Hi Guys. I'm sorry I missed the final weigh-in. I took an unplanned trip out of town to go see my family. I drove back yesterday, 5 hours. When I got home, I crashed and was sleep for some hours. Then when I got up I had to force myself to repot some plants that I had been neglecting. I hope everyone does well after the challenge.

Well, it is 8:30 on the west coast and we still have 5 Sparklers that have not posted weigh ins yet. I would hate to think we would lose 5 the last week. We only have 14 that has checked in. How sad. I hope they post before midnight.

Hi everyone! Congrats to all the Sparkler's emoticon Hard to believe 6 weeks is come and gone. I am sorry I haven't been around much lately. I think I am nearly done with my cold.. didn't get antibiotics.. but if it resurfaces in the next week I'll go!!

Well I hope we all did well this week. emoticon

I feel terrible that i missed most of the challenges this week I didn't keep up with tracking or exercising and miraculously I lost 2 lbs - but I wasn't sitting around either so I guess I was active enough to keep my momentum-- I was at a party yesterday where my nephew proposed to his girlfriend - she said yes! Saturday I worked around the house and cleaned out the pool then I visited with family from out of town the rest of the day the weekends go so fast!

Well I guess i'm gonna join the next challenge

I really appreciate all of you sharing your stories- Nice to know we are all working at changing our lives for the better and we are not alone in feeling that its just not that easy at times

Gail you have been a wonderful team leader emoticon and I am glad to have had the chance to get to know you-

and all of our teammates!! emoticon

.... and it's the evening of the last weight in for our BLC.... I thank you all for your support and encouragement thru this challenge. It has helped me TREMENDOUSLY!!! =)

Today was NUTS. =) haha. Got my final taken... I got like 93.24 points out of 100, and when added to my total, I should come out at about 102% for the class. YAY! =) I got like 105% in biz math. Happy, Happy, Happy!!! =) Actually... more like relieved... so glad it's over. Now to start getting things lined up for next semester... it starts Aug 22. At least I'll have a 4 week break! =)

Got to curves. Did an easy two rounds. Not sure what it was, maybe going so late and maybe cause I'd not eaten enough, but I just felt like I didn't have alot of energy. I did have my heart rate at about 150. (That's what I shoot for on the harder days) so that's not too bad. I was drenched in sweat by the time I was done. (and that's not unusual!!!) haha.

On the way home I made a point to stop and get some fresh tomatoes and sweet corn at a side road stand. Tomatoes are for wraps, sandwiches and stuff during the week. For dinner.. we had grilled sirloin and eggplant, sweet corn, and fresh green beans from Mark's sister's garden. It was absolutely DIVINE. =)

I was sitting out behind the house in the shade in a breeze after dinner was cleaned up, talking on the phone, and I looked up and there was a DEER in the neighbor's backyard across the fence. =) He just kept eating grass and berries. haha. How cool is THAT? Then a little bunny hopped out of my garage and around the corner. I took pics of both and will attempt to put them on my blog.

We did get a call today and have another appointment tomorrow for Mark at the VA..... but hey.. it is what it is. So I need to get to Curves early tomorrow. =)

I'll miss this team. Let's keep sparking!!!! =)

Tammy - Grats on hitting 49 down! I'll bet you hit 50 soon. Way to go for staying on track over vacation. That's an idea. It never occurred to just walk out the rest when I'm done. I usually just sit down. I'll have to do that instead. If I can. Sometimes I really am just too pooped to move anymore.

Hi all...was MIA this weekend cause my Hubby took me to Longbeach for the weekend! We had a wonderful time window shopping and spending time together! We also stayed on track so we were very proud of it. I also got lots of walking in, so that was good too! I'll post some pics later...

Today is the day I said would start my exercising, Tae Bo! My daughter is gonna do it with me so waiting for her to wake up...

Happy Birthday to all of you who have birthdays this week...i'll be popping over to your pages later to wish you one too!!

Thank you all for your condolences on our families dog CJ...he went peacefully. We will miss him greatly.

