Hey there! I have been a bit lame with my checkins! I hope all is well with you. Good job on tennis and I see your pounds are comin' off, Jodi! Yippee! I started with a personal trainer today. If that is what it takes to lose weight, I understand why I have not been. Whew!

Hiking and horseback riding sounds like it was great fun! I would love to do those longer hikes, but it is hard to go that far with the kids. All the complaining ruins it for me.... emoticon

I was able to get in some tennis this weekend so all is good. I need to get back to some strength training. That will be my goal for today.

Have a great day ladies!

Hi Julie and Jodi!

OK, if one day is OK, then maybe two as well. BUT not three. Tomorrow, off we go again!

Congrats Jodi on organizing your house!

Hey Suzy,

Sorry about being lax about reporting!

This week I am spring cleaning so I am getting all my exercise that way.

I think one day off from working out is acceptable. So don't beat yourself up about it!

Good night!

Hey Jodi! I didn't realize there was a whole section of videos! Good deal on your tennis playing. Do you watch tennis also? We got a group together yesterday for an Australian Open party (instead of Super Bowl)....

I went on a trail run yesterday - I am not sure but think I went between 5 and 6 miles, and I'm sore today. Tomorrow, back to spin class.

I was in Denver for work - Most weeks I don't travel, but then it picks up again. Working out is harder on the road. Whine, whine. Maybe I need to just do it anyway! :)

Have a great night -

We've been using the New You Bootcamp videos that Nicole put up this month.
You can find them in the healthy Lifestyles tab under Fitness and then click on the exercise videos. There are a whole bunch of different videos there to choose from so it is hard to get bored. I usually do the videos twice because she only takes you through one set of each exercise.

I think that I will do the boot camp videos three times a week from now on.

Hey Suzy!

I am glad you are back. Was this a business or pleasure trip? Were you able to get any exercise in?

I have done all the videos and also did 1 hr 50 min of tennis yesterday and another 90 min. today.

I don't know what we will do. We can still keep updating each other nightly on our activities and progress.

Have a good rest of your weekend.

Hi Jodi! I'm home. Walked today, about to do boot camp. What are we going to do when it's over??? Will another one start, maybe, or do we need to make up our own? We've done so well this month! I know I have done better knowing I'd be checking in with you!

Hey Suzy,
I really like the 30 Day Shred. It is quite hard and keeps you moving and it has a different rhythm than other videos. I hope it helps speed up this very slow weight loss!
So today I did my boot camp video and the shred. I also took the girls up to the park and played some softball with them then went for a 30 minute walk/jog.
How was your day?

I hope your trip to Denver goes well.

Hi Jodi - I will have to check out the 30 day Shred! I'm about to get to my bootcamp video. Had planned to go to the gym but the darn cat had to go to the vet....seems only fair to take the poor thing. Seems she will be OK.

Tomorrow is spinning and Wednedsay is tennis or maybe spinning again - or a nutty hip-hop class at the gym. Who would have thought?? Oh wait - neither that day. Have to go to Denver on Wednesday.

Talk to you soon...

Hey Suzy!
How was your Monday? Mine was good, I did the 30 Day Shred and the boot camp video. I also did the challenge and wow did that hurt! My butt is still burning!

I am hoping to start a training program for a 5K in the morning with my husband. We will see about that, I have never really liked running just to run, if it was for basketball or something like that then I loved it. I hope I can get over the boredom. Maybe having someone there with me will help, I'll let you know.

Good night!

Hi Suzy,

I hope you had a nice visit with your cousin and that everything will go well for him in the coming weeks. 26 is so young to have to deal with cancer.
At least you got some walking in! How was your run?

I have been keeping up with the boot camp videos. Friday I took the kids roller skating and did 30 minutes if that with them. I used to be so good on skates and now I am a little bit wobbly, I guess that happens after not touching the things for 15 years.
Saturday I did 75 minutes of tennis with the husband and today we hiked around Folsom for 90 minutes.

Have a great Monday!

Hi Jodi - I'm back! I was in Seattle for a couple of days- I have a cousin with cancer, and he is about to have stem cell transplant...only 26 years old! We went to visit him before he has his big operation after which he can't really see people as his immunity will be really low....

So, a bunch of walking the last few days, but no other exercise. Going to go for a run in a few minutes....

I hope your knee feels better soon. Lunges would be pretty hard on it!

See you soon...

