T think that fasting is ok maybe one day out of every month or so just to give your body a break.

Now, even better than fasting there are detox programs that give you nutrients (in small quantities of course) that help your body do the job much better.

I have tried the "Clean" program by Dr. Alejandro Junger (this book I read about on Gwyneth Paltrow's website Goop.com) and it is excellent. You'll feel renewed and lose a few pounds as well (I did 2 weeks and lost 7 lbs). I absolutely recommend it, it takes a little bit of work to prepare your foods but your health is worth it.

I don't understand why a model would have to fast anyway... they don't eat as it is....why take away what little nourishment they DO get?!?!
I don't plan on being a model either... I just want to be healthy.

yea i completely agree with braxtonsmommy
not to mention once you start eating regularly again you gain it all back & your body is in starvation mode so it stores as fat incase you do it again

wow. i totally couldnt do this!!
if i didnt eat for that long i know i would want to eat everything in sight once i started to eat.
i work out very hard too, and food is my fuel!
sometimes when i dont eat enough, i can barely make it through some of my routines.

i think you can lose weight through much healthier choices, the healthy way.

i have a feeling that this would cause you to actually lose muscle not fat.

Yesterday I was kind of sick to my stomach. So all I ate was some crackers and a granola bar. Today I feel better, and I had a small bowl of cereal. I think it is true you start to crave better choices after not eating for a day. Mine wasn't on purpose, but it did have the desired effect!

Personally, I think eating a healthy diet of lots of vegetables and nutritious foods will clean your body of toxins... I think of it as a NATURAL cleanse!

3 days without ANY food for someone active like me, might be very bad! ... so I guess I won't be a MODEL anytime soon :) And that's OK!

I agree with you, that fasting is not a healthy regular way to diet, but after trying it for 3 days, it really revitalizes your mind and body and cleans your plate for you to start fresh. Then it changes the way you eat afterwards. I didn't crave any greese or harmful things, I wanted mainly water, veggies and fruit.

There are people that use fasting too often (twice a year is the max and it should only last a max of 5 days) And people use it as a quick way to lose a few pounds. That's not good, yeah you might lose a few, but that is not the point of fasting. The point is to cleanse your body of harmful toxins in everday food!

I don't think fasting is healthy... you need to EAT to loose weight and that means DAILY.

I think fasting just screws with your metabolism, it's like STARVING!

I have gotten off of my diet plan a bit. So, I am going to try this cleansing process this upcoming weekend. I will only fast for 3 days, and see if it works on getting my mind and body back on track!

Anyone want to join with me?
