I am working at preparing to participate in my first ever 5k run in Rosedale, Alberta in July. I have bee asking around and posting the Color Fun Run information on various boards hoping someone out there catches an interest and contacts me but so far no other SP members are inclined to join me for this event. I even had my daughter tell me she would be unable to attend with me. Surprisingly my husband has been very supportive and making plans for driving us there the night before and where we could stay when we get there. Its just a small event because I am just beginning and want to have fun as well as a feeling of accomplishment without feeling overwhelmed with a larger crowd of people that a bigger event might offer. At the end of May I will be visiting my daughter and seeing how well I can keep up with her. She has already been on a couple of months of the 9 week 5k running program. I started and then sprained a tendon on the ball of my right foot and had to stay off it for two weeks. This week I have been just walking the 5k to let my foot get used to exercising the distance again but starting next week I will be doing the couch to 5k program again.
To me HEALTH means Energy. Stamina. Flexibilty. A relatively pain free body. Enjoying healthy food. You are your body, and your weight loss efforts will succeed exactly to the extent that you mange to do the work on behalf of your embodied self. You’ll do much better when you focus on making positive changes to improve your health and well-being, rather than on fighting your bad habits.
What are your summer plans for the summer to get healthy?
"Don't blame anyone or anything for your situation or problems. When you do that, you are saying that you are powerless over your own life—which is utter crap. An empowering step to reclaiming your life is taking responsibility."
Is it easy? No! ... It has to be a conscious decision.
