Hi Amy ,I will agree on what you said about being a simple lesson in conservation. We all take many things for granted and going without helps us recognize that.

I think it was a simple lesson in conservation. We take many things for granted and going without helps us recognize that. I don't think the hour was suppose to make a real difference, it just helped to raise our own awareness.

How will it help the environment it is the cleanest form of power ? And for that family they probably will not be without electricity very long. Ive known one family that tried that , it lasted about two years before they had electricity run to there cabin. Let the power and modern convenience get turn off and see how fast our society falls apart .

Any contribution no matter how small has the possibility to make a difference. In regards to giving up electricity, I'm reading a book right now for my research on a family in NY that no longer has electricity, by choice.
At this time, I don't see not using any electricity as a possibility. However, using less of it consistently and making it a priority is a real possibility and one that can have a positive impact on the environment.

I have to say the whole earth hour thing is totally ridiculous.Like most liberal ideas. People trying to make themselves feel good about there lives. If they were serious just give up electricity .

it was fun for our 4 year old...I don't think he's ever experienced the loss of electricity. He loved the use if candles. Who knows, this might become a tradition!
