Headspace is for meditation, so it's not going to have the fitness support you would get from SparkPeople. But it's a similar concept to physical exercise: workout your brain/mindfulness regularly to get health benefits. It just also happens to be designed very, very well.

I agree, their desk top site is very outdated. Their app has gotten much, much better. I still use it for tracking my food. I haven't really used the social aspect of the app, b/c you can't get to the spark teams from there.
I'll check out Headspace.

I have this creeping suspicion all of SparkPeople is largely dead. It just has super super outdated design, which I imagine makes it difficult to get/sustain new users. I really like the design of Headspace, if they could do something like that it might help a bit with the community building.

Thanks for the tip about the Facebook group!

Hi Gingko! How are you?

You're right, they're dead here. I found a Facebook group that's very active with people doing her workouts daily. It's called Jillian Michaels Workout Junkies.

It's too bad, in 2012 I finally committed, got healthy and found this group to be a huge source of support and motivation.

Hi everyone! I've been MIA for a bit, I had a baby and then it took me a while to get back into a routine. I started getting to the gym a few times a week but now my oldest is in kindergarten and the baby is in daycare 3 days a week (w/ in laws the other 2) it's nearly impossible to get there during the week!

So I'm working out at home and decided to start Ripped in 30 again. I had the DVD but it's lost. The workouts are now on YouTube! I started Saturday, took Monday for a rest and today will be day 4. I know this is the shred check in, but I'll check in here b/c the other threads seem to be dead!

I hope everyone is good!!!

It's the roughest when you're just starting to get back into it. After 2-3 days, the muscle soreness tends to go away...until you start on the next level.

Completed Day 5 of level 1 this morning. I did 30 day shred two years ago to kick start a very successful weight loss so I hope I can be as successful this time around!

I'm on level 2 day 16 today. I've been building in one rest day a week where I go for a 2-3 hour walk with my family instead of doing the shred workout.

Seems to be working weight wise. No big change in my measurements yet though.

Good luck, Lightning Runner!

THEREALCALEX - Your muscles get used to it after a bit, and won't be so sore after each workout. However, muscle confusion can be a good thing which is why lots of people mix-and-match Jillian Michaels' DVDs. Maybe that will work better for you?

did day 3 today. Feeling like I need to build in days to recover and just switch from hammering same muscles everyday without recovery - does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Round One, I did last summer, so a year later, I'm starting over.
Level 1, Day 1 after 2 miles on elliptical.

I figure I'll be on here all alone, but I'll get points posting. The Team Leader used to be very active.

May 28 - Level 1, Day 4. My muscles are screaming in pain and the headache is persisting. I barely managed to finish the workout, but, pushed through. I feel like an old lady and can barely walk. Lol. I think I'll take a nap today.

I realized something today that kind of surprised me. Although I haven't lost any weight yet (I've gained weight actually - knowing that muscle weighs more than fat) since starting the shred, I can actually feel a difference in my body. My clothes aren't fitting any different yet and I've only lost about half an inch to an inch on my waist but I can feel a difference in the way I carry myself. My core feels stronger and almost tighter. It was a great feeling and a great motivator to keep on doing the workouts.

On the bright side, once you do manage Level 2 well, you can pretty much handle plank exercises! Except maybe Level 2 of Ripped in 30...I think she went a bit overboard on that one.

HNBKAS, the first time I did 30ds level 2 (starting at totally out of shape), I think it took me 4 weeks to get through just that level 2, to a point where I felt I could actually complete each portion of the workout. So just keep plugging away...you'll get there eventually!

Hi Everybody, just checking in here. Good Luck Meri,
I am doing pretty good. I am still at it on Day 5 here and even with sick kids and a sore back and I think I pulled a muscle in my butt I am still going strong. I am taking it easy still on the jumping but am marching fast and doing what I can to keep that heart rate up and well seems to be doing ok. Still sweating away and keeping at it so that is all I can ask for right. So on to the next 5 days.
My plan is to just keep going on video 1 until I can do it well and it seems to be getting easy then I am going to move on. Since I am modifying a little. So I may be shredding for 45 or 60 days, which is fine by me.
Well hope you are all having a fantastic week and a fabulous weekend! Shred IT UP!

'Not sure how much is "enough" cardio, it really depends on your goals. But there's no sense in injuring yourself. From some of her other videos, Jillian has a couple other no-impact cardio moves: (1) squat & punch [get low and punch with your alternating arms], (2) static lunge w. running arms [try to hold your back knee 1 inch off the ground while moving your arms as if you're running], (3) squat jumps without jumping [touch your toes, unbend with your arms in the air]. You can also do things like kick-toe-taps, or squats with alternating roundhouse kicks.

So Life got in the way over the weekend but I got back at it today. So I am just starting over.
Day 1 down. Yay me.
Still really hard. Legs burn. So It must be working. I hope because I have a big goal to hit this week.
Anyone here done this before and had trouble with the jumping jacks? I have really bad knees and they are hurting me. I am trying to march fast in place for now but want to make sure I am doing enough, Is this ok? anyone know. I just can't afford to get hurt right now. I need to keep going and I would rather go slow and steady with what I can do then push hard and get hurt.
Here's to being lean in 2015!

Hi all day 1 done. Yay. It was hard I struggled. But I know I can do it now. So here we go.

1 Day, 1 Hour, 1 Moment, 1 step at a time. I can do this!

Just finished Day 3 ( No more trouble zones) now heading out to walk to school to pick up my son (he'll just have to walk home with me!)

Was sick all last week/into the weekend. Got back to it on Monday - did Level 2 Day 7; tonight was L2/D8. I am now doing the squat thrusts for most of the cardio, and all the plank jacks; upped weights for the iron crosses to 5#, just taking it slow.

In good news, my triceps are noticeable when I extend my arms-you can see them through my shirtsleeves!

Level 2, Day 6. My partner has joined me on L2 and is in agreement that it is tough - and he was suffering a little bit the day after LOL (evil evil LOL!)

*finally* worked out, got in Level 2 Day 5. I'm up to 5# on everything but the iron crosses.

Got in level 2 day 4 (cannot believe I'm already 4 days into these workouts!) tonight because I won't be able to work out tomorrow.

I upped to 5# for the second set of weight exercises - doing better on the iron crosses, and I finally figured out how to do the oblique twists without falling over. Pendulum lunges are a little better but still torturous.

Exhausted since Wednesday, busy weekend but I managed to bust out Level 2 Day 3 tonight (fighting that oh-so-familiar "30 day shred makes me want to puke" feeling). Still super tough but not as difficult as L2/D1 at least.

Going for a run tomorrow, then shredding again wednesday.

Exhausting, long, and disheartening day at work - came home to L2D2 and while I did not bring it as hard as I have in the past, I really needed and enjoyed the workout (as much as I can enjoy this torture!)

And I shredded tonite. Moved up to Level 2 (so this was L2/D1) and it is no joke.

And I am completely uncoordinated.

I haven't heard of Beginner Shred - when was it released?

I got in L1/D9 tonite - I usually run on Saturdays but my running partner had to work this morning so we are running tomorrow - which means I'll be shredding again on Monday.
