This happened to me last night. I finally got up and stayed up, I was just given this diagnosis on Jan 31. I have sore throat/ear as my main symptom. How do you get it to stop? After it happens, and you see the trigger, stay away, how long does it remain? I hate this already!!!
Have you tried baking soda? It neutralizes battery acid as well as stomach acid! I just dip a (clean) finger in the conatiner and suck on it, chase with a bit of water if needed. LOL on a side note, I sometimes get reflux from plain water and have to add baking soda to it!

I often have this same problem. I try to calm myself down and sleep sitting up. However, in worst case scenarios when nothing is working and Im in just too much pain, I crush some tums, make a paste with some water, and drink that. It's hard to stomach, but it works.

It's almost 2am here and, once again, I was awakened by a horribly burnt throat and horrible taste in my mouth. When this happens I have found that sucking a cloraseptic lozenge helps a bit and I have to sit up for about an hour or more before I can hope to lay down again. And, by laying down, I mean lay on the bed I have raised 8 inches at the head by wooden blocks, PLUS a wedge pillow with 2 pillows on top of that. I may as well stand in the corner and sleep!
I know GERD takes many forms. Do any of you have this same problem? What have you found that helps? (I'm already on prescription meds). Thanks for your time and input on this problem. :)