Was down 2 more lbs today! Very happy cause that leaves me one pound till 50 lbs down! Woot, Woot!! Can't wait!

Final is done!!! Summer school is DONE!!! YAY!!! WOOT WOOT!!! =) Hap-pay, Hap-pay, Hap-pay!!! haha! I figured the numbers and after she gets all the grades input, I should have over 100% in BOTH accounting and business math. =) It was tough, I'm glad it's over, but I'm glad I worked as hard as I did. =) YAY!

Ok... now to find something to eat, then a short rest, then I need to get my butt to curves! =)

Quick check in before I head to bed. =) Tomorrow is the final weigh in. I hope I maintain or lose at least a little. I'm one of those who hops on the scale every morning to see the fluxuations. I will be honest, this week hasn't been so great in that aspect... not up, but not down. And I've not been to Curves in THREE days. (they weren't open today, or I would have been there.) I've been thinking about tomorrow, and I'll get up, weigh in, and sit down to study. I'll review my 2 chapters and then head up to the college to take my final. When that is done I'll come home and get ready and head over there. Just need to get this final out of the way. It is STRESSING ME OUT. =)

Anyway... today I studied for awhile, got my final assignments done and turned in, then somehow ended up moving my bedroom all around. Moved 2 beds, a desk with a hutch on it, cleaned out a bookshelf in there and hauled stuff in and out of the room for a couple hours. What a job. My back is reminding me I'm not young anymore. My knee is protesting, but not too bad. MOST OF ALL... I have my bed now set up so I have a bedside stand that I can put my glasses on at night. (Anyone else who is vision challenged understands the need for this when you get up a half dozen times a night to use the bathroom.) =) ANYWAY... got that done and I've just been non-productive ever since.

I'll be honest.. I feel like maybe I'm getting complacent with my food, so I need to get back on it. Or maybe it's just cause I'm not seeing the results I'd LIKE to see. And all the appointments in the past couple weeks has just got me not knowing if we are coming or going. =) Anyway.. between school being done and no appointments in the near future, (that we know of yet), it might end up being a really good and relaxing week. And the temps are supposed to be fantastic. =) YAY!

Well, off to bed, and I'll be back in the morning with the numbers.

It's been fantastic to be on this team. =) Figured out I'll have to miss the next challenge as I'm going to be out of town the week of Aug 6th, but.. might go ahead and start it and see if there is anywhere I can go down there to check in.... we'll just have to see. =) Anyway.. nuff from me

Hi everybody, I wish everyone luck in the last weigh in of this challenge tomorrow. My two sisters are both here at the same time and the next three days will be filled with traveling and eating out. Hopefully some exercise will fall somewhere in between.

Melissa, I am so sorry about your knee pain. Have you tried using Ben Gay on it? You are not cheating by going slower. Maybe the knee is in need of some rest. You can work on your upper body to still get in exercise or is there a pool you can go to? That would be easy on your knee.

Jill, that sounds like a good PLAN. That might be just what you need to get you back on top. From struggling to sailing---a recommitment. I like the sound of that. emoticon emoticon Make your list of goals and then have fun checking them of as you reach them.

Lori, that is great. Staying positive really helps.

The weather is finally not oppressive. It's still on the hot side but so much better. yay!

My left knee has really been bothering me. It started when I started working on increasing my speed walking. I don't know if that's a coincidence and I just twisted it or something or if it's because of my speed work. Either way I've had to take it easier on exercise. I wish it didn't feel like I was cheating by walking slowly. Logically, I know that all movement is good but part of me feels like I should be working harder.

Jae - Grats for staying on track during a difficult time/week.

Char - It's good that you had a plan already but I'm sure it would still be scary since it was your first warning and all. When we had a earthquake here (tiny and very short lived) I still panicked because I had no idea what I was supposed to do or not do or go or anything.

Dawn - Have you managed to dig yourself out from under all the schoolwork yet? I love finding a new healthier way to make something I love. I don't want to just never have it again so it's either make it healthier but keeping it just as delicious or having it a whole lot less often.

