Thank you for your suggestions and words of encouragement; since my post I have been on it twice. The first time was okay but today I set it for 10minutes and actually got through it.
I will continue with 10 minutes intervals along with my other workouts until I can increase the time and resistence.
Thanks again!

I love the elliptical also, I noticed that the one at the gym is much more easier than the one at home, at home I can do about 15 to 20 mins, at the gym lastnight I did 60 mins and burned 640 cals.

My advice would be just to keep at it. The more you do the elliptical the longer your endurance will be. When I first started I had a tough time doing 5 minutes. Now I am up to 30-40 minutes, 60 minutes max. Keep going, don't give up! emoticon

I have an elliptical and I want to love it but the fact is I never use it. I do very high impact cardio most days but am not seeing the results that I want. Only problem is I have trouble breathing on the elliptical (I become winded within minutes and my legs immediately get tired) but I do not have this problem with any other type of exercise.....any suggestions??

The elliptical is my favorite machine too. I stopped using the gym & bought a nice elliptical machine & put it in my garage I Have lost 17 pounds in 36 days. I love the feeling of the spring in my step after getting done.

I use the treadmill at every workout, I run, walk and incline at 8-9-10, but today I gave the ellipitical a go and it wasn't that bad. I am sure I will use it again!!

I love the eliptical as well, the treadmill kills my knees. I would suggest adjusting the tension on your machine. If you are not sure how to do that someone at the gym should be able to help you with that.

If you are meaning that you don't feel in control as in with the movement because you are running too fast, add resistance too slow take some off, otherwise what do you mean by out of control. You need to feel like you are in control of the machine or you could potentially be setting yourself up for injury.
