I've been a slug all weekend, with no excuses except staying up too late...lol

No cardio Fri., overslept, no cardio Sat., overslept...today? Just got 50 mins. on my 'mill and am heading out on my bike to nail some of that gorgeous sunshine...YES! Enough of slug-dom! lol

Then....it's off to the Spiedie Fest with my son to catch Blue Oyster Cult!

I'll MAKE it a great weekend YET!

Don

Added later: Yep! Nailed 60 mins. biking...woo hoo! THAT'S more LIKE it! :-)

Nothing to report for the last two days -- someone kick me! Yesterday I went with my mom to see Mama Mia instead of getting in a workout. (It was worth it, though, I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it!) Today we were in Syracuse all day and didn't get back until late. My oldest stepson had a doctors appointment and then we went to the mall. I did a ton of walking all day, but nothing official, just gravy.

Hey Lady - that is definately cardio activity! You probably know that there is a category in OTHER ACTIVITIES that indicates extra stuff like heavy cleaning, gardening etc. I count it when I really think I have burnt some calories by busting my butt when I normally would have been sitting around. The little extra things we call "gravy" and don't bother adding them in. But even gravy should be acknowledged! Maybe we can start a thread to talk about it more.

my 85 year old blind father and I just built a brick walk in the back of the house. It looks pretty good even though I dyed the last batch of cement at a slightly different shade from the rest. But boy I could have skipped the gym. Mixing cement by hand is HARD.

I promised myself that I would clean at preschool today so off for more work. Does this count as training towards Alaska? I really hope so because I am not sure how much energy I will have left when I get home.

Thanks Kobe - it was nice to beat that particular team. They are the ones who set up those RE-FREAKING-TARDED rules. Fran was just about peeing her pants!

I felt pretty good but felt some tightness right in my badspot after swinging the bat. No problem with the pitching motion thankfully. I am very happy and relieved that you are on the team, you are a great acquisition and I am quite full of myself that I found you! But seriously, it helps me to have someone else who can pitch decently, it was stressful because if something hurts on me, like my calf, it screws up my game. The older I get the more likely that will happen (sigh!)

So add 75 minutes softball for me too. Gotta get out and walk - walking is my drug!

Sun - ran at the park - not as far as Sat. - and walked 80 minutes. got home and washed my truck, then cleaned out/up my basement.

Then the dogs were all looking at me like I was the stupidest human they know because "hellooo - you haven't taken us for OUR walk yet and it is getting hotter outside by the minute"!! So off we went - they are such good motivators.

Then I moved the house cleaning up to the next 2 floors of the house and baked a blueberry coffee cake in the evening when it got cooler.

Since I took the dogs for a walk yesterday, I hope they do the dishes that are all still sitting there from yesterday - since I ran out of energy to stand long enough to do them - emoticon ... proabably not - they can't reach the sink!

110 fitness minutes + tons of "gravy"

have a great day everyone - we have 4 days to reach that goal - let's get hoppin'! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Unfortunately no...this year's WorldFest wasn't quite up to last year's standards.

I had truly hoped either the International Garifuna Band would return or its equivalent. Here's a YouTube of a few minutes of Felix and his Garifuna Band:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA0eSqzT_zY

He was so spontaneous and infectious! Always on the go and shouting out "Shake what yo' Mama gave you!" The secret to their dancing he said was to move your Boonda (probably horribly misspelled...lol). Boonda? That's one's backside... :-)

Part of the problem was the turnout...maybe 100 in the forum...? Very, very sad how few are interested in expanding their multi-cultural appreciation of music and dance in this area!

So I think it was a bit difficult for the musicians to be "sparked" by such a small crowd.

I truly admired, appreciated and immensely enjoyed

"Atzilut: Concerts for Peace celebrates the common roots of Arabic and Jewish music and shows the potential for creative collaboration that so many hope for in the Middle East. Featuring Arabic and Hebrew singers, four percussionists, 'oud, nai, violin, flute and bass, Atzilut will perform a selection of cross-cultural music in both Hebrew and Arabic for a truly eclectic performance thatís not to be missed!"

They had belly dancing lessons beforehand...and NO I didn't QUITE feel up to BELLY DANCING...lol!

This band was amazing to see both Hebrew and Arab musicians playing their hearts out! They had 3 or 4 percussionists which were always hitting a terrific groove.

Kaissa and her band were slick, professional, knew their stuff...just didn't come off feeling very inspired.

Have to admit to leaving before the last band...thinking about getting home and getting to sleep at a decent hour.

Now if the music was MOVING me...sleep would have been the LAST thing on my mind!

LatinFest is coming on 8/10, which is going to be outside @ Government Plaza on Hawley St. I'll have to miss as I am going to MI for a family reunion, but it should promise to be a much more SPIRITED gathering, both because it is outdoors and Latin bands really know how to turn up the HEAT! :-)

Don't miss it!

Got my 'millwork in, 35 mins, 2.4 miles...good hustle...nice and cool this morning!

Everyone have a super day!

I DID IT!

Biked round State Park and only had to get off the bike to walk up one hill (the one by Tween Lakes...what a KILLER...lol).

Felt great to be tackling more hills, not just tame ol' Otsiningo Park.

That's the way I like to travel too, veggies and nuts are my on-the-road-munchie foods.

Got my treadmill 35 mins. in this morning, hoping to get out and bike after work this evening as the next several days look uncertain re: rain, etc.