Lindsay - You might not have accomplished everything you wanted but you did do two big ones so that's awesome. Every day is a day to bring us closer to what we want.

Nicki - Good luck with your film!

Jill - I think it's wonderful that you've been working on a new plan and are getting yourself ready to kick off with it.

Happy birthday to those having one yet this month! emoticon

A week from today will mark the anniversary of my mom's death. She will be gone now 12 years, and although the whole month of July has historically brought me down in the past, I have decided to renew my commitment to my health officially on that date. I'm continuing with my previous habits of SP until that time, of course, but as of the 27th, I'm resetting my goals and making some further changes. I'll have my blog entry up later today explaining what I've done so far in preparation.

I'm a planner...an idea person. I have lists everywhere. In the past, the lists went untouched and usually thrown out because I couldn't accomplish it all. One very important lesson I've learned since being here at SP is that every check mark counts. Progress, not perfection.

To quote one of my favorite films, "I figure life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it. You don't know what hand you're gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes at you... to make each day count."

Saturday mini challenge emoticon


Read the article --- this is something that I have been working on....for quite some time. Easy to fall into bad "thinking". Yesterday morning, my daughter was to go to step class with me and found excuses not to go. I almost didn't go....then I "heard" You are worth it, go for you! and I did. I went to class, made it through the best that I could. This was a good "self talk" ---- Here is to the positive!!!

Sounds like we have lots of Sparkling birthdays very soon! Happy Birthday everyone!! Mine is actually tomorrow. It's been such a busy month it certainly snuck up on me. I've been busy all weekend with the Louisville 48 hour Film Project. I'm on the team Weekend Chocolate Warriors and by participating we are given a genre, a line of dialogue, a character, and a prop, and we are given 48 hours to write, film, and edit a short film. It's a lot of fun but we usually don't get much sleep over the weekend and eating habits tend to suffer greatly.
I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend! We are heading back out to edit. Film is due this evening.

Well, this is my last weekend in my 20's. At least I made it to the 30's. Haven't accomplished all my life goals, but I am sure the 30's decade is another decade to accomplish my goals. I did accomplish two goals: became a teacher and bought a house. I am still working on finding a relationship and getting married. But my life does not need to revolve around that.And that is okay, I still have a lot of things going for me in my life. I have learned how to be an independent woman.

I did read the article. I am learning how to be my own best friend. emoticon

I feel like post-wise I've totally fizzled on this challenge... for that, I apologize. I'm SO buried in homework on this last chapter... if I get thru it, it will be nothing short of a miracle. Stocks and dividends and corporations and blah blah blah... I do NOT like this part of accounting. =) Anyway... I'd best get back to it. just wanted to check in while I updated my daily tracking thing. Didn't make it to curves today, either. Got up and we went out to Mark's sister's place. She and her hubby live on a farm and it's just... amazing out there. =) Had a nice visit, but he tired quickly and so did Gary, her hubby. (He had hernia surgery 10 days ago.) So between the guys we decided it was time for us to go home and Gary to go get some rest. =) Mark went straight in and slept, so I got my list together and went to Walmart and did some walking, then got groceries and stuff. Got home, got it put up, and back on the homework. I did pause to make a good dinner. I LOVE summer squash/zucchini casserole, but haven't made it this year as it is SO high in calories and fat and all sorts of bad things, so tonight I decided to try it a different way. I cooked my squash and onions, did a quick saute on them so they were a bit brown, but not too soft, then mixed my cream of chicken, (got the good heart campbells), and my light sour cream and a couple of shredded carrots. I left out the cheese, although I could have used reduced fat. Used my seasoned stuffing mix, but only 3/4 what it called for, and as for the butter, only used 1/2 what it called for. I drizzled that over the croutons in my 9x13 pan, then mixed my squash into the carrots/soup/sour cream, then spooned it over the top. The squash had enough cooking left to do that the liquid helped to get the croutons more ... stuffingy. (I like that word I think.) hehe. Anyway.. turned out pretty good. I then sauteed up a few chicken breasts, used the 3oz one for tonight, chopped it up after cooking and put it in with the casserole when it was done. I had a nice sized portion, (enough to fill me almost too much,) but well within the plan. =) SO I feel GOOD about it. I was worried that if I didn't go to curves 3 days in a row, (fri, today and tomorrow) I would gain 20 lbs over the weekend. today I paused long enough to say wait... I'm doing everything I should be doing, and it will be F*I*N*E. =) Tomorrow if the weather holds, I may try to go for a walk on the bike trail, but that will depend on my feet that are swelling up again.. not sure why. But it is what it is. =) They do go down at night when I'm sleeping. (and I think I'm up 3 or 4 times a night for the toity.) Anyway...

