My trainer just went over this tonight with me. I actually am trying to lose weight, so I do a minimum of 30 mins cardio and then my ST, but my trainer is a weightlifter, and doesn't want to lose any fat. So she warms up, and then does all her ST, and does her cardio afterwards, so she doesn't lose her muscle. She looks fantastic.
Strength training before cardio?? YES YES AND YES...
Starting with two to five minutes of cardio before ST is called warming-up -- which is important.
But most of us who "lift heavy" do our warm-up, then strength-training first.
We need to lift heavy to get the benefits of strength training much more quickly. Any good article will tell you that.
I WORKED OUT LAST NIGHT, after work! Just 15 min. trampoline CARDIO, but that was more than enough for me, and great! Today I'll do 15 mins KETTLEBELL & some dumbbells this morning, and then schedule a 2nd kettlebell (home) workout-- after work.

There are so many opinion out there in general but it is not a definate answer. As you stated if you do strength first you do not get as good of a cardio workout, but if you do your strength last you have to drop the weight or reps because you are tired. With that being said what are you trying do? This website best described what I was told. http://health-fitness-solutions.blogspot.c om/2007/04/many-people-need-to-do-thei r-cardio-and.html
In reality there is no right or wrong answer as long as you are actively doing both and making sure to switch things up every so often. :)
The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.
I was reading on another site that strength training before cardio is best is you want to build muscle and so that your muscles aren't fatigued from your cardio workout thus you lift with better form. I've always done Cardio first for 30 to 40 minutes then my strength training My question to you all is which do you do first? Maybe you do them on different days. How do you handle your workouts?
Today I did my strength training first and I was tired and didn't get in as much cardio as I normally do but I was able to do a little heavy of weights and more reps. My main goal right now is to lose body fat & tighten & tone up to lose those blasted inches.
