I actually did most of my training runs on the treadmill. The first time I did the program, I would do 2 of the runs on the treadmill and 1 outside. The next time I did the program, I had a baby to worry about, so I would just do the runs on the treadmill. I'm now training for a 10K the same way.
I just finished week one am into week two of the 5k your way Walk/Jog Program. I'm looking forward to stepping up to the 3 min walk/1.5 min jog.
I can walk/hike for miles, but never really ran before. The few times I've tried, my shins were destroyed, lol. But following this program so far has really helped and I hope to be able to jog/run an entire 3 miles soon enough.

I just joined this team. I have been on SP sense the last week of April/2012. I decided to try this because my 3 mile walk left me wanting more. I am in week 1 of the program. It wsn't as bad as I thought. I have never run before and thought this was a good way to start.

I ran again today. Well, jogged and walked. But it really feels good to be back out there. My shins bothered me a little bit but it wasn't bad. I did a little over 3 miles. And that was actually an accident because I was thinking that four laps around the park I was running at was a mile. But then I noticed the park sign today that said one lap is half a mile. So Tues, I did double what I thought. That's a good thing though!
I had to redo weeks multiple times. I restarted the program a few times. Right now I'm doing a 5K to 10K program, but did a 5K today and wasn't able to run the whole thing (mostly because of the heat), so who knows, maybe I'll restart it again and try to get my speed up.
I know this thread is old but I thought I would still post here in case any new people come along like myself or anyone is still reading here. I started the couch to 5K program last week but it didn't go well due to my shin splints so I am redoing the first week this week.
Well, today was my first day or rather tonight. And it was amazing!! I didn't want to stop and I know the program says not to do more than what your supposed to but I did anyway because I felt so good. I did the whole run 1 min and walk for 1:30 for 48 min. I really enjoyed it, and my shin splints didn't bother me much. I just really enjoyed being able to finally get out there and run again even if it was at a snail's pace. I don't care. I'm just glad I could do it! Can't wait for my next run but not gonna do that until Thurs as I'll be celebrating the 4th tomorrow of course! Anyway, happy running to everyone else!!

Not brave enough to run in public, so i did day 1 up and down my stairs. I have a 2 story house. Day 2 is set for tomorrow.
We all have our own personal barriers, be they mental or physical. We are all nervious about trying new things and giving ourselves bigger mountains to climb. We worry about the "what ifs". But you can do anything you want to - the only limits are those that exist in your mind. ~Chrissie Wellington
Starting w1d1 again today. Hope I can make it. Changing my running time to evening and nights because its easier with my husbands work schedule. He can stay home with baby and I don't have to get up so early to get my workout in before baby wakes up.
It was good considering I have not jogged in years lol.. I did day two today and my ribs were hurting but i kept going. I really want to do this and sign up for a 5k run.. Wow MOMIN09 you are at week 7, that is awesome!!!! I gonna try to stay positive and keep at it.. I really want to make this change in my life and be more active..