Suzy

So yesterday I did the bootcamp video and I also started the 30 Day Shred video.
I have read that a lot of people love that video so I thought that I would give it a shot.

I am hoping that my knee feels better soon. It is hard to do lunges because of it.

Hi Jodi! All excellent except of course for the kids being sick, and the knee! Darn it - I bet that really hurt. And on the door frame no less - not even a hiking injury! Well, I hope you and your kids feel better soon.

I just finished my bootcamp - no cardio today - simply no time. But tomorrow, different story.

See you then!

Suzy

Hi Suzy,

Sorry for not being here, I have been dealing with sick kids.
This past weekend I did well, I did the boot camp videos and also played tennis Saturday and Sunday.
Monday we went hiking for about an 90 minutes. I didn't do the boot camp video Monday because I hit my knee really hard on a door frame and it hurts a lot.
Yesterday I did the video and took the kids to the park, did some walking and played a little softball with them.

I will let you know how today goes later.
Hope you have a great day!

Very nice on the Tennis Win!

I have been a bit delinquent as I have been fighting off some sort of cold or flu or other wretched thing. I am back on track lightly today. I did my trail running yesterday because I had said I would and was meeting others...It went surprisingly well for how I felt!

Today though is just BC video. Tomorrow, back to spinning, or at least treadmill.

See you soon!

Okay ladies, here is my activity for today.

I did the bootcamp video twice, per usual. I also played 75 minutes of tennis with the husband and kicked his butt! emoticon I usually win a match here and there, but today I beat him 3 matches to 1. I am very happy with myself, if you didn't notice.. emoticon

As for the optional challenge, I am heading to bed now.

Good night!

Today, much better. Group cycle plus bootcamp video.

Group cycle and bootcamp video again today!

I think I am going to get body-fat-tested at the gym on Thursday. I have no doubt that I will not like the results - but my scale is killing me. Up two pounds since Jan 4! Wrong, wrong, wrong.

How are you all doing?

Yes, today was a great day - how very beautiful it was. Can it be January??

I did a group cycle class at the gym - this was my third one. I want to keep it up. That is a workout! Also, I did the bootcamp video and the challenge.

I tried to do my pushups but really struggled with them. I'm not sure if I can keep doing more - but I sure wanted new arms! I think I will keep trying but not go on to the next day until I can do the current one well, even if I have to repeat it.

Thank you again for doing this with me! We will see progress very soon. I just know it.

We had Quarter Horses. They were good all around ranch horses. I also had a Shetland when I was little, he was great because he wouldn't let boys ride him at all.

I did the bootcamp video twice today and her challenge video only once. That one really mad my legs burn! I also did a cardio video twice and took the kids on a walk to the park to play. I love all this sunshine and today was rather warm. All in all a pretty active day, although I did plan on doing one other strength video, but I am feeling a bit tired. I may do it before bed still.

I hope you had a happy healthy day!

I hiked too! You're right Jodi - it is beautiful outside. I didn't take the horse - a friend and I are going to try to do a horse event in May that requires trail running, so we did that today. I am not sure but I think we went about 4 miles. Then I brushed the horse when we got back and took him out to let him eat some grass for a while.

I did my bootcamp video but was just too tired for my pushups. I might try to maintain where I am and stop the hundred pushup challenge for now....but I will try again tomorrow and will possibly get caught back up.

What kind of horses did you have? Mine are Arabian, and I have a Shetland pony that my daughter used to ride, but now is a pet for my older horse. My daughter still likes to play with him but now her feet touch the ground when she sits on him...

See you tomorrow!

Hey Suzy,
I am glad that I can motivate! And as far as the kids go, I usually wind up having two or three working out with me, they think it is great fun. emoticon

How was your hike? How was your horse? I had horses all of my growing up years and it is hard when they get old, But they are such wonderful companions. I really miss it.
I like how you are always doing different things for your cardio, it's good so you don't get bored with the same old thing.

Erin, have fun with the Wii. We have one and it is great. We have the Wii Fit and the Outdoor Challenge which is a good fun way to burn up some calories.

So here is my check in for today:
I did the Bootcamp video twice and then I went on a hike with my 2 year old strapped to my back for an hour. These last few days have been great with the sunshine. I love getting outside with the kids and it is so good for them too.
Tomorrow we are back to strength training.

Have a good night!

Jodi

Man, you two are kicking butt!

