Hi Rosegarden,
Thanks, I'm a lot better.
I'm still feeling tired after I do anything but it's getting better and I can still cough for England but that's mostly with a change in air temperature so I am sleeping through the night again which is certainly a lot easier on both me and DH and it doesn't hurt to breathe anymore.
I've started to up my walking a little, I start of fantastic and get slower and slower emoticon , but the Doc. says not to rush, it'll take time it so I'm not pushing myself too far.

Trust you are well after your busy week-end at thr Rose festival, sounds as though it was a spectacle.
Take care emoticon

Hi Everybody!
I have fantastic news...I get to live a little longer (hopefully a lot longer!).
I had a CA125 done on the 29th...got the results the 1st.
My marker count is suppose to be below 35 remember welllllll...they are sitting at 48!!!
I had chemo that day and I have 1 more next Wednesday. Hopefully those 2 treatments will be enough to knock it down below 35! I have another CA125 on the 27th so we will find out on the 29th the same day I find out about the CT Scan!
WOOHOO What a wonderful day!!!!
Take care everyone!
Thanks for all the prayers. They are definitely being answered! I really appreciate all the support and encouragement! Thanks a million!!!

Hi Everyone,
Sorry it has been so long since I checked in. Things have been a little hectic.
My radiation treatment is finished and I have 3 more chemo treatments to go. Then I have a CT scan on October 22 and I will get the results back on the 29th. After that we will figure out the next plan of action!
I don't remember if I told you all but after 2 weeks of chemo and radiation (radiation daily & chemo once a week)my marker count went from 678 to 342! It dropped in half...now instead of being 20 times too high it is only 10 times too high. I have another CA125 coming up next Monday (29th) and I will get the results on Oct 1st. I am really hoping it has knocked the numbers down to the 2 digit numbers! It has been a long time since that has happened!
Other than being extremely tired all the time and some nauseasness I am doing fine. At least now with the numbers down I feel like I have some hope! I was beginning to think I was losing the battle but now I don't think so! Talk to you all soon! Have to go.

Thanks, Judy. It helps to know that the symptom is "normal" even if it's quite annoying. Unfortunately I don't see a quick end to treatments so I guess I'm going to have to learn to live with this for a while. I have started using lotion and sea breeze (alternating to see if either helps) and I have been wearing gloves so I don't have my nails exposed. That helps reduce my ability to scratch at night. Thanks again.

I had the same thing on my back, chest & upper arms. It got so bad that it kept me awake @ night & I finally got a prescription. I wish I could remember the name of what it was that I took, because it worked really well.
I also had a huge patch of ezecma on my thigh, about 3" x 4". Lucky (I guess) for me, it was on the leg that has no skin sensation as a result of surgery, because it should have itched like crazy. That & the itchy lesions went away when my treatment ended.

Julie....so good that you checked in. So many are praying for you. I'm glad it's going "well". If you're tired. Sleep. That's ok. Maybe it was that long 14+hour sleep that gave you the strength to check in!
I sure miss you on the team threads.

I continue to pray for you!

Thanks for all the prayers!
Things are going well...I am VERY tired though.
Today marked the 2/3 point for radiation...only 5 more treatments...After radiation tomorrow, I see the doctor and I will find out what my CA125 says...hopefully the numbers are coming down...a lot!
This week I will have chemo on Wednesday...I will find out tomorrow how many more of those they plan on doing...also this Wed.(or possibly next Wed) is the day that we will find out if I am going to have a reaction or not. It usually take 3-4 infusions before there is an allergic reaction to the chemo.
Please keep the prayers coming...they are definitely helping.
I haven't been on much lately because I have been so awful tired. I went to bed at 5 pm last night and didn't get up until 730 this morning...except for the 3 trips to the bathroom I slept straight through!
14.5 hours is a long sleep!
Well, it is getting late...going to finish my stuff and go to bed...
Good night, all!
Have a great day tomorrow!
emoticon
Julie
P.S. Terjegold I had developed a few sores on my skin but I just put lotion on them to keep them soft so they would heal. And my doctor said the same thing...it is the toxins from the chemo.

Has anyone experienced small sores that erupt all over the body but mostly on the chest and arms? My doctor says it is the toxins from the chemo being released from my body and that it happens sometimes. I tell you I look like I have had chicken pox there are so many sores. I itch them at night while I sleep then wake up with blood on the sheets. They are scaring as they heal. Not good.

