This past week has been such a wipe-out! I was getting over a string of late nights working plus TOM and ended up with recurring migraines as well as sleep deprivation.
However, I walked (2 blocks each way) to the resto for lunch on Wed. instead of driving, and yesterday I got back on my dance game for 45 minutes (in fact this time I survived 15 whole minutes on the hardest level--previous best was 5). Girls, I'm back!
What are we going to do for Feb.? Will we have a new challenge? Do you want to keep tracking our exercise here since we started so late in Jan anyway?

You guys are doing so well. It's TOM for me and I feel too tired to do much of anything. Hopefully that will be done with in a couple of days and things can get back to normal (whatever that is!?!)

I went skating today but it wasn't very strenuous. I spent most of the time picking up my 4 year old. This evening I shovelled for about 10 minutes. Every little bit counts I guess!

Can't get to the gym today...kids are home and the gym down here doesn't provide childcare service so I just finished 45 minutes of yoga. Probably won't do much else though my dd and I may go for short walk.

My DD played a version of DDR in school (for Health Class) on Xbox 360 and she said it was very easy compared to ours. I'll have to look around and see if there are other versions. If I mention that I'm interested in it my DD will start hinting for a newer game system!LOL

Wanda, not sure if your game has the same features as mine, but here's what I do:
I started at the "easy" level (my first game was for kids so it was REALLY easy). I still do that level for warmup and cooldown (it's like 1 step per slow beat, no 2-footed jumping).
The menu lets me select "exercise" mode rather than one of the competitive ones. It tells me if I missed the step or got it right, but either way, it keeps going for the whole song. (The final score is how many minutes I've been dancing.) So even if I can't keep up or get the steps all wrong, I'm still moving my bod the whole time.
One person I know has th XBox DDR and she uses it that way I think. (She's a lot younger than me though, maybe she can jump around better.)

We have a couple of Dance Dance Revolution games with our XBox (and the mat of course) but I find it impossible to do. I'd like to meet someone who can actually keep up with it so they can tell me what I'm doing wrong!

You guys are all doing great! I'm afraid this week is turning into a bust for me, lots of evening meetings and night work...sigh. At least I had a ski trip over New Year's and several hours a day of downhill skiing (plus all that snow shovelling) is keeping my monthly total not too bad so far.
Yes by "ddr" I mean Dance Dance Revolution. I don't do the real one (played it once, in a movie complex in Saint John). The one they have here in Moncton (Crystal Palace) is different. I started with a home version called Dance Dance Dance by Veggietales (the pretext being, I bought it for the kids) and as a reward for losing weight I bought myself a different one called Dance Praise.

Worked last night but did a few situps & wall pushups before my (interrupted) sleep. (Could have done the weight machine again if I'd been REALLY motivated, but instead I watched How to Look Good Naked; of course, the machine would help that more than the telly!)

Late post for yesterday: when I was ready to give up on DH getting off the computer (so I could do DDR) and go to bed myself, DD came up and wanted to exercise with me. So we got out the dance mat and jogged in place, did the chicken dance, she taught me some highland dance warmups and some teenage dance steps and I taught her the polka and what I could remember of the Alley Cat song. We had a lot of fun and fell over laughing. She's been a great encouragement to me with my sparking.
I worked a 10 hour shift today but I'll post agein if I get up to exercise for today.

Tonight I got brave and tried the "total gym" at the hospital where I work. Did the "beginner workout" 2 sets of 7 exercises. Took me nearly an hour but a lot of that was figuring out where the thingamajigs went. I feel good now but I bet I'll be moaning in the morning.

Today was too sunny to waste indoors so I walked/ran intervals (jogged for 3 telephone poles, walked for 6). This is pretty new to me, my shins are sore esp. from the downhill part.
You guys are amazing--over an hour in one day? I think if I've done 20 minutes I'm adequate, and 40 or more is outstanding. I'm guessing you don't commute and work full time... On the other hand, I do try to pick more calorie intensive exercise like dancing or rollerblading because I find walking is not only boring but takes too long to count for much...
Come on, there's still a few hours left in the day to get some exercise in...

I'm glad you figured out how to start a new thread! The challenge sounds good to me. So... I walked for 1 hour and did a 25 minute video (Yoga Booty Ballet). I haven't done the video in a while so I'm sure I'll feel it in my hips tomorrow!
