Ended this challenge and the year at 181.8 pounds That is a loss of 5.2 pounds for December..Not bad. Of course it was an up and down battle the whole way. and ofcourse the last week I had teeth issues so was not eating all that well. Cant wait to see what 2009 Brings

Good Morning! Jean do not change your RMR number.. you do not have to eat 1900 calories.. the number that will change is your deficit. Your RMR is solid so to speak. It will change with age, weight, and activity level, but it is what it is... so what is going to change for you is your deficit, and that is OK. Lose weight, maintain... every body is differnt. This is just ment as a guide to figure how many calories one can consume for the outcome they are looking for.

I am going to change the RMR number. I have learned a lot about this body over the last 5 months or so and I think 1900 calories is way too high. I am trying to level off, lose the last couple pounds, and find my maintenance calorie range. I am going to change it to 1600 and see what happens.
Also I think I will just keep track of the deficit numbers. So.

Just a little more explaination on the RMR. When you go to the site and enter your information it will give you a initial number (example 1410) then as you scroll down it has a list of activity levels. Find your level of activity and use the number by it as your RMR.
Keep in mind that the initial number they give you is the number of calories you burn in a seditary state. Basically couch potatoe, daily functions, getting out of bed, got to the bathroom, Making a meal, watching tv... etc.
You need to have a deficit of 500 calories a day to lose 1 pound per week. So depending on your activity level, you can determine how many calories you can consume per day vs how much exercise you want to do.
If you have any other questions on this I will be happy to answer them. I do know that it took me a while to figure out the difference between RMR and BMR, etc.
If anyone would like for me to find there RMR for them I can do that as well. The information I would need is. You could e-mail me.
1) Your age 2) Your height 3) Your weight 4) Your activity level a) seditary - little to none exercise b) Moderate - 3 days a week moderate exercise c) High impact- 5-7 days high rate exercise
I also use this site to find the calories burned for certain activities that SP does not have listed.

To lose 1 pound a week, you need a deficit of 500 caloies a day. That is 3500 caloies per week. So we either decrese our intake or increse our calories burned. It is all a balancing act. We can do this!
