I think what you may feel is dissapointment in yourself, not your gramma's in you. You are alert and smar enough to see that you need help before it is irreversable. Pray about what to say to gramma. I know that if my grandlovies ( I have 12 1/2), came to me honestly and openly, I would help them however I could. We have 5 adult kids. Two are back home. It is just plain tough out there. No shame in needing help now and then. I agree on the Financial Peace Class. They are awesome. Jude

Citygirl, I am just so overwhelmed with the great advise from so many. God is awesome and right now He is taking care of you. As a gramma, I would happily help out any of my grandkids (I have many)that needed help and were helping themselves. I would not hesitate and I would not judge them. However, if they just wanted to live off me and continue in the lifestyle that brought them to their current situation, I would not be a willing partner. So I can see that you would benefit from all the advise and go see gramma, let her know what's going on and show he your plan. Then work your plan, set time goals and celebrate every achievement, yes especially the small ones. Praying for you

Wow, it sounds like God may be telling you to check out Dave Ramsey. (a great idea by the way)

I know that there are a lot of people in your shoes. I don't think it's shameful to go home for a while to get caught up. You're still very young. I really think that you would benefit greatly from going through a "Financial Peace University" program at a local church. It's one of Dave Ramsay's programs and very effective and enlightening. I think that it could really help. You can go on http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/home/ and in the middle of the page it will say "find a FPU near you". God Bless you in your efforts.

God bless you for realizing that you need to make some changes to better yourself. I don't think your grandmother will have any reason to be disappointed in you because you are trying to make to be wise and make some changes where changes can be made. I pray that everything will work out for you ACCORDING TO HIS PLANS.

God Bless you - Sheri

I will keep you in my prayers. You're looking at this the right way, I think. You're not opposed to the way God is taking care of you, just praying that you accept it with grace and handle it the right way.

You have made a giant step in getting this taken care of just by admitting it to yourself. WAY TO GO!!
I am sure that your Grandma~ although possibly disappointed, still loves you and wants what is best for you. She will be happy to give you a landing space and you can help her out in many ways other than monetarily.
You need to go online to www.daveramsey.com
He gives sound, solid and very helpful advice about getting your finances under control.
There is also a helpful team here "Dave Ramsey Fans" that you may want to check out. They also have a lot of tried and true advice.
You will make it! Keep your chin up!

God Bless,

Tough situation I'm sure. The idea of writing down what you have, how you need to get there and how you will get there while living with your grandmother is a great sign of maturity. The LAST thing you want to do is take out loans, extend credit cards, etc. to get yourself into more debt. I would suggest looking into financial peace for freedom through Dave Ramsey. You can look up his information on his website under his name. I"ll pray that you allow God to guide you in what he wants that is best for you and your situation.

God Bless You and Keep you Safe

Demi has a great idea. If God leads you back home, then approaching your grandmother with a plan of how you'll pay for your keep, how long you'll stay, and what you'll be responsible for while you're there will demonstrate your maturity and thoughtfulness. Who could turn that down?

Still praying for your tough decision...

CityGirl, I will be praying for you, especially for your peace of mind. If you are looking over your finances anyway, you might consider just summarizing it on a sheet of paper, so that when you approach her, you can say, "This is where I am. This is where I need to be. This is how long I think it will take me to get there." Good luck, sweetie, and email me if I can help in any way, even if you just need to talk. My prayers are with you.

God has a plan for you. It sounds like you already know that, but I just wanted to remind you! :) There's no shame in going back home; you're right that if God sends you there He has a reason for it, so don't let pride stand in your way.

I'll pray for your finances as well as your decision. I'll pray that God will make it so clear that you can't NOT do what He asks. Whatever it is, He will get the glory for it.

Covering you right now...
Melanie

I have been struggling financially for a few months now. Bills keep getting hirer and keep coming, and paychecks are staying the same.

I'm 24 years old, i've been on my own since i was 18, and i think i have to approach my grandmother (my gaurdian) about moving home. Just long enough to pay off bills, save some money and get myself back on my feet. I'm terrified to approach her about this though. I don't think she'll say "no", what worries me is that she'll be disappointed in me.

I'm going to take another look over my finances in the next couple of days (to make sure this is necessary) and then approach her.

I'm not asking for prayer to make it not happen, in some ways i feel all this may be God's way of calling me home for something. The last time i had to go home for a summer (in between apartments due to roommate issues) my mother who is mentally ill wound up in the mental hospital and i looked after my little brother.

I'm just asking God for the strength and courage to do what I know i need to do.

Thank you.
