our favorite family story, that we still laugh at...My mom, sister and I were at Disneyland for our annual christmas visit. We decided to do the canoes around the Island. My mom sat on the seat, and promptly slid off and landed in the bottom of the canoe, with her feet up in the air. The canoe guide looks down at her and says with a straight face, I'm sorry ma'am, these seats dont recline" and wouldnt help her up! We got him back though, halfway through the trip, we convinced everyone to stop rowing...that poor guide had no idea what to do...! Might be one of those "u had to be there stories", but always stands out in my mind! emoticon

2 Spontaneous Disney trips that came out of nowhere -

In September '09 - my sister was having a rough time, so I booked tickets to leave the next day to take a breather. Friday night I'm booking tickets for Saturday's flight...

Last Thanksgiving - I booked a last minute trip, and my 15yo and I hit the road 2 hours later. That was crazy and fun!

I just found out yesterday that I am going to Disney World in October. This is the year Disney is giving a free entry to the parks on your birthday. My husband will be celebrating his 62nd birthday while we are there. I'm sure I will have another memorable experience to write about when we get home!

One more story from me. On our last visit we were in Epcot, the kids had not ridden on Spaceship earth yet, it was still in soft openings from it's last major renovation. The kids got in line and hubby and I were detained in a conversation because a CM had noticed our Anniversary button. Soon another CM approached because she was from Ohio and my huby was wearing a Buckeyes football tee. After a few minutes of conversation, the 2nd CM asked us to point out where the kids were, we did and she pulled them out of the line and took us all in the back entrance and bumped us in front of the line, we entered where people get off and were placed in the seats, what a funny look on the faces of those waiting in line. It was a very long line that we were bumped, the kids would have been waiting at least another 45 minutes. Cool memory for all.

Love both stories. After living in Holland for 3 yrs we tend to ignore the rain as well. Learned getting wet is not big deal.

In 2005 my mother came to visit and it was her first time in Disney (it was fantastic!). Anyway, we were at Epcot center and it started raining. everybody run for cover. My mother and I are kind of weird, so we ignored the rain and just walked around as nothing was happening. Well, the problem was that my mother blouse became completely transparent because it was wet. Not that she was too concerned about it, but a 70 yo woman with big breasts showing it all is not exactly proper. while i was trying to find a place to buy here a shirt, a cast member came out of one store and offered her one Disney T-shirt. it was really kind of the girl. I would have paid for it, but she refused. now, that is service!

oh! In time. We took the chance that Soaring was practically empty and went for a ride. WE almost froze to death! LOL

During WDW's 25th anniversary year, our family walked out onto Main Street USA and was asked if we would like to represent one of the 25 years. We got to go on stage in front of the castle and be part of the show and cheer for our year.

A few years ago we were at Disney World and my husband noticed that the battery pack on our video camera wasn't on right. He adjusted it and said it was OK. Shortly after that, we rode on Space Mountain. After getting off the ride, my husband realized the battery pack was missing off the camera. He instantly was upset about having to buy another one at Disney prices. I went back to the ride and asked the person working at the entrance if there was any way they had found the battery. She called up to the top and asked. They said they had the battery and we could come up to get it. This was before they had the fast pass line so what is now the quick path up was what my daughter and I used to get to the top. What we didn't know was that while we were making our way up there, the worker at the bottom could not let anyone else in the ride. As a result, the line suddenly got really long. After we got the battery and came back down, they started the line back up and it was instantly gone from sight. We were so glad we did not have to buy a new battery.

OK, I have told this before, but here goes for another memorable Disney moment. It was the day after Christmas, we were at WDW to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, part of the celebration was dinner in Cinderella's castle, with the fairy godmother presiding. She comes out and is talking to the crowd, then she asked if everyone was having a good holiday celebration, of course everyone in the crowd raised their hands except my hubby, she notices and immediately starts calling him Scrooge. Every few minutes she would refer back to him as Scrooge. Then towards the end she asks about birthday celebrations, then anniversary celebrations, when my hubby raised his hand, the look on FG face was awesome. I am telling you that you could have knocked her down with a feather. The look was of course the man I have been harrassing is also celebrating, she asked us how many years and again the look of shock at the number 35. (Hubby and I do not look old enough to have been married that long).

All that was very memorable, but the topper was after the FG left the room, soon our server came out with a small box, handed it to me and said it was a gift from the Fairy Godmother, I opened it and it was a set of 2 champagne flutes with "Cinderella's Royal Table" design on the front of each.

Turns out for me the two flutes are the best thing ever gotten at WDW, other than the great memories that is!

