Question, I would like to participate in any other challenge if there is any for the month of April?

I didn't work out yesterday. I spent the morning waiting for the furnace repair man and I wasn't sure I'd have time to shower to get to work. Lame maybe but oh well. Today I will exercise though. Probably Ripped 2 and something else, though I might do NMTZ instead.

I'm really feeling my physical and emotional energy flagging right now. I'm tired, even though I'm getting enough sleep. I have a lot on my mind in my personal life right now, so that's part of it, but I've also learned these feelings usually mean I need to change my workout routine. Usually exercise really motivates and energizes me, but right now it's a struggle to get going. I still do it, it's just more of a "should do" and less of a "want to." Next week I'm changing it up with some yoga and pilates classes, so that should help, but I might need to do a little less Jillian for a couple weeks, we'll see.

HannahZoe, I'm previewing a workout I think you will love: Jillian's Extreme Shed and Shred. It looks really good, there are a lot of brand new moves. I don't have the energy for it right now but at some point I will.

*** Post workout edit: I did Ripped in 30 1 & 2 today. Did some modified versions. Feel much better now. Am previewing week 3; looks a little scary!

What a pain. That cuts down on your family time a lot, doesn't it?!

Today I did Ripped in 30 2 again (day 3). I let myself modify the jump-squats today. I like this program, but feel like I need to spend more than 5-6 days at each level! I guess that's good because I'll want to do it again some time.

Yeah, unfortunately our biggest client (health insurance company) is in California and it's easiest to reach people at night...so that's the reason for the change. No more 5am workouts anymore...but I should be able to find the time to do them later in the day. On my days off, I'll just give Anders his TV time at the time I want to workout..that way he's busy and happy and I'm able to exercise. And on my work days, I'll be dropping him off at child care at 8am still...so plenty of time between then and my shift start to get in exercise and more. I'm just worried about the sleep deprivation. :(

OMG HannahZoe, when I read that on the other thread I thought it was just a one-time thing. You're going to have to do this all the time? That's awful! My dad worked that shift for the last 8 years before retirement. He was OK with it because he liked getting up late, and I was already out of the house by then, but I think it was tough on my mom. That must be hard for you with young ones at home.

Thanks, Cathy! Trying to keep it up through this ridiculous news about my schedule change. It's quite depressing to hear that I'll be most likely working until midnight...unless one of colleagues quits because of the recent news, then I may get the 10pm end-time shift.

That being said, I still got up and completed day 10 today - RI30 level 2! The new moves don't seem as awkward anymore!

You're doing great, HannahZoe!

Monday I did Ripped in 30 2 day 2. Tuesday was my day off, and a long difficult day. This morning I wanted to exercise but didn't have the physical or emotional energy for Jillian so I did 3 "miles" with Leslie Sansone. It was perfect. I'm also wearing my pedometer again and on days I work out usually exceed 10,000 steps so that's good.

Next week I am going to two yoga classes and one Pilates class, so I may not do as much Jillian. We'll see!

Sorry for not checking in. I completed day 9 today and 8 yesterday - still just sticking with RI30. I did look at a preview of yoga meltdown and it does look good. Definitely more "active" than yoga and probably not as relaxing as traditional yoga, but something I might enjoy.

I have Yoga Meltdown but I've never even watched it. I can't quite imagine Jillian "really" doing yoga . . . but I'm sure it's a good workout!

I did 20 minutes of Pilates and RI30 2 today. I too found a few exercises awkward and used lighter weights since it was my 1st time through. I kind of like that awkward new exercise feeling as long as I don't hurt myself lol - it's good to surprise the body.

Cathy, that's something I really want to get back into again too (yoga/pilates). How is Jillian's Yoga Meltdown video for yoga? Maybe I'll check out a preview online.

So, I took yesterday (day 6) off and actually decided to progress to level 2 of RI30 today. It was interesting. Some of the moves I've never done before and they were a little challenging...more in the awkward sense (trying to get the appropriate form down) versus the "too hard" sense. Hoping that will come in time! Since it was a bit of a challenge, and my weight is looking pretty good right now, I may just stick with RI30 level 2 this week instead of mixing in other workouts. We'll see how I'm feeling after tomorrow!

My legs have been feeling "too tight" for a few days now, and last night I managed to mildly pull one of my inner thigh muscles. Today I did 20 minutes each of Pilates and yoga. It feels better and I don't expect it to be an issue, but it does remind me there's a reason why my body has been craving Pilates and yoga lately. I've put it off because "they don't burn many calories" but it's time to get back in the routine. For the rest of January, I am going to do 20 minutes of Pilates or yoga plus one Ripped in 30 workout most days of the week - and skip the Ripped+Shred plan until things "loosen up" a bit!

Today was RI30 1 for me. Tomorrow I plan to do Ripped plus Shred OR BFBM (my nemesis; I acutally LOVE NMTZ). Sunday I'll start Ripped level 2!

I think Ripped in 30 makes a great "base program" that we can add to as we want. Today was my day off exercise as it is my first day back at work! It's a doozie too, 10+ hours. Oh well, it's nearly half over.

Day 3 - done!

I think I may end up doing ripped on M, W, F, Sun and then NMTZ Tues and BFBM Thurs instead. I thought about doing shred with ripped but I'm thinking that may put me in more of a time crunch than just doing one of the other two.

HannahZoe suggested doing 30 Day Shred in addition to Ripped in 30, and I think that's a great idea! I did 30 Day Shred 1 and Ripped in 30 1 today and it felt great!

I think my plan will be to do Ripped in 30 five or six days a week and add a 30 Day Shred workout to 3-4 of them. I'm not going to continue with the January Jumpstart; it just doesn't feel challenging enough and I'd rather put in the time with Jillian!

Day 2, RI30, done!

Cathy, I think your proposal for a rotation is a good one. I was almost thinking about compiling a continuation of 30D SD in which I'd incorporate 30DS level 3...Hmmm...let me think about this. I'm no personal trainer, but I'll see what I can come up with and you can tell me what you think! Stay tuned. ;)

I agree, week 1 is feeling easy - which goes to show us how much we accomplished with the 30 day slim down program! I use 5 lb weights for all but one exercise (my shoulders are still weaker) and I'm pushing myself to do Bashira's version whenever possible. I'm sure week 2 will pick up. If it doesn't I'd be open to rotating in NMTZ and BFBM once a week or adding a 30DS workout to a few days a week. Maybe 3-4 days Ripped in 30, 1 NMTZ, 1 BFBM?

Day 1, RI30 - Done! I started today! So, I'm a day behind you, Cathy!! I think I may need to get heavier weights...the 3 lb-ers just don't seem that challenging after doing the slim-down program! :) I do like the workout though!

I started Ripped in 30 today (along with the new Spark People bootcamp, January Jumpstart). I know at least one other team member (HannahZoe) is doing RI30 for January, so I thought I'd create a topic for us to check in with each other. Join us!
