Your mother was very smart to hand the trophies over to you! What happens here is that my two sons want to "store" all these things here while they are moving around so much. So.....some of the things I've kind of made an executive decision on.
Wow! awesome job on gaining a new room!
We're slowly getting pictures hung and lamps fit in. I had my color scheme all worked out -- and now it's changed a bit. Oh well -- that's what makes things fun.
My mother boxed up my trophies and the such and gave them to me! At the time I thought it was strange that she did not want those things. Now, I know she was clever. What a great way to get rid of clutter! I kept what was really meaningful and tossed the rest.
Some more out of the attic today....some hard suitcases. As far as I know -- people don't use those any more. Haven't flown anywhere in years, but I hear the soft sided light weight are what is used now. So out with about 5 of the samsonite variety to join those at my MIL's collection. Also sent some board games and an overhead projector. I've got a question? What in the world do you do with those plastic trophies that kids get for participating in almost anything? I packed a box of them up to donate to a local charity.
I know what you mean -- that's what i'm loving about this opportunity of the estate sale. The lady has a mailing list of people who will come to see the old furniture and dishes, but they'll also see our contributions. What doesn't sell and we for sure don't want will go to be donated.
This morning hubby and I moved quite a bit out of the attic. A bunk bed set up our boys used, a baby bed, and a carpet cleaning machine someone gave my brother and he gave us and we've never used. All headed over to MIL's house now. I'm coughing and sneezing from all the dust, but might head up there to do a little sweeping anyway.
Jackie....I for sure could have found some shoes for that nice young man...
Today I got hubby to take some old books from the shelves in his office upstairs to the estate sale at his mom's. They were old children's books given to us by a family friend. Lassie, Lad the Dog, The Lone Ranger -- all from the 50's. The lady who will get the final sale together is also a book dealer so she'll screen them for value I'm sure. Since today was also the day I take my (non-driving) mom into town for weekly errands I also dropped off a big bag of clothes at a local charity thrift store we visit every week.
I was able to make more of a dent of my closet organization, thanks to my secretary's son's school project. His school is collecting gently used shoes. I round up 2 bags for him. He is such a nice young boy.
My 7 day challenge is to take something from our house each day to sell at the estate sale at MIL's house. I got some things moved out today and there are still more items in the attic that need to go. What I sent over today was some kitchen utensils, a large mirror to a chest of drawers already taken over, a few framed pictures we're done with and some random chairs we've been storing forever.