It's been such a pleasure to be a part of this challenge and I can't believe it's almost over. =) I'm so grateful to Gail and Dusty for all their hard work to be our captains and put in the time and effort to keep us motivated. =) Can't WAIT til the next one!

I read the article and it fits me to a tee. I try to rationalize it when I want to eat something that I shouldn't have like a trigger food. I rationalize it so much that I will go ahead and eat it then the next morning when I wake up it's (What's the matter with me haven't I learned anything ?) I am getting better with this though.

I'm definitely glad that missed us. Mostly because I was on my own and it was my first Tornado warning. lol I had a plan ready in case I needed to grab the pets and head into the basement though so I wasn't as worried once I had that in order.

Gail - it definitely kept me busy though I was also busy updating the friend as they were travelling right through the storm. Luckily they missed a great deal of it. The tears never last long (stopped 3 mins after they left) as I always keep in touch with friends over social media anyway so it's never really goodbye.

We hadn't actually planned on forming any friendships here as we aren't planning on being here long, but I'm glad that changed. I'm focusing more on my book reviewing again, and also planning the retirement and house-hunting in a different province. Heading for nearer the atlantic coast.

Today I've been feeling nauseous all day so mostly reading. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! I am looking forward to the weigh-in on Monday to see if I have continued to lose weight. I'm really eager to drop into the 200s.

Well, I am here.........finally!!!! this has been the week from you know where!!!! My DSL has been out & I have been dealing with some legal & personal issues regarding Mom's death!!!! But I am staying on plan & still on track!!!! WOOHOO!!!!

Another awful, hot day but at least it's supposed to break and be more reasonable after today. I hope so because it's just been terrible to be outside this past week for ANY length of time.

Well I did have a gain. I regained exactly what I lost last week. *sigh* oh well. On to this new week!

Pat - I hate shoe shopping. It's hard to find extra wides or extra extra wides and a lot just don't feel comfortable but I'm never positive if it's just me or the shoes since my feet often hurt anyway. I hope you found some that work for you.

Tammy - I'm going to miss chatting too. I tend not to do much when there's no challenge but I'll head over to lets talk until the next one. Maybe it'll help me keep my head on straight. I am so sorry about your sisters dog.

Dawn - Congrats on getting all your accounting work done! The reason they retype every single time they need blood is because there's a surprisingly high number of patients registered under the wrong medical record numbers and sometimes the numbers change and sometimes insurance fraud but for a variety reasons they retype it so they do it every time to have a current one so they don't get the wrong blood (my mom works in a blood bank so I asked)

Celtic - I hope that you can find you can find your new rhythm soon and I hope you're feeling better today.

Jill - It's good to look at go back and see what worked before. I'm overdue to do that myself. I'm sorry to hear that you're under a lot of stress right now. It always makes it harder to deal with the health stuff too. I'm fond of an apple with a bit of melted peanut butter for a snack.

Char - I'm glad that the worst of the storm missed you. 19 minutes is a bit close for comfort.

Hey Sparklers!

I've been retooling my routine and am looking for some ideas for a light dessert/snack (store-bought or homemade) that I can add to my regimen for after work (9 p.m.) That'll be my last time in the kitchen for the night...no more grazing in the fridge!!

What are some of your go-to favorites? I love chocolate, things like pudding, etc. but also would need ideas for savory/crunchy as well.