I think this is a good place to put this---especially for those traveling with babies.--On our first trip---my youngest being 7 months and the other 2--9 and 10. We decided to hire a Disney babysitter for a day so that we could go to MGM. We had a marvelous day and would not have been able to do all the stuff if we had had the baby with us. And it was a wonderful day for my baby son---he was sooo tired from the previous days that he took 4 naps for the babysitter and had a day to recoop. The Disney babysitter had a lovely day with him. She said she had never been hired for that but that it was a great idea. So for any of you traveling with small children, using their services is a great, safe way for you to have some fun and your kids to recoop from all the coming and going. And our little one was great for the next couple of days that we had left---which I don't think he would have if he had not had a day off from all the traveling. It was worth the expense.

Rumour,

I have already seen a wedding proposal at Disney twice. Always in front of the Castle. It is magical even for the people that are watching. it is really a traffic stopper and people watch and cheer. it is really nice!

About 1996 we went to Disney World the week of Christmas. My kid were 10 and 12 at the time. I had always wanted to see the Disney parade live and to see all the decorations. I told my husband we would be on TV for the parade and he told me I was crazy. Before we left I set up the VCR to tape the parade. Sure enough, we were on TV and to this day, my kids still ask to see that tape every Christmas!

First visit, my youngest was only 7 months old---and we meet Mickey at the American Exhibit at Epcot---and Michael licks Mickey on the nose---my nickname for my son is Mickel Mouse because of that incident---and he is now 19 and 6' 5" tall---but he will always be my Mickey Mouse!

Well, I have a great Disneyland experience!

It was New Year's Eve 1999-2000. Of course Disneyland was packed for the holiday. It was cold and slightly rainy, but we were having a great time.

My boyfriend takes me to the Castle because he wants to have pictures taken in front of it. Well, they closed off the area to get ready for the fireworks. Dave, my bf, begs the security there to let us through the ropes just to take a few pics. They allowed it, and we go in.

Our friends take a couple of pics. Next thing I know, Dave, says he has to ask one question before the year ends. He bends down on one knee and proposes.

Let me set up the scenario. There are TONS of people watching this because they are waiting for the fireworks to begin. Also, there is a countdown timer on the castle. So as all of this is happening, the crowd is screaming, and my friends are snapping pictures like mad. We also have second by second play due to the timer.

Well, of course I said yes! The crowd goes wild! I can safely say that was a good night!

Live with Passion!

When asked this question, my first reply is always the time we took my mother in law to WDW, it was the first year of Epcot. We kept trying to do Spaceship earth and the lines were so long we kept saying we would come back later. Well finally on our way out of the park, the line was short and we eagerly got in the line and was thrilled to finally get to do the ride. We just kept going higher and higher and not paying any attention except to the displays and naration. Suddenly the ride stopped, an announcement came telling us not to try to get out of the vehicles, and that the ride would resume momentarily. So we waited, then suddenly all the lighting went out, again the same announcement. After a few more minutes, the interior emergency lights came on and this time there was a different announcement, the ride was experiencing difficulties and a cast member would be escorting us to the exit and PLEASE wait for a cast member, do not try to disembark by yourself. I am sure the cast member thought we were nuts, but we just kept laughing the whole way down, oddly enough we had stopped at the very top of the attraction, had the farthest to go to get out and with my MIL being legally blind, probably the most dangerour guest to need to escort. My hubby with the help of the CM helped his mother while I took care of our daughter and neice. For years and years, all we had to do was say the words Spaceship Earth and it would bring laughter. The thing is, to most that was not funny, but to us after waiting and waiting and the lines being so long, of course the ride was going to break down when we finally had a short line and was on the ride. That is just our luck. Turns out to be the most memorable ride ever and with tears in our eyes even when seeing a pic of Spaceship Earth, we think back on that time and take a moment to remember.

Oh, so many memories! I'll be posting a lot on this thread. So I'll start with the time we went to Disneyland Paris for my son's 5th birthday. We went to a character breakfast in the New York Hotel and even ordered a cake. It was HUGE! Adam loved it, especially when Minnie came over with it and everyone sang Happy Birthday. He had also interacted with Pluto, Goofy and the Mice from Cinderella. The one downside was that, at Disneyland Paris, the other guests can be quite rude and tried to interupt Minnie's time with Adam wishing him a happy birthday. We have some great pictures and memories from that visit though.

I seem to have the "luck" of being on a ride and it breaks. I have already walk to leave the Peter Pan ride, it is a small world, the Pirate of Caribean (twice) and soarin. I do not even get nervous anymore. LOL

I'm a big Figment fan and a couple of years ago when they still had the life-size Figment charater at Figment's Place. My son's girlfriend and I went to see him. Figment dropped down on his knee as if to propose. When I told him I was sorry but I was already married, he went over to my husband to plead with him to allow me to marry him. We got pictures of the whole thing. It was great.

I think it would be fun to see what memorable experiences everyone has enjoyed because of Walt Disney's visions. I'll start.

One of my first experiences with WDW was riding on Spaceship Mountain. I remember getting ready to get in the car when the person helping to load them said "when did they put car 33 back on, it went off the track this morning?" Of course, I was scared to death to ride thinking it really had gone off the track.
