Please say a prayer for me! Tonight I coughed up blood for the first time and I am scared. The doctor always asks me if I'm coughing up blood-yet-and I never have until now. I only have 8 more radiation treatments, and I am scheduled for another month of chemo, but I had to take a break for a week because I cannot eat or drink anything hardly. and now I'm coughing up blood. Thank you, Sue
All of your prayers are greatly appreciated. I went to the ER a week ago yesterday, then I was admitted to the hospital. A stent was put in my vein in lower right abdomen area. Tests revealed narrowing of the vein caused by damage from radiation four years ago and the tumor that is around my illiac artery is moving towards the vein. I go see the surgoen and oncologist next week. Sharon
After seeing enlarged lymph nodes in lower abdomen on CT Scan back in May and August, my oncologist submitted a PETScan request to our insurance company. (I had anal cancer back in 2007.) A request for a PETScan was denied by the insurance company three times. The reason, PETScans are not covered because of the type of cancer that I had/have. (They approved them in 2007) Because of previous cancer and lower right abdominal pain, I had to have exploratory surgery. This was done on Oct. 7th. They found a tumor wrapped around my external illiac artery and a lot of damage from radiation that had to be repaired. Biopsy has confirmed that my cancer has metastasized into my lymph nodes. I was in the hospital and rehab from 10/02 - 11/15. I am now almost three months out of surgery. While waiting for the surgical wound to heal, about two weeks ago, I began having problems with excessive drainage. For these reasons, cancer treatment has not been started. I had a fistula gram done last week. I have two fistulas, one in the surgical site and a small one in my small intestine. My surgeon spoke with my oncologist; he said not to start chemo/radiation as it could cause further problems with the fistulas. I had been on a wound vac, that was taken off about two weeks ago. Even at a lower suction rate; there is concern with the fistulas. Because of it's location; surgeon was only able to remove half the tumor. Meanwhile this tumor is causing pain and circulation problems. My onco. thinks the tumor is growing causing these problems. It has already been three months since I have been diagnosed with this latest bout of cancer. Prayers of healing are greatly appreciated. God's Blessing to you and your families for a happy and healthy new year. Thank you, Sharon