I'll be sharing my reworked routine on my blog as soon as I'm done with it. Thanks for your help, Sparklers!!! emoticon

Char, glad you stayed safe. Did it help to take your mind off your friend leaving? Wipe those tears and when it cools down go out and find another military that has just moved to your area and become her friend. She is lonely too. I sure remember my days of being a military bride during the Vietnam War. It was a love/hate relationship. I hated the months he was gone but those coming homes were so great it made it all worth it.

Hi everyone, well the heat let up for today yay..such a long hot week. So going out to get some nice fresh and a bit cooler air today and hope I can make good food choices as well. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Tammy so sorry for your and your sister's loss..so sad and such a hard to do. I grew up with many dogs and they all passed away naturally. My dog is going on 16 yr with a few health problems and I'm not looking forward to having to do that, not sure
I could :( so praying God will take him when it is time...

Wow. Yesterday was definitely a wild ride. Farewells in the morning as I handed the neighbours cinnamon rolls and a few gifts. one of the girls had said to her parents that she wanted to stay and live with me which I found funny. There were tears (the 12 yr old cried and then her mum, and then me..lol) but we've already been texting lots still.

Shortly after that, we got hit by storms, and tornado watches, then tornado warnings. I couldn't stay on the pc lots and instead was trying to reach loved ones who were facing similar weather issues. The clouds are looking funky again today and the trees are blowing like crazy but I'm hoping that it's just a little windy and not more storms on the way.

I was facing my first ever tornado warning but thankfully we have a cold room off the basement that would have held us safely. We weren't hit hard but I must admit to gulping somewhat when they released the news and a wicked picture, that a tornado touched down just 19 minutes southwest of us. That was definitely a bit too close for comfort.

Today I need to do lots of reading. I'm hoping to get started on the Bob and Jillian books this weekend.

emoticon 15 Bang Sat mini! Ditching Destructive Self-Bashing!

I once heard a guys say.... why do women do that? it's emotional self-mutilation! it was just too painful for him to hear, and he didn't want to. Couldn't understand if people posted that because they really felt that way or just wanted some attention and reassurance...

either way, I think it hurts us and our self-esteem in ways we can't even put into words, and it's like we take up where other people and society leave off and then double down...

as if that would motivate us to do better? NOT!!! Wouldn't do it to a friend, child or stranger, so refuse to do it to myself...

well, I am working to NOT do it to myself, and that is harder than I ever thought it would be. Takes active listening to what we are saying, stopping ourselves and replacing all craptacular negativity & lies with truth and kindness... and that is uplifting, confirming, encouranging, empowering, loving... and when we speak lovingly to ourselves, it is happy making and easier to be loving with others... imho... just takes some active practice & more practice...

I have an emotional self-mutilation NO Tolerance Policy, and I'm glad to say it's working :)

emoticon I love milk, but I like to drink it after workouts. I read once that drinking chocolate milk after workouts is a good thing because our body craves more than just water. It needs protein. So sometimes I do add a little chocolate ovaltine. I also know I need the calcium so I drink at least 1 cup a day, especially if I have worked out for the double whammy of calcium and protein. I do tend to shy away from calcium rich food, such as cheeses (and I hate yogurt), but I try to eat more calcium rich veggies, like broccoli and spinach.

Friday challenge emoticon

I know I love all things dairy.. so I'd love to believe that 3 servings of calcium a day can help with weight loss.. but its not just dairy that has calcium there are dark green veggies, fish, soy and tofu.. so you can get some variety while getting your calcium each day.

Does calcium help with weight loss? maybe.. but exercising and making good food choices seems to be more important than focusing on any one nutrient..

