I did well too. Managed to use portion control.

We will have:
Turkey and ham
Mashed potatoes, gravy
Rolls
Scalloped corn
Baked Macaroni and cheese (my one indulgence)
Rolls (My sister-in-law makes the best rolls, I don't usually eat them, but I may have one of these for one of the two meals.)
Veggie tray with EVERYTHING possible--there will be ranch and other dip for those who must...
Fruit jello
Pie--pumpkin and fruit
Cake or brownies

I know exactly what I will want and have--turkey, mac and cheese, tomatoes, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, pickles and possibly a roll. This will be just perfect. I'll probably have some jello later on and I might split a piece of pumpkin pie with my husband after the evening meal. This will be a wonderful meal with something for everyone and some pretty healthy stuff as well. (I love the veggie tray and it always sits by me--keeps me from nibbling on anything that might make me feel guilty or something.)

Hi all,
This is a no-brainer for me this year. We are having Thanksgiving here at our house (if we ever get finished with all of the work on the house... It's coming along and we made nice progress on the "projects" over the weekend!)
Anyway--turkey is a mainstay and I make the biggest and best veggie/ relish tray that I always have sitting by me. (If I am going to nibble, it will be of of the tray.) I choose one item of the higher calorie stuff and that satisfies me quite well. With my daily water, I'm in good shape and with a lot of people around who know that I'm watching what goes in my mouth, I won't indulge in the wrong food. (That is why it is good to share your goals, it is like making a commitment to everyone and keeps me safe.)
Dinner will be left overs and I'll eat in a similar way, except the turkey will be a sandwich and along with more veggies, that will work out just fine.
I just wish other things would work out so well!!

CJSargent1- U have nothing that U prepare to take with you? I often recommend that a Low Carb Diet Member bring a Dish to fall back onto when the temptation may be too great to go over-board. It can often be enjoyed by everyone to their surprise, I might add.emoticon

We're staying home too- don't know yet if DH is working yet. I've scoured out some of my best options and starting to narrow down what we can afford both financially and diet wise. Good Luck Team!

Hi Team-

In an effort to help the Newbies on our Team & keep some of us Oldies on Track too. I thought we'd start NOW to plan and track what we've chosen to Cook or Eat for Thanksgiving. I realize a lot of Members are traveiling to be with Families, making this an even more important Challenge to Plan ahead for. But a lot of us are the Main Cook, Shopper, and Planner for the Meals of this Seasonal Occasion.

So in that light, lets see who can come up with the Lowest Carb and Healthiest Choices & share them here. If possible post them into the Sparkrecipes.com site and that way we ALL can have them for Reference Material to use in our own preparations. recipes.sparkpeople.com/home.asp

This Challenge can be for whatever Meal Course you Chose to Plan ahead for, it isn't limited to the Main Dinner only. It can also include just Dessert's or Appetizers.