My prayers will be with you Julie. Make sure you ask for some special creme to put on your skin,my doc gave me some Aloe vera jell to put on before treatment. And if you burn there is some creme they can give you an prescription for. I can't recall but if you need to know I will try and find it in my cupboards. Hugs to you. Shemarie

Thank you all for the kind words and prayers...they are greatly appreciated.
Well, so far, things are going well but this is just the first week...today is treatment #5 for radiation and I had my new chemo on Tues. I get a break for the weekend, I don't go in Monday but I start up with both radiation and chemo on Tues. They figure sometime this next week I will probably have a slight burn (like I was in the sun a little too long). I have already developed a cough from the radiation...they are going after the ones in my chest as well as the one in my neck...that is where the sore throat is going to come from. It usually takes 2-3 treatments with the chemo before there is any kind of reaction to it so I can relax for a bit.
I thank you all for the prayers when I started radiation on Monday...as we started getting things ready for it I all of a sudden felt a very comforting calm...and the same thing happened on Tuesday when I started the new chemo. Thank you very much!
I am going to go to a powwow this weekend so I won't be online after today until Mon or Tues...
Have a great weekend, all!

Julie, I too am praying for you as you begin this new treatment. Perhaps it won't be as severe as the other one was. Take it a day & moment at a time..."this too shall pass". Pretty soon you'll be looking back on it and wondering why you did so well with it. Then you'll remember..."Aha! My Spark friends were praying for me!"

Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart, for consider what great things He has done for you. (I Samuel 12:24)

Hi Julie!

I'm so glad that you are not giving up! As I tell you from my own experience (see my choriocarcinoma story post), with God ALL things are possible!
I prayed as soon as I read this! I know the treatments get rough, but I gently urge you to continue to lean on God for strength as you go through this. Phillipians 4:13 (NIV) - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

It is one of my favorite verses; I hope it too encourages and comforts you.

Hi Julie,
I didn't know your story but you sound as though you have had it very rough.
I do hope everything goes well for you with your treatments. You have a very positive attitude and that will help you through.
The new picture in your gallery is a good one, thanks for sharing it.
You and your family are in my thoughts, be strong.
Martha-Ann.

(For those who don't know... Julie and I were diagnosed with ovarian cancer the very same day... June 15, 2004. Julie has really had it tough though and me, I only needed surgery)

My Dear Julie,

I've been waiting for this posting for the past weeks since I knew your treatments were changing. I have been praying for you. I'm so sorry for all that you've been through but you have a GREAT attitude!! Just keep on doing what you always do and don't let cancer get you down!!! Keep in touch... letting us know how you're progressing. Please let us know if there are ways we on this team can be praying for you.

If you have a chance... put a new close up photo in your gallery... before you lose your hair AGAIN!! Maybe there is a close up of you already in the gallery ... all I'm seeing is your full photo in your profile.

Anyway... you know I'm praying....
Love,
Carolyn

Hi Everyone,
I sure hope I am doing this right!

I have put off telling much hoping I would find out I don't know what but something different!

I went to see the radiation oncologist a couple of weeks ago. They (Dr. Lee, radiation and Dr. Grosen, gyn) have decided it is time to start radiation treatments and the new chemo treatment. I start radiation treatments Monday...they will be M-F for 3-4 weeks. He (Dr. Lee) said they could only do the lymph nodes in my chest because the ones in the upper abdomen are too close to the small intestines and every time my bowels move it makes the lymph nodes with the tumors move and he can't do radiation on a moving target. (Well, duh!!) There are some risks...there will be some lung damage and there is a possibility that I may have to go on oxygen...and of course the extreme sore throat and the "sunburn-like" burn that I will get on my chest and possibly my back...I told him I was willing to take those risks...then he told me that the only thing that the radiation and the new chemo was only going to buy me some time...he didn't say how much so I decided until they give me a time frame I am going to go about my life just the way I have been...getting things done I need to get done and doing things I want to do and I still refuse to give up (even after they give me a time frame I am not going to give up! There is always hope and I am going to hang on to that as long as I can!)

The new chemo treatment starts Tuesday...it is the sysplatin...the forerunner to the carboplatin that almost killed me (literally!)...so I am a little nervous about that! I don't know how long I will be getting that but I do know I will be going bald...again!!! (third time!)

I am really hoping between the two treatments it will get the cancer back under control again and slow it way down!

That's pretty much it...

Thanks for listening!