Hi everyone! So I've been off line again last day or so.. I still have a sinus cold and starting to think I guess I'll have to get an antibiotic.. but gonna have to wait til next week so keep popping the Sudafed.. I think im becoming immune to it! I've been bad though these week, not getting the exercise in and its cause I feel crappy.. hopefully I'll be back to myself soon.
Last major sweaty thing I did was on Tuesday when I mowed the lawn in the heat with my brother..that didn't help my head.. but it was necessary.
The weekend is here and I can get more sleep and maybe chicken soup is in order.. hot tea and vicks has lost its edge. emoticon

Good evening, my friends~~
What a day. I am exhausted. We got to the VA about 6:45, they got his labs at 7:00, and we headed upstairs. They gave him 2 units of platelets before taking him down for the procedure at 10. They did the thoracentesis, which is where they inserted a needle into his back, then somehow got a cath in there to draw the fluid off from the space between his lung and his back chest wall. They took off about a liter and sent it to lab for analysis. Praying for a good outcome to that. Then headed back upstairs about 11:15 to recovery. The first time they took his bp after it was like 71/50. Good thing I wasn't there, I'd have likely freaked out. =) I think they kinda did. =) So we were there for several hours (instead of the one they were anticipating) trying to get him sat up without his bp bottoming out. It took some time, but they finally had him up to about 96/60. Took him down for a chest x-ray to be sure they didn't puncture his lung, (they didn't think so because despite the bp, he was pretty asymptomatic.) They didn't. Back upstairs and another short wait and they let us go home. He was pretty drained, (no pun intended) ;) and because they didn't put him to sleep for this, (as they had planned), they gave him a pretty good dose of morphine for the pain. We got home about 3:30 or so and got a bit to eat, returned some phone calls, and we crashed about 4:30 or so. I slept like a rock til 7. =) Got up and got moving and got some dinner. Kept it pretty simple tonight. Now we are just chilling out a bit, he's watching the game and I came out to try to get my SP caught up for today. No curves, there just wasn't time and he needs someone with him til tomorrow. We'll see how tomorrow morning looks, but right now, not so good... so... who knows. =) Could make for a tough weekend finishing up this challenge. That would only be 4 days for me this week, but I might be able to find something here to do if I put my mind to it. Just need to DO THAT. =) Hoping for cooler temps, this heat is not my friend.

SO that was my day. I thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Hoping we are done with appointments for awhile... I think we are both just needing to rest and recouperate. And I'm needing to get that last chapter done, my final, and be ready for a couple weeks of just relaxing and having a good summer!!!

Hey everyone...sorry I've been MIA but have really been struggling for the past 2 to 3 weeks with external stressors and letting them get the best of me. This weekend I've returned to the drawing board, reviewing the things that worked for me back in February and March at the beginning of my journey. I crave structure and have been tweaking a few things in order to make the my routine move smoother.

I'm so glad to have been part of this challenge and appreciate each and every one of you. I'm so proud of all of us for being here, and I'm hoping to return to a later challenge when I'm back on the straight and narrow again...and I WILL get there very soon.

Had a good day today, my nutrition and exercise buddy is back and brought my sister Julie with her for a visit. We met some relatives for breakfast and I had a breakfast sandwich and coffee which I know was a good choice for me. Got some good walking in with my sister and now I am calling it a night. I hope everyone has great weekend filled with good choices.

For CJ my sis did some things today for his last day...he LOVES ice cream and has always wanted chocolate...and of course she never gave him any but today she got him some double chocolate brownie ice cream and he also loves the whipped cream on top of coffee but she wouldn't let him have it because of the coffee but he also gets that today...and ever since he was a baby he loved tearing up toilet paper...so she gave him a whole roll today to play with and he loved it! Then tonight all his "kids" (all the kids in our family) are coming over to visit him...he will have a blissful day today and we all will have some awesome memories...

Friday Mini Challenge
I heard on the Dr. Oz show that if we get our calcium, it speeds up your weight loss. Also on the news a year or so ago I heard that drinking 3 cups of milk a day' would help us lose weight. With what you know, do you think that calcium will help and if it does would you make it a priority?
According to spark I am allowed 100-150 units of calcium. I have to take a calcium supplement to reach the lesser amount of what I need. I don't much believe anything Dr. Oz says but I do think that calcium is important to our health as far as our bones are concerned but I'm not sure how important it is for weight loss.

