I do the combo too. I've been doing it since July and I've now noticed that my nails are stronger. Hopefully it will thicken my hair too! 60# wt loss and quitting breastfeeding did a number on my hair! emoticon

I am also taking phentermine and getting a weekly b-12 shot. I just started this weekend. I am glad to hear that your doc said that the b-12 will make you feel more rested in the morning!

I take phentermine and I get a weekly b-12 lipo shot. The shot has all the b's plus some choline and other amino acids. I asked the doc why he recommended both and he told me that the b-12 shot will make you feel more rested in the morning when you wake up. I feel great doing the combo and have a ton of energy. I think eating healthy makes me feel a ton better as well. My doc also said that taking b's orally doesn't do the same thing as getting the shot.
Good luck.

I haven't noticed a difference in energy level with the B-12. When taking breaks from the Phen, however, I really drag for the first few days.

What is the lipo-myoden? I haven't heard of that one.

I take a B-6 & B-12 every morning along with the phen and fat burner.

I did the weekly B-12 Lipo-Myoden shots (while taking the Phen)too and always felt that not only did they seem to give me a lift, but I seemed to drop the most weight the day after. Now I don't know if the two were even related or whether it had to do with my workout schedule. It's also hard to tell because I was on and off the Phen. Now I am completely off the Phen but have only had one B-12-lipo since then.

I bought the pills but havent' taken them yet. I didn't want to take them right after the shot and then I just keep forgetting. I absolutely have to take B-vitamins with lots of food because otherwise they bother my stomach. I also don't like to take them in the evening because they disrupt my sleep. I've got some sub-linguals and they seem to work pretty good. I was encouraged to hear that they are a good support for those who suffer with depression and moodiness. This can be an especially difficult time of year for me and I'm hoping that between a controlled diet, plenty of exercise and the vitamins, I just might stay sane for the winter!!

Like others I had also read that the effectiveness of the tablets is greatly reduced as compared to the injection because of the digestive process. So who knows..... I think if you are deficient or ramping up your activity a lot it couldn't hurt to take either the shots or pills.

Oh and one other thing. It is not worth it to take high dosages of B vitamins orally. Well, in one pill anyway. By the time it passes through your gastrointestinal system, half or less actually makes it through to the bloodstream. Its just your body doing its job. Different medications and vitamins also get absorbed at lower doses. You would be better taking two or three smalled doses through the day, or looking for sublingual drops or tabs that disolve under the tongue.

Okay, so its been a month of the b6/b12 shots. Here is what I have come up with. Non-scientific of course.
#1 My mood is pretty good. B vitamins are supposed to help with that, and typically after a month of restricting my diet, my moods are up and down. I mean, I can't eat a giant brownie when I am bummed out right? And I really haven't had the urge, so it seems that those B vitamins keep me at an even keel.
#2 I don't seem to get that burst of energy some people get with the phentermine. And no burst with the shot either. However, I have noticed my stamina when working out is at an all time high. I can push myself harder, and I think the B vitamins just might be helping with recovery the next day. Although it is tough to fall asleep after working out!! Energy is good even on a restricted diet. None of that, I'm tired I need sugar feeling.

#3 It is not a fat burner or appetite suppressant. But, like I mentioned above: better mood and more energy. Aren't those killers for someone who has a hard time controlling what they eat??

That is all . . . lol.

This is interesting... The clinic I go to gives me a B-12 shot every month when I go it. I never remember to ask why they did it though.

Personally, I don't notice any huge difference in my energy levels. But, I wasn't all that tired or anything before I started taking phen. Actually, I was more tired when I first started phen because I couldn't sleep well. Now that I'm over that though, I'm back to normal.

Interesting stuff though!

Hi all,

I *try* to take a B complex vitamin every night. B vitamins have been medically shown to increase energy, concentration, and mood, but the down side is that you can OD on them. So I try to remember to take one each night. Ideally, you shouldn't take them at night, but I can't take them within 4 hours of taking my thyroid hormone in the morning, and I never remember to take them at lunch time for some reason. When I can remember to take it consistently, I have more energy and I feel more balanced mentally. I think the bottle of 60 was about $20 at Walgreens. Shots are probably better because there's no degradation in the stomach and they get into your system better, but as long as you don't have a vitamin conversion problem with your intestine or liver, the pills are probably sufficient for most people. If you're somewhat prone to depression or moodiness, B vitamins can definitely help- and that's from my friend the clinical psychologist.

One weird side effect that kind of freaked me out at first- your pee turns really, really bright yellow. It's kind of gross, but it's just the body getting rid of the unnecessary B vitamins. You can OD if you take more than 1 pill per day and your body can't process the extra and excrete it.

My endocrinologist knew that I was taking the B vitamins (which includes B-12) when she prescribed the phen, so I'm assuming that it won't react badly with it. Hasn't for me so far.

Good luck,
Angela

My doctor put me on the B12 pills because I'm low in B12. As you age it becomes harder for the body to absorb it from food sources. The doc is not wild about phen so I went to a weight loss clinic.

At the clinic I'm getting the B12 and the lypo myoden injections and I feel really good physically after those shots.

I'm doing only 1/2 of 37.5 phen tablet each morning and it's handling the cravings.

I will probably continue with the injections even after I take the weight off - I don't feel my fibromyalgia or arthritis at all for about 4 days after the injections.

I posted this on another thread just a few mins ago, lol. I am B12 deficient and so I get the shots anywhere from every 2 to 4 weeks, depending on when I need them. When I first started taking the shots and for about the first year or so, I would get a HUGE energy burst and just feel absolutely WONDERFUL after my shot. I would get soooooo much done. I also take an oral supplement to help keep my levels up. I find that the liquid/sublingual formuations give you more of a "burst" than the pills when you really need a little umph!.

Laugh some everyday.

Oh...well, I would say the shots are going to be more effective quicker - cause the stuff is going right into your bloodstream vs having to be digested and go through that way...I take a multi vitamin and calcium citrate daily and if I forget - I can 'tell' - I am more sluggish and lethargic...so, I would think that B-12 pills should at least do something, I just don't know how long it would take to build it up enough, ya know? It certainly can't hurt.

The first time I took phen (actually phen fen) the doc had me come in 2-3 times a week for B-12 shots. I was also on a south beach like diet and was about 30 yrs old. It worked and I exercised too - I think the B-12 shots seemed to just make it so I always had energy (not jittery energy) and didn't feel lethargic. I actually think- maybe - doc's add this for various reasons - including but not limited to: they make more money; it gets you to come into the office more often, thus getting you to stay on track longer cause you are more constantly 'under surveillance'; and just to give more of a boost to people that do feel over jittery or lethargic based on what they are eating.
This time - I am only on phen (started with 30 mg only - up to 30 mg in the morning and 1/2 37.5 mg in the afternoon) and hi protein very low carb diet and consistent exercise (4-6 days/wk of 35 mins on elliptical and 2-3 days 20 min's stregth exercise) and I don't feel jittery or weird, I don't feel hungry or crave-y and I am losing weight at a good rate and feel great. (oh yeah, and lots of water!)
So, I don't know that B-12 shots alone would help in weight loss or craving suppression - but they may help along with phen - but I don't personally think they are 'necessary'...

Sian

The only thing I have heard is that B-12 shots are more effective than the pills. I don't know why... maybe someone knows from experience?

Does anyone know if B-12 really works to speed up your metabolism? I have heard it does. Is it safe to take with phentermine?
