Aw, thanks, Diane! Yeah, I found out that my 1 spoon of sugar in my big coffee mug only raises my sugar 15 points! Yay, I LOVE my coffee.

Thanks for the kind words, you and the whole team! I love y'all for them!

Peace Out,
Sandy

Thanks, Liz! I am really trying now!

We went to Columbus to the doctor today. We got up at 5:30 and I tested my sugar. It was 174. We got on the road at 6:15 and when were 20 miles or so of the city, we stopped at MickeyDs where I had a biscuit with egg, cheese and sausage. That's all, I had my water with me. When we got to the doctors at 7:50 I tested again. My sugar was up to 240! OMG, I had NO IDEA that that breakfast sandwich would make it go up so far! Anyway, AGAIN I got the story about 'prior-authorization'! I watched this time as they COPIED my insurance and supplemental! But at least I got a prescription for Byetta faxed to the drugstore here where I live! So as soon as my pharmacy gets the okay, I get my Byetta! Oh, I did get my Avandia today and I now have plenty of strips so I can find out what I can eat without killing myself! LOL

Okay, I just wanted to update y'all on my continuing saga: As the Byetta Turns! HAHAHA Thanks for your kind words and thoughts for me. I promise to do my part! Love y'all!!!

Peace Out,
Sandy

I must mark this day down on my calendar! I got my first shipment from Liberty! I now have PLENTY of strips, a new meter and the form, which I have already signed, for the actual meds.

But I go to the doctor tomorrow so one way or the other I will have my Byetta by tomorrow! WooHoo!

Thanks, y'all, for your kind thoughts and concern for me in my time of need! I love y'all more than you could know!!!

Peace Out,
Sandy

I've always seen the commericals saying how they help with this or that...

Hi, team! I just wanted to update you on my diabetes and the problems I was having getting enough testing supplies and one of my meds. I called Liberty and not only will they deliver enough testing supplies to test 4 times a day but also both of my meds, including the Byetta, which I had to do without this month due to insurance problems!

Just wanted you to know. Thanks for reading this!

Peace Out,
Sandy

You need to get this under control GF! Did the doc put you on any kind of metformin? Like Glucovance? or Janumet? Metformin is the drug that usually causes the lactic acid build up that causes muscle cramping...

I've been diabetic for 11 yrs and have worked at Merck as a biochemist on Type II diabetes for 18 yrs. I'm on Byetta(20mcg) Prandin and Janumet. I worked on Janumet.

I won't take the glitazones like avandia and actos because they cause swelling, weight gain and heart problems. I was on Actos for a yr but I fought the doc about it the whole time, then switched to Byetta as soon as it came out. I'm surprised at 447 that they didn't put you on insulin....You need to get that number under 140... they want 100 these days but about 5 yrs ago it was 140 that was when the american diabetes association lowered the recomendation to 100... your A1C should be under 7.

this is a good web site to go to for more info...

Hang in there and check your fasting blood levels

Hi,team!
I wanted to tell you what happened at my doctor's yesterday. First, I lost 2 pounds, so THAT'S okay! My doctor asked me if I brought my meter for him to read it and I confessed that I don't check my sugar. They check it every month but the readings have been good and I thought I'd been mis-diagnosed. I asked them to check me and they did. It was 447! I said the test was wrong, it couldn't be that high. So they tested again ~ 449! The ONLY symptom I had was I was VERY thirsty, like I drank at least 10 8oz glasses of water while I was at the doctor's. But when I saw how upset they were at my number, I guess I kind of went into shock. I became very, very lightheaded and dizzy. They gave me 30 units of insulin, which I have never had to use before. They made me sit for 15 minutes or so to make sure I wouldn't have a reaction to the insulin.

The doctor prescribed Avandia and Byetta, an injectable, for the diabetes but when I got to the pharmacy I found out that I couldn't get the Byetta because it's a "prior-authorization" med! So, I have to wait till September 1 to get that. I'm taking the Avandia but the Byetta makes it work waaay better. Dad-gum insurance companies!

After we left the doctor's we stopped by my daughter's to see her and the grandboys. I don't know why but EVERY muscle from the knee down started cramping very badly! Terri, my daughter, gave me a foot rub since the toes were standing straight up I was cramping so bad! Then my Ron gave me another foot rub and they got a little easier. Thank God! But I got charlie-horses in both calves! The left one is bad enough but I can flex the foot and stretch it out but the right ankle is fused and won't flex so that calf hurt soooooooo bad! I finally got them to settle down and I drove the 80 miles back home!

Weird, huh? I was totally shocked by that news and I wanted to share it with y'all. BTW, my pc has been so slow lately so I am waaayyyy behind on my emails! So, if I've ignored anyone, I don't mean to, that's for sure! I love every member of this team, which is why I wanted you to know my news!

Big Hugs to the Team!
Sandy

Peace Out,
Sandy