After doing my Wii Fit today, I've decided I'm going to try to ramp up with that for a while. But I'm going to keep the sparkpeople videos in mind, they look like a fun option for when I get bored with the same old workout. :-)

Erin - I went ahead and got a ball. I have had the weights - I keep them under the couch. The balls are very inexpensive at, say, Target - they are a pain to store, which is my only complaint. But I am using it every night, so even that is OK.

Talk to you soon!

Good job Jodi! How you do that with six kids is a mystery to me - I am IMPRESSED. I have only one!

I did the group cycle class at the gym again today. I am going to try to stick with that. I also did my Bootcamp and Challenge Crunches, mainly because I knew you were going to do it and I didn't want to tell you I didn't!! So thank you for the motivation.

Tomorrow looks like a light day but I am going to go see my horse, and most likely hike with him. He lives on the Folsom Lake trails in Auburn so it is great hiking territory - he's getting old so better to walk with him than ride him. So, win-win!

See you tomorrow! Three weeks to go...but I need to keep this up a lot longer than that!

Hey Erin,

I think that some of the exercises you can do without the ball and dumbbells. You can use a chair and cans of food. Others I am not sure of. Or, if you have a gym you use, you can print out the workouts and take them there and use the gym's ball and dumbbells.
I hope that helps.

So today I played tennis for 70 minutes, did the bootcamp video twice and three sets of reverse crunches. I also did a 10 minute cardio video twice.

Hope you all had a fun, active day and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Jodi

Hmmm...it looks good, and it looks pretty easy to follow - but I don't have a stability ball or dumbbells. Do all the workouts involve those, or could I work around it?

Hi Erin! You will like this program - glad you are joining!

I did my Bootcamp video, and then went swing dancing and just got home - I was there 2.5 hours and didn't dance the whole time, but a lot of it. That is a fun way to knock out the cardio!

See you girls tomorrow....

Okay, I have had an active day.
I did the Bootcamp video and two other upper body workouts twice each. And I did three cardio workouts.
I also took the kids to the park and chased them around there and walked for 30 minutes.
It has been great and I feel good! I am excited that I have been consistently active and exercising for 6 days srtaight. It has been a while since I have done that and I WILL keep it up! emoticon

I made it through day 5! emoticon

Today I took off from cardio and will start it up again tomorrow. As for the strength training, I did today's Bootcamp video twice, another lower body workout twice and a lower body pilates workout once. All in all it was 40 minutes.
Glad it is over because my thighs are tired!

How did everyone else do?

I am feeling better today. I did today's video twice along with two 10 minute cardios and another core video. I alternated the strength with the cardio and that worked really well for me so I think I will keep doing that.

I decided that if I am going to do this I need to go all out and just do it. No more slacking! So I am looking forward ro seeing big results at the end of the month.

I did today's video - abs are always tough for me, but it's done for today.

Way to go Suzy!
My day was a little hard due to the fact that I wasn't felling well.
But I did do the Day 3 video twice and the wall push-ups. Boy I could feel those in my triceps! I also did the cardio video from the swimsuit challenge. That was a little difficult and I only made it through 1 1/2 times instead of 2. I also did the bike for 10 minutes. Boy I hate that thing! But I am determined to conquer it or die!

Wow Jodi - that is great! I did the video just once but did drag myself to the gym for 30 min on the treadmill. I had promised my daughter we would play tennis BUT then it rained, but she treadmilled with me.

Glad you are Bootcamping, Karen! You'll lose those 5 - I know it.

Talk to you both soon!

Here is my check-in....

Today I have done the Day 2 Bootcamp vidoe twice and the Day 1 video twice. I also did the Swimsuit Bootcamp Day 5 video from last year. Now I am off to peddle away on the stationary bike. I was only able to do 5 minutes yesterday so I am shooting for 15 minutes.

Hey Suzy,

I'm in! I love the idea of this challenge and I hope that it lights a fire in me to continue past this month!
My goal is to lose 10 pounds this month, a little ambitious I know, but I think that I can do it! And if not, any weight loss is great! I am really looking forward to changing my measurements.

I almost decided not to do this and then I saw everyone's blogs! I'm in!

So - getting started, my goals are still the same -

Goal 1: Lose 5 pounds in January. Definitely do-able - barely over a pound a week. Get moving, little turtle.

Goal 2: Update every day on this thread. Anyone else want to join me?

Goal 3: Complete the 100 Pushup Challenge.

There. That sounds like enough. Now I guess I have little choice but to go do the Boot Camp Video.
