Vitamin C tablets crushed or vinegar and I have also heard lemon lime soda (which is undoubtedly the ascorbic acid in it):

Also Fruit Fresh is common in the stores (might be stashed with the canning supplies) which is just ascorbic acid/vit c - I have used it when canning.

Not Diet related but health related in a way

I tried getting suggestions before for this with no luck thought I would try again here.

I need a substitute for citrus when trying to keep fresh cut fruit like apples and bananas from turning brown.

I decorate cakes on the side (a hobby turned part time business) I use all edible decorations when making them and tend to get a lot of requests for the decorations to be made of fruit. The only thing I know that works is citrus but can't use it for 2 reasons.

1. Most people don't care for the taste it leave.
2. I am HIGHLY allergic to citrus fruits even getting the juice on my skin causes me to get a nasty rash & ingesting it or getting it into my body in anyway will send me into Anaphylaxis.

I was recomended a product called "tater White" but have never been able to find it.

Anyone have any ideas?