Have a good one folks!

So smart Ladywez - have a good time!

My hubby took me to lunch at Crossroads and I got a spiedie wrap, which I ate half. Didnt know it came with fries - they are my weakness! Had about half then pushed the plate away which is much different then 3 months ago! Then I asked for a box and just took the wrap - no fries came home to tempt me!!
HA!
So I walked fast for 60 minutes, bumped up from 45. YEAH!

Sitting here eating my oatmeal with soymilk before getting into the car. Still have to walk the puppies.
But I packed celery, carrots etc. for the car. Much better than what I use to pack to drive with (candy, soda etc.) I use to think all that sugar would help with the energy. This time there is an apple for energy.

yepper - all fitness cardio, strength, sports - great job!!!

Have a fun time and walk a lot - it really helps to offset the "special" (ha ha notice I didn't say "bad") eating that you might do.

I DID get on the treadmill last night even though it wasn't raining - I wanted to control the pace and see where I was most comfortable. I ran the 5K distance in 35:25 which was longer than the Lee Barta run but I had it at 3% incline - anyone know if that is comparable to running outside?

Anyway-35 min running, 25 min walk/run on the treadmill, then I took the dogs for their walk - 30 min = 90 min
What a great night!! Cool, no humidity.

I just realized that I am only tracking cardio minutes and not weight training. Are we suppose to be tracking both???

Well I am off to DC to see old friends. It will be a BAD eating weekend. I am stopping outside of Gettysburg to buy lots of fruits and veggies to try and keep some health in my diet.

Have a great weekend guys. Maybe we will at least get out walking and sight seeing in DC.

I got a whopping 30 min walk in w/the dogs last night before hubby blew the rest of my plans out of the water....

(DO NOT even want to tell you that we ended up at the chinese buffet YET AGAIN so I won't)

I WILL get on that treadmill tonight unless the house burns down or someone has stole my treadmill - as of 20 min ago neither of those things had happened so I am on track!!

Band Practice for 2 hours last nite - definately a workout - standing, playing an instrument is considered 300 calories burned an hour. Sounds about right.
I am craving a walk!

I hope so for your sake too....but I heard we are supposed to have heavy rain this afternoon (if only they could be wrong on these days - right!!)

I have already decided to run the treadmill tonight. Actually looking forward to it again to get a pace set again maybe - running outside is so hit and miss w/me as far as getting a good pace.

Fingers crossed for the "Bike Brigade" emoticon

We're over 8000 minutes!

Mon -- 120 minutes cycling
Tues -- 58 minutes cycling

Wed -- I hope it stops raining and dries up right around the time I'm off work like it has done the last couple of days. My sister's family is in town and they all brought their bikes. We're trying to meet at Port Dickinson Park so all 10 of us (Me, my two kids, Sister, Sister's husband, their three kids, and my mom and her husband!) can go riding together.

Lazy weekend for me. No workout either Saturday or Sunday. Everytime I tried getting on my bike it would pour, and the times it wasn't raining we were busy doing family stuff. I think I needed the break, just so long as I'm back on track today.

Whew, it's been so blasted MUGGY! Yesterday we got trapped in Wegman's by that torrential rainstorm with thunder and lightning crackling up a raucous show for all of us waiting for it to pass...which it did, finally!

We did our weekend big batch cooking for the week last night.

Also had fun blueberry picking earlier yesterday...got my dose of Vitamin D.... :-)

Hope everyone's doing well today, rested, re-charged and ready for the week ahead!

Ahhhh a nice lazy weekend. Some gravy like gardening and walking Ross Park on Saturday. I call that gravy because it was more like a stroll AND it was the Ice cream safari - 5 scoops hence no calorie tracking on Saturday (why bother!?)
Sunday I walked 2 miles - 35 minutes.

Mother Nature cooperated and I was able to get a bike ride in last night before 6 @ Otsiningo.

I still have a hard time taking it easy on the bike...it's flat out pedaling or I'm stopped...lol.

Problem is, I'm not as confident as I need to be maneuvering the darn thing...saw a little puddle, didn't feel confident with what was around to navigate around it...thought, eh, it's just a little puddle, can't do THAT much damage, right...?

WRONG! I got myself nicely polka-dotted...lol!

Well, on the chance that SOMEONE will make it, I still plan to be there.

But we really should start thinking of an alternative time/date/place to try this again...hopefully with more folks and doing a potluck, etc.

Well much to my dismay one of our cars died today. I will not be making it tonight unless the car god decides to make things all better quickly.

I just had it towed to the garage and they said "we will have to order that part" never ever a good statement.

I got in a 35 min. "walk 'n talk" session with one of my clients today, along with 40 mins. on treadmill 1st thing in the morning. Hoping to get a bike ride in later...woo hoo!

Hey, where does one go for the body fat test @ SUNY B? It would be interesting to do that sometime.

good good good.....

I am pretty sure I got my 10 miles in too but cannot verify - we did a lot of walking over the weekend but I forgot my pedometer so I couldn't even use that as a gauge.

Good luck with that test - let me know how it goes - I still want to get one too, I looked into it at the YMCA and then never did it.

Lee Barta Run @ Rec park. Goal is to finish whole thing w/o walking at all, establish a "time" and then run the 5K at the Spiedie Fest on 8/3 and "better" that time. emoticon
