warm up and cool down every day before and after shred. I am totally in love with Jessica Smith man by the end of the week you sure can feel every part of your body that you worked. I guess it's part of her weekly classes ...

Kay, I'll have to check out the Fitness Blender after the slim down I'll be looking for some thing other than Jillian!

I skipped Day 21 (rest day) and did 22 - levels 2 & 1.
I weighed in today at 156, I'm so happy that my hard work is paying off and also I lost that water weight...I carried a lot this month during my period emoticon

Keep up the sweat, ladies. :)

Yesterday, I did another 30 minute Fitness Blender Low Impact Cardio + Toning workout. It was really a good one. I am really liking the Fitness Blender videos on YouTube. Lots of great free workouts there. Plus, they have several low impact for people that walk into stuff and mess up their toes! :) Also took the doggie for her 1 mile walk.

Gonna keep the momentum going tonight & do another one.

Linda, thanks for the support. As for the 1 hour walk, that's awesome! Walking for an hour burns a ton of calories!

hiya!!

ALI-- don't kick yourself for having a YOU day! YOu know you won't eat like that every day! We all have days like that! Gave the new shoes a good WALK today... amazing what it does to your legs... OWWW! With all the overtime I have done at work this week I am feeling wiped out .. couldn't see myself doing any HIIT so I just walked for an hr ;)

Come on weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 19 - NMTZ - done! My eating today wasn't the best...actually it was just dinner that was bad. We got Bertuccis pizza, I had 3 slices and 1 roll (their rolls are the best!) I had only had 2 slices & after I gave my daughter a tub I went for the last one. I'm kicking myself now...I really didn't need it. I tried to be good & made myself a salad so I wouldn't eat as much - I ate that too! Lol!

On well, tomorrow is a new day! I can't wait for these 30(ish) days to be done!

WOW K you are almost there!! Don't give up!! It's the final stretch. I am trying so hard to get past the 140's and stuck at 141 uuugh!! I am hoping one day it will just fall off!!

Did a kick ass pilates workout and I am feeling it!! WOOT!!! :)

Slept in today so my day is way off now I have to get ready for work... rinse and repeat!

Today has been a great day, I put in 2.5 miles this morning and did Day 16 30DSL2, I did Day 15 yesterday, but I didn't do the QTZ, I'll fit them in somewhere. Kay, great job on making a game plan and inspiring a co-worker, it's the little by little, day by day efforts that turn into big changes! Keep it up! Linda, sounds like you're a busy girl, it's great that you make time for a workout, it's not always easy to fit everything in, I have to kick myself in the butt every now and then. I was really good yesterday. Ate very healthy all day long. Worked out with coworker (who hasn't joined me in months) doing a half hour low impact Fitness Blender workout I found on YouTube, then walked a mile with the doggie when I got home. I've got to keep in mind that 90% of this is keeping on track with my food. I didn't decrease my intake enough when I became less active due to the toe. I'll be better this week and back to 133 before I know it and onto the goal of 128. I weighed in this morning and was down .6 of a pound, so at least the scales moving in a better direction now.

Thanks for the encouragement. It really helps keep me going. Going to be good today. Hope everyone has a great hump day!!