Tammy --- sorry to hear about the family pet ---- the last time I had to put down our 14 year old Husky, we spent the morning at the park, then went through dairy queen and got her an ice cream cone, then took a nap together.....perfect dog day!!!''

I currently have one dog sleeping on my foot another snoozing on the couch....raining out, so I grabbed a cup of coffee and am catching up.

Hi all...today is a sad day, cause tomorrow my sis has to take her 8 year old dog to be put down. He has a degenerative disease and has gotten to where he is no longer having a good life...it was a hard decision. He is the WHOLE families dog cause at some point or another he has lived with all of us and all of our children have grown up with him...we are very sad today...our last day with him emoticon

On a lighter note, I am trying out a new loom knitting project...I am going to try and make a doll...I made the head yesterday and am working on the body...Hope you all have a good day!

Gail--Cantaloupe 1/2 cup Cubed there are 6 grams and in Watermelon 1/2 cup diced there is 5 grams...I could have those if I make sure I eat other things in the meal that do not have sugar...which there are things I can have....I can have fruits and veggies but I just need to measure carefully and I have a book that tells me how much each has of sugar and carbs...some I can have are:

Aprocots- 3 grams in an average sized one
Blackberries-1/4th cup has 2 grams
Olives-are free
Raspberries- 1/4 cup has 1 gram
Strawberries- Depending on size 1-4 grams

Broccoli--1 cup chopped 2 grams
Carrots--depending on size 2-3 grams
Celery--depending on size 0-1 grams
Lettuce--5 average sized leaves 1 grams

There are more but I am not a big freggie person...so its not hard for me at all...

Dawn, praying for you and Mark today. As for your eating you will know what works when you have weigh in. It sounds good though and maybe you will feel better eating more calories.

Lori, I know how you feel. when I heard that on the news I started drinking 3 glasses of milk a day and I started having some nice size losses. It proved it to me. But then I joined weight watchers and milk went up to 3 points---and like you said that was to many points. So I cut back to one.

Susan, sorry to hear you are sick again. I hope you are feeling better today. Is it heat related?

Scott, I am not an advocate of Dr. Oz by any means and I only watch his program once in a great while. He is saying that he has not indorsed any products so not to believe any advertisement that uses his name.

Jules, enjoy your Friday!

Tammy, how many grams of sugar are in watermelon or cantaloupe? Are you able to eat any fruit?

It seems true that you need your calcium, but I'm always just a little wary of Dr. Oz. Not that he's not reliable, but he seems to focus on the miracle of the day. Then some product he endorses spams my email. It always seems to me that what we need to do is make sure we get enough of our nutrients, in balance. I just read an article that said we may be underestimating our need for protein and recommending an increase in the amount we consume daily. There's no one magic bullet nutrient that will automatically unlock our secret weight loss problem. That's why I appreciate our nutrition tracking tools here. I can see how much of what I need that I get and make adjustments accordingly.

I think it is an essential mineral for bone health and to prevent bone loss as we age, aka osteoporosis, but there are things that are important to maintaining calcium levels in our bones from weight bearing exercise to particular foods that can be helpful, and the guidelines change as we age. It should not be overused for other reasons, as it may do harm.... and the understanding is still evolving as to whether it's better in combination with other essential minerals. That being said, I haven't done anything to supplement, and rarely have any dairy beyond cheese.

Happy FRIDAY! =)

We are fixin' to head up to the VA to get things going for Mark today. Prayers appreciated. I have my bag of goodies, (water, protein bar, stuff to do, including reading that LAST CHAPTER of accounting!!!) =) Could be a long day up there. If I need breaks I could run home as it's only about 2 minutes from my house. (literally). But I really feel the need to be there as much as I can. Depending on the outcome I will try to pop in later and hopfully be able to get to Curves later this afternoon. But gonna play it by ear.

I was doing some laundry this morning... I put my stinkin pedometer thru the laundry AGAIN, but this time it wiped it out. Oh well, this was free with my sign up at curves. So I guess I'll need to look for another sometime. Not in any hurry, but it was kinda nice to have. I just had alot of trouble keeping track of it!
