Fasting may seem like and unhealthy way to shed pounds, but it has other key effects for the body. Fasting for a week on juice, soup and water will not only help you lose 5lbs, but it keeps skin glowing, and gets rid of all the toxins in your body.

Your liver is constantly trying to rid your body of harmful toxins, and giving it a break from constant digestions lets it really purge these pjollutants quickly, to get you on your way to feeling great. This fast allows the liver and kidneys to recover from all the toxic food additives and preservatives, and pollution and smoke. It is also a great way to break bad eating habits and start over again with a clean and natural diet. When you come off a fast, you can quit all those fast food and junk food crutches. Physical and mental revitalization will encourage you to continue on the same path and not revert to old, bad eating habits.

The juice consists of fresh carrots, celery, beets, spinach, apples and cocnuts. Any combination of these is good. Citrus or tomato juices are too acidic to drink while fasting. Remember also to drink plenty of water and avoid consuming anything other than the broth (see below), juice, water and medications.

You can add ginger or other things to add more flavor.

Jucie can be consumed throughout the day as needed. Drinking less juice will speed up the detox process, and more will slow it down. Nothing is set in stone, so go with what feels right.

When fasting, take a colon-cleansing herb and Psyllium husks, which will help you feel full and also gently scrap fecal matter out of your colon.

The vegetable broth recipe can be used for a 3-7 day cleanse. Drink it whenever you feel hungry! Try to use organic ingredients.

2 Liters of water
2 Large potatoes (peeled)
1 onion
3 carrots
4 garlic cloves
Chop veggies and add to water. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, then drain the veggies. I like to add a little cayenne pepper but this is optional.

This fast should normally last only 3 days to a week, after which you should go back to a normal, healthy diet. Hopefully you will feel so great that you will make some changes to your diet and introduce more fruits and veggies to prolong the positive effects of the cleanse. You should repeat this fast no more than once every 6-12 months.
